I am a returning player (from a long time ago...when Tram was first introduced) and I'm not sure what to do. I am playing a Paladin and I used one of those advanced character tokens to boost my skills up. I was also hooked up with some 70 resist armor and decent stuff, so I'm wondering what I could be doing besides running through Shame (my old stomping grounds).

I joined a guild but they have not had any events as of yet. I guess I'm just looking for some fun ideas to do in game. I prefer PvM at the moment. I heard about invasions but haven't found any as of yet. Same thing with champ spawns.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

(Oh yeah...any idea how I can create a macro for accessing the Honor virtue? I have UO Assist too but can't figure it out. Thanks.)

I dont know what I can tell you about "having fun" in UO. I lost most interests in PvM and only thing that UO is left for me is almost PvP (and developing PvP chars).

If you want to make a macro for honor virtue. Click "Options" on your char window. Then click "Macro Options" the one that looks like a curvy arrow. Click "Add". And there you can assign a key and right under there there's a drop down menu. Select "InvokeVirtue" and it will be another menu pop out to the right of it and select "Honor" hit OK or Apply and there you go.

Perhaps try to meet up with the role-playing community on your shard and take a try at that. *smiles* Might end up liking it.

find a new guild, our guild always has something going on, from peerless to champs.

Use your imagination, that is probably the second most required thing needed in UO, along with patience and appreciation.

Lack of interest shows little of the above mentioned attributes. Other games make a path for you to follow, like all the mindless zombies on WoW. UO stands alone in having a player think for themselves.

Ever notice on the front page of stratics, all the professions......well, if 0 out of 50 interest you, then your money is going in the wrong direction.

Goals and challenges, regardless of what any other player may think, are what keeps alot of us old timers around. It's why we don't get bored, or rely on a dev to amuse our evenings and weekends.

oh, welcome back.

Well PvP is now how ever has the best bot system and most items, :| sad but true,, well not all just alot.. note i said NOT ALL!!! If you get into PvP champ spawns and factions are the things to be in, although those really vary based on shards, since some have 100s of people and others one guild runs all...

PvM is kindof slow since after a big boss comes out, and everyones killed it, no one really goes there anymore :( eg: Crimsons, people found them to be to much of a waste and don't fight them anymore..(note some people do, this is just for the larger group of people...) they perfer getting the books that drop from generals and moving on. Or a bit back not far there was a boss Sicarii who on the first day was surrounded by people i mean alot of them, the second day, a few and slowly dimishes... and all real large bosses only some can solo, and that is very difficult to do,

If your guild hasn't done anything start something, say everyone were are going to... Mel/Doom/Champ whatever just something to get them more into the game and more active, people will see you guys you will get more people into the guild and the events become larger

What shard are you on? It sounds like you could use someone to take you on a tour of the new things that are in the game that you've missed since you last played. If you're on Pacific let me know. I'd be more than happy to take you around to some of the cooler Ilshenar spots along with the new stuff added with ML.

For the Honor macro you don't use UOA, but UO's own macros. Simply go to the macros tab under Options. Once you're there scroll down the menu to "Use Virtue", select "Honor", then set up a 2 key (strongly suggested) macro for you to use, which will then bring up a cursor for you to target with.

Welcome back to UO! *grins*

I returned to the game about a year ago. I've been having a blast ever since! There was a ton of new content for me to catch up on...I hadn't played since around 2001. I found the players on Chesapeake to be very helpful and friendly. I also used Stratics quite often for reference, and found tips and tricks in the Profession Forum FAQs.

I am still a bit of a loner by heart, so I haven't joined a guild yet. I have a great group of friends that I have met while just having fun playing the game, at the bank, doing events, out after elusive taming gains. I seem to find plenty to keep busy, between hunting with friends, chatting, character development, exploring, etc.

The Moonglow invasion was the first event I experienced with my newbie tamer/mage. I had tons of fun playing a support role...healing and curing on the battlefield, rezzing with the aid of Magery jewels and rez scrolls. Running in to assist a hurting pet, and gaining vet too! Even though my skills were all 80's or below, I had lots of fun, met new friends, and even recieved some of the collectable items from the players I assisted in battle.

If you happen to catch one of the Invasions that are going on right now (depending on Faction participation on your shard), you should meet some fellow adventurers there. I tend to see many of the shard's more active players at events, and these players and groups tend to do alot of the other PvM activities, such as Peerless and Doom.

If the Invasions don't fit your time schedule, there are usually groups coming and going at Luna Bank. I see players ask for hunting companions, and they usually quickly find a group to join. Sometimes you will find long-time players here that are great for questions and relearning all the changes.

If you just feel like bashing some familiar monsters, I like hunting in the Anti-Virtue Dungeons, like Shame. The Virtue Armor pieces, some weapons like Jaana's Staff, Ankh Necklaces, Luck Sculpture are some of the drops you can get from hunting there. Always fun to be de-stressing with some monster bashing when an unexpected goodie appears in your pack.

I hope you enjoy returning to the game. I approached the experience with an open mind, as if I was learning an entirely new game. All the new content, monsters, and items have been fun to learn about and discover. Decorating my house and growing plants can be a full-time experience of it's own! ;)
