Locking things down in castle walls...

I agree completely that the courtyard should be my own to decorate and lock things down in. I can't even put any vines around because it's not "in" the castle.

You used to be able to recall straight INTO the courtyard because it wasn't technically INSIDE the house... they nerfed that because of an exploit with moonstones if I'm not mistaken... so if I remember correctly, people have been asking for the Devs to revisit allowing you to recall into the courtyard...
I'm guessing, if they make it "Part of the house" and allow lock downs and customising... the recalling would be out of the question...

i hate to be the bearer of bad new but i would not keep my hopes up on this one.. the way uo has been treating people with keeps and castles over the last few years borders on contempt. just like it seems that having a grandfathered account makes you a criminal . if you havent noticed nothing that has come out since they changed the rules for one house per account happened has been for the benifit of either granfathered accounts or owners of houses larger then 18x18. if asked honestly im sure most of ea right now wishes they never allowed castles or keeps or more then one house per account. why else would castles and keeps not be allowed in malas? even now when the population is dramatically lower then before still no love. now for grandfathered accounts .. wow have they ever got the short end of the stick huh? neat new addonds, use then lose your other houses... customise your house... lose your other houses...breath the wrong way lose your other houses...every last addon they have added has the drawback of forcing people to lose there homes if there grandfathered.

I agree, Ive always thought that you should be able to lock things down in the courtyard. that would be so awesome.

Yea people have agreed with one of my ideas... this is a first !!! woohoo!! hehe hrmm well having the entire courtyard covered with 2 story statues has begun to get old :| and Ice, Ice, Ice, swamp, Ice (my castles..) look ugly alot of the time, and need to be made better decored

This would be fun, how to make it so that you cant just use it to lock down chests everywhere I dont know, but i'd like to be able to lock plants down, banners, etc.
that would be nice and what about those areas in keeps we cannot get to those also would make nice areas to make gardens. maybe add doors to give us away to get in those areas What would be real nice since we wont be able to customise a castle or keep if the designers would come up with maybe 5 or 6 different styles of classic castles and keeps to choose from.
homes should be able to not have plots

Even though Castles have to most lock downs of any house on UO. They waste so much space. It would be so cooooool to be able to customise a castle plot.
If keeps and castles were customizable, they wouldnt be keeps and castles now would they? Thats what makes them special. I do think that there should be some different designs to choose from though. That would be nice

NOT true at all! There are dozens and dozens of castles scattered throughout Europe and no two look alike. Lord British and Lord Blackthorn both have castles and they aren't alike. Not sure why people think all castles look like Disney.If keeps and castles were customizable, they wouldnt be keeps and castles now would they? Thats what makes them special. I don't think all castles look like Disney, no, but the thought of what some would build given that much space makes me shudder
now, three or five designs to select from? yes, that would be perfect, and yes, they would all allow lockdowns in the courtyards
I just want to be able to recall in there again. I dont think making them custom would be a good idea. If it was ever done, they should only be allowed 2 storys. I see enough cubes out there now. Would hate seeing them the size of castles.

I don't know why the customizable thing got brought up, this entire thread since it is about locking things down in the space between the walls, but it did :| don't think it is a good idea woulnd't want a 36x36 skyscrapper everywere i walk...
Yea even being able to recall into the castle walls would be nice if the lock down thing can't happen, since if it isn't our house hten it is empty space that should be recallable into :L|

It isn't going to happen. One of the major driving forces for the change to the house recall system was BECAUSE of castle owners whining about getting ganked in their own home. No one can recall into their homes, period - end of story.
They will never get to be customized, they are not squares. The house customization system is designed for a square lot. They are not going to re-write the tool just for 15-20% of the population - if you include L-owners.

If I didn't have to load a courtyard that's been decorated while running by then I wouldn't care either way.
I personally don't want to see customizable castles or keeps, but if they made 2 or 3 other styles for each then I'd be okay with that. I can just imagine the mess and lag huge customizable plots could make.

You do not understand it seems, it isn't our house since well you can't lock things down in it, claim deeds, or use interior deco tool on it, or drop a vendor... thus it is empty space, Thus it should be able to recall into... but this still isn't the point of the topic...
This is about locking things down, and not costimizing the houses, please no one else mention it, :\ Still not on topic
Please stay to the base ideals here people, and if you want to shoot it down, go into the rants form and talk there please not here .
