which is more important? Magic resist helps a LOT mage vs mage..

But even with a mage weapon, you still need wrestling because any good dexxor disarms.

Resist without a doubt.

Wrestling + a mage wep is a total waste of skills points imo.

how about wrestling, parry and magic resist?

that would be ideal for pvp mage.

if your going to make pvp mage char go all the way and make one that works.

magery 120
eval 120
med 120
parry 120
resist 120
wrestling 120

stats 255
str 100/dex 80/int 75
be an elf for the 20 more mana.
use items to get your dci as high as you can get.

definitely need resist for a mage... if you're using a mage weapon anat is better than wrestle.

ugg pls do not make the mistake of thinking disarm = good dexer, disarm is one of the most ridiculous moves in the entire game, there should at least be a timer on it. A truly good dexer won't need to disarm

hmm srry for that rant :p back on topic I think it depends entirely on what situation you find yourself in more, wrestling is only really gonna help you if you get disarmed (if u use a mage wep that is) whereas magic resistance will help you without having to be a backup usage

Magic resist if you are using a mage weapon.

If you are new at a mage or new at pvping on a mage, I would suggest going either scribe mage or, like suggested above, parry mage. I always suggest parry mages to beginner mages because it nullifies the gimp dexers and archers and doesn't add anything else to an already difficult character to play. Starting off as a necro mage as your first mage character is pretty hard. Its really a lot of spells to get used to using. Thats just imho.

Yeah.. What I sorta hate is the 80 dex for the mage... (you lose 4% SDI, even though not big) You never get to use all that dex for anything except parry.

If you use inquis/orni combo, then use an ecru ring and use Dex pots. Thats what I do. It gives you like 25 dex so you only need 55. 5 - 10 from Crimmy and you only need 50. If you can get a suit with a lot of HP inc then you dont need that much str so you can lower it there. I managed a character with 120 hp, 125 int, and 60 dex, drinking a dex pot brings me over 80 and even if I don't have a dex pot the parry is still good. The spell damage takes a bit of a hit like you said, if you can't get the dex high but I still think its worth it especially fighting the dexers with the kind of equipment they have these days. It's kind of a joke... :)
