Hi i seen some people selling 11th anvi items where do i get them from as i tried most shards and dont seem to have reward to pick so is this another way uo is going get money from us ?
yah and it isn't like UO was born over there WTF ??? why do we get shafted when they get everything ?They are only available in EA Japan so far... God knows why EA US doesn't want to sell them to us yet... We have to wait for the middle of December but then, yes, we we'll be buying codes to get the items... they haven't given details as to costs or anything yet.
My thoughts exactly. It would be terribly nice if someone from EA actually took the time to explain to us why this was done. At least if they had a good explanation it might not make us feel so much like the step children.yah and it isn't like UO was born over there WTF ??? why do we get shafted when they get everything ?
You answered your own question. Don't ya think the coding that made the asian event with the AoS colors could be run on a US server? And don't ya think that these 11th items *could* be available already to the US?Especially when you can transfer these items from a Japanese shard over to an US shard with no problem, what's the reason we have to wait?
On the flip side, without the players from other countries, I can guarantee you that UO wouldn't exist.I decide not to complain because without the Japanese players we probably would have no game left to play.
Yeah... thats basically what I meant. On the flip side, without the players from other countries, I can guarantee you that UO wouldn't exist.
If you translate the page on UO.jp, they come as a "master token" - exactly the same on Test Cenre I think, when you go through the gate in Umbra =)Give us the DETAILS please!
I guess I wasn't clear enough. Without the European and North American continent players, UO would not exist. Japan does not have the player base to keep UO running by itself. So it's kind of a double edged sword. We need them and they need us.Yeah... thats basically what I meant.
I wonder if they understand that boxes on the shelves bring in new players. Many people have no idea UO even exists. Why would they?Aparently EA Games in Japan actually produces BOXES for UO that appear on Store Shelves so this 11th Anniversary Collection is part of what you get if you buy the box in a Japanese store.
In the US, EA Games can't be bothered to sell BOXES for UO and if they did, they believe stores wouldn't stock them anyway.
I still don't see why we can't get access to codes from the EA Codes site at the same time Japanese users get access to the boxes though, it's not like it costs EA much to put anything up on their website... (not like they ever put up the 9th Anniversary Code that you need for certain housing tiles though)...
The very least they could do is give us more details on how they will be available... will we purchase a set that will have one of each gift or will we purchase x number of tokens and each token will be good for a choice of one of the Anniversary items...
Give us the DETAILS please!
Well, I don't really agree with that. I think they should release boxed copies every so often but these Anniversary releases would probably not sell as you are expecting. As always, the majority of these are purchased by current players only it becomes a big deal because they don't ship on time or pre-orders get messed up, etc. If players buy tokens on the web its a LOT less hassle for them and their profit doesn’t shrink from production costs. I think doing SA as a retail box is good enough, 11th doesn’t need a box.I wonder if they understand that boxes on the shelves bring in new players. Many people have no idea UO even exists. Why would they?
Wow, well, first, I think the explanation *has* been given, both by Jeremy and Kilandra. My thoughts exactly. It would be terribly nice if someone from EA actually took the time to explain to us why this was done. At least if they had a good explanation it might not make us feel so much like the step children.![]()
i wonder what colour the bow is going to be on this one hehe or maybe it will be a new graphicI see nicely wrapped boxes in my future![]()

AARRGGH!Wow, well, first, I think the explanation *has* been given, both by Jeremy and Kilandra.
EA Japan is releasing their own SKU with these items as part of a promotion, and once they've finished their initial run they'll be available here as well. Releasing codes online at the same time would completely conflict with their promotion, but we have made sure we'll have them too.
These items aren't replacements for Veteran Rewards, or anything else commemorating the 11th Anniversary of UO. We still have quite a bit of the 11th Anniversary year to celebrate![]()
Never say never, we DID get Valentines day gifts forever ago. They included valentines candy, cards (that were the graphic of deeds) that had our names on them, red goblets.... I forget what else. I think it was 2001 or somewhere around there. We still have till New Years day before this calendar year is over. We also have till the 12th year to get a box too. It has been put off this long. There are other things in the works. We never had anything for Thanksgiving. We may get it then. We never got a Valentines day gift. We may start a Thanksgiving one.
Maybe Thanksgiving is too close to Christmas to start one on Thanksgiving. We may start the year off right with a New Year's gift. I think I will just wait before I complain. We have been suprised before. They may do it again.
While I thank you very much for responding, I guess my post didn't quite translate as I intended it to. Now if this has been explained before let me apologize in advance because I have not seen it. Why is it that "EA Japan is releasing their own SKU with these items as part of a promotion" and EA (insert what should be here for the rest of us) isn't? Why is it that the rest of us get it AFTER their promotion? "Releasing codes online at the same time would completely conflict with their promotion" - why do they have a promotion and we don't? I hope I have worded my questions to reflect what I am really asking.. . .EA Japan is releasing their own SKU with these items as part of a promotion, and once they've finished their initial run they'll be available here as well. Releasing codes online at the same time would completely conflict with their promotion, but we have made sure we'll have them too.
Again, thank you for responding. Of course it's just another teaser but it does give us something to look forward to.These items aren't replacements for Veteran Rewards, or anything else commemorating the 11th Anniversary of UO. We still have quite a bit of the 11th Anniversary year to celebrate![]()
These will be $$ from the Code Site.. but aren't available in the US until Mid December... they are currently available only in Japan as part of a "Box" release in game stores there. So these items need to be purchased with RL cash like from the UO Game Codes site? Or are they a reward for being a current player?
Thanks. The dates don't bother me, but I'm not one who's inclined to buy items for RL cash. The furthest I've gone in that direction was for an account upgrade to ML.These will be $$ from the Code Site.. but aren't available in the US until Mid December... they are currently available only in Japan as part of a "Box" release in game stores there.
I do like to buy these things when they are offered to us, at least some of them, but I really think it is very unfair that people in Japan are able to get these items, bring them to US shards and sell them for ridiculous sums simply because they got them first.Thanks. You put it sooooooo much better than I could.Draconi,
Since you took the time to respond with only the "Party Line" that the Japanese have a 1 month Special and then we'll get it...
How about taking the time to tell us WHY the Japanese keep getting this special treatment? Getting 1 month "first access" or get far better stuff available in their online codes store (like Dyes of Tokono) than we ever do?
I understand that we will get it after a month so they can sell their boxes... I just don't understand WHY this arrangement was agreed to in the first place, why it never happens the other way around and why EA/Mythic doesn't seem to address these questions!
Well, a couple years ago xfer tokens were a gift, based on acct age if I remember correctly. Other than that the tokens come from uogamecodes.com for $19.99 each. Since you need gold on the shard you are transferring to you'll probably take one of your main characters. So that’s one transfer token to get there and one to get back, that's basically $40. Sure, it’s cheaper in game, IF you can find the tokens to buy... but a lot of people shell out the money for the codes. We will get em too in due time.....I jus don't understand the situation with the dyes and why US shards dont have easier access to them other than X shard trading......Does EA sumhow make money from X shard trading cuz it seems they have been implementing actions that do require unnecessary X-shard trades
Actually we did get a Valentines this year remember the stuffed animals??Never say never, we DID get Valentines day gifts forever ago. Also I remember on Thanksgiving we had turkey's that ran around. They didn't drop anything when you killed them though, not that I can remember.
I like it when they "mix it up" and not give us the same things over and over. Although, it would be nice to get more soulstone frags this year for xmas to go with the new skill gain scrolls from champs. =)
Stuffy Dwagon!!!Actually we did get a Valentines this year remember the stuffed animals??
Also if any of you have been to champs recently youll notice they all spawn as a turkey!!!(pretty cool cept slayers no longer work)
Why the "Wow"? You expected a different reaction from us?
There's the problem. There should never have been a their.EA Japan is releasing their own SKU with these items as part of a promotion, and once they've finished their initial run they'll be available here as well. Releasing codes online at the same time would completely conflict with their promotion, but we have made sure we'll have them too.
Ok..... I have a thought..... But wouldn't it burn you right now if you actually were in Japan and had paid money for the Promo items and then come to find out you'll be able to craft two of them now?????
Not that I am in Japan or anything but it just seems to me that if I were that might totally honk me off...
Though I think they should have been on the crafting menu anyway as well as many of the things from the heritage tokens.... such as the Vanity..... And rugs "should" be craftable....... infact I think they still ought to be a craftable item.... Made directly from yarn..... Perhaps they could come up with some way to make craftable rugs.... they don't have to be like any existing rug they could be different but I think a craftable rug that you can dye would be totally sweet....
EA Japan Developed the items, and it is customary to give the designer(s) a bonus dependant on how the items was profitable, and for the designer to get shafted by not recieveing a bonus becasue it was purchased elsewhere then the designers woudl leave, and EA Mythic could not ride on their development coat tails anylonger. They are only available in EA Japan so far... God knows why EA US doesn't want to sell them to us yet... We have to wait for the middle of December but then, yes, we we'll be buying codes to get the items... they haven't given details as to costs or anything yet.
Are you speaking from KNOWLEDGE or is this a "Wild Guess"? My guess is that there aren't separate development teams both modifying the game code for the same game, because they could too easily change something that would break the other teams work, but I'll admit I don't know how this is working. I'm betting that EA Japan is simply a MARKETING arm selling the existing game in the Japanese market under license. They may be able to request modifications and may, as part of their license agreement, be guaranteed x number of development hours per year to work on their development requests but I really doubt they have their own dev team modifying code and publishing it back and forth between two teams.EA Japan Developed the items, and it is customary to give the designer(s) a bonus dependant on how the items was profitable, and for the designer to get shafted by not recieveing a bonus becasue it was purchased elsewhere then the designers woudl leave, and EA Mythic could not ride on their development coat tails anylonger.
Snow at britan was developed in Japan, the 1st few round of purchaseable items were developed in Japan with the exception of the design of the tot 1 pigment colors.
EA Mythic North America seems to ride on EA Japans design items lately, not sure exactly what it means, but it is happening alot!
2 thing i get from this....Wow, well, first, I think the explanation *has* been given, both by Jeremy and Kilandra.

"Greetings!
As you all may be aware, our friends in Japan will be putting out their yearly Ultima Online box to the shelves on November 13th. To promote these boxes, included in each, will be a package of special in-game items that we have named the 11th year collection.
Since we are sure that some of you would like to also take part in owning this awesome collection of goodies, we will be making this package available on the game codes store for purchase in mid-December.
