Silver farming...

well today I went on my useal farming trip to farm the silver farmers but at one of the spots I found a greater dragon farming demons but no tamer...

then tracked all over the dungeon to see if I could find him (and no he doesnt have stealth so my chance of finding him=high), but he was no where to be found.

so my question is can u just place ur pet at some place then go to another dungeon being on the same server and collect the silver while u are afk and ur dragon works the spawn for u?

if so could this please be fixxed fel is supposed to be reward vs risk and there ain't really any risk in placing ur greater dragon at some demons and then placing ur tamer in another dungeon and seeing the silver flow in...

You were in Fel... I know what I'd have done to that greater dragon if I found it, and it doesn't involve posting on Uhall Kill the draggy then wait for the tamer to come check on it and kill them too if you're that way inclined heh.

However, a pet which is gaining skill while parked can be paged on. Dunno about Fel though, I think in Fel the most obvious thing is just kill the drag. But GMs have turned up to deal with parked unattended pets before.

If it was down in a Fel dungeon, it could be that the tamer was doing a bank run and left the pet there. Still not an excuse though, I always take my pets where I go.

have no fear the pet died...

and it left after the tamer timed out due to the lag of a silver msg...the time it took for it to dissappear matched very nicely with the inactivity kick...waited 15mins after that to see if he would return which he didn't so most likely afk macroing silver

How do you know he doesn't have any stealth?
And GM hiding and 0 stealth (or 20 stealth, if they're a human) still does quite a bit to hinder tracking attempts. Do you have GM tracking and GM detect hidden?

If there are no players in an area (within about 2 screens or so), NPCs (including pets) do absolutely nothing. They sit still, not doing anything.

Cho, if you have a quick look at UCH board you might find enlightenment. I've a feeling the reason you had trouble finding the dragon's owner was because he was ever-so-slightly deceased.

Someone's idea of farming silver is kind of at one remove

did you track for monsters? i've known some sneaky tamers that would polymorph in daemons while farming them.

Normally a pet would lose loyalty very fast if the master is not around. So such a way of farming would not be very efficient.

On the other hand, I am not sure if the tamer can receive silver in his pack while a ghost. In such a case he wouldn't show in the track list.

An update.

I found the same situation myself, couldn't track around (and cho, you know I have a pretty decent tracker). So i got my soulstoned GM SS and had a look at the dungeon. Yes, the tamer was a ghosts, so apparently you gain silver, deposited in bank or ghost pack, even if you are dead.

This is clearly an exploit, but there is nothing we can do about it except killing the pet. Even exorcism won't work (it was badly implemented from the start... why should it have that ridicoulous limitations?). The only thing to hurt the scripter is paging for physical harassment, and we all know how much useful that is...

I would say it's 99% certain that being able to collect silver from a pet's kill while your character is dead is not intended. Anyone (everyone) who has come across this phenomenon should fill in a feedback form reporting it as a bug.

Well if you can gain silver while being a ghost, it sure is pretty lame and needs a fix soon.

On a site note. Its way to easy to gain silver when you can make 6.k+ per hour!

you don't need to script to do this. If you have show names of incoming on the monsters spawning will keep you logged in.

Yes, I reported it. But honestly, petra, I am sick as hell of having to do EA work for them. This kind of things should have been fixed years ago, and they have been reported ad nauseam...

Every time I see one of those things I remember why I canceled my sub for two solid years, and feel compelled to cancel it again.

Seriously, though, you shouldn't be able to gain ANY sort of item while dead. That sounds like something that needs fixing.

Besides the fact that the money grubbers wont let the GMs bann plp anymore, it's a no brainer. If empowered GMs OBSERVED what ever was the latest greatest shiny thing in the game they could put the fear of banning into plp and not some code fix miracle. And if things had been policed from the start there be more honest players still playing to line their pockets.
I can see how suppling a quality product can be daunting when you have a second vacation home and garage full of the latest toys. Grubbers.
Before the random jacking and mining locations I think they had a clue where every frost and valorite spot was. And with the addition of the library and museum the better mouse trap was in play. Hey bet any player in the game can lead a GM to this place where the archer quest is.
"They" is anyone that gets part of our monthy fee, and the game is a product no matter how many ways you can put pixel in typed form pixels.
