Y'all give up on the lag fix,

Not sure if this one will help show anything or not. Did the trace to GL (from here in Colorado) and then let it poll 2000 times. Scroll to the right to see Ping Avg, % Loss, Packets received/sent, and best/worst Ping. The 165ms ping time is double or more what I usually have for GL and is just about what I normally get trying to play on any of the Asian shards. (I usually ping around 200 to Oceania.)

Customer service in providing service or at least letting you know when and if you'll have service in a timely matter,
I wonder if the next time your phone goes out and they they leave you hanging if you'll be so considerate. I've worked in the service industry and I'll tell you if you only expect minimal service thats all you'll get.
I wonder if in a week when things are still screwed, if you'll still be so submissive.

Look up the words "manners" and "submissive" in a dictionary. You'll find they mean very different things. You'll also find that some of us do know how to run a successful business, actually have one of their own, and don't need some random boardie trying to hand out free lectures. Grow up and learn how to act like one, then maybe I'll listen to your lessons in how to get on in the world. If you can't figure out how a person can be civil, without being submissive then your issues reach far further than these forums and UO. And honey, I sure don't get called submissive in RL lol.

We are concerned about the latency issues - no doubt about it, but some of them are just out of our control.

Sorry everyone, I know how frustrating latency is and I want it to be resolved quicker then you can say, "Lag monster be gone!"

Now, if only that would work.

I believe it is a bandwidth issue. If it was faulty equipment or configuration it would have been diagnosed and solved by now, and west coast servers are not effected so it is not new coding.

Because it will be taken care of. Just because it is out of their control that doesn't mean it wont be fixed by whom ever the problem is with...but feel free to keep complaining about the lag. There are plenty of others out there who are not experiencing the lag. Of course, you can always cancel your account so you can stop complaining.

It's funny how you recognise someone speaking to you sharply, yet feel it's ok to be that way yourself. But if you can't understand how to behave in a respectful way and get what you want in life, that's not my problem. If you feel so upset that you aren't getting good service with a game, close accounts. That's exactly what I'll be doing if things don't improve. I don't see the point wasting money and forum time if you feel that strongly.

Yep, Nystul, That's an EA one, but the odd 101 max ping on jump 2 and the 2 270s can make it easy to dismiss by someone looking to discredit the issue. I would hazard a guess that your 360s high pings at EA were a result of the 160s ping (itself bad lag) interacting with whatever intermittent issue caused the 270 highest ping on jump 7, and again, right before the EA servers. Again, 160s for your BEST ping is atrocious lag.

You've posted about 10 traces I've seen, with a few of them showing issues at places other than EA. Junk the ones where you hit a major in-route blip, and send all the EA only ones to Joanne.

If you can get a clean track like that without the 270s, those would be the best to send in, but the average ping times in that one should make it worth sending (though I'd almost be tempted to delete the Best/worst column so they have to base it on the average ping).

Umm....You are aware that this issue has been going on considerably prior to yesterday morning, and that trace routes show the problem at your end, right?

And that if it were a general Internet outage, we'd probably be experiencing Internet lag other than UO?

Basara, while I understand your intent is to get the EA problem fixed, your request of everyone to stack the deck with only traces showing what you want them to see is a very bad idea. Without traces from all over showing all sorts of situations a network admin is often at a loss to find the solution. I only uncovered the IP/hostname issue after running traces to shards I don't even play and by looking at some of the traces that you probably didn't like. Leave it to the professionals to sort out the pertinent data from the non-pertinent.

I've been sending in a traceroute daily. Starting yesterday I've been sending one in from every eastcoast shard with at least 1000 pings to each.

To Legends, pingtime is 178

To Europa, packet loss is avg 11%
To Legends, packet loss is avg 66%

Somethings needs to be done, i quit shadowbane when i couldnt log onto their servers for a month. i can connect, but if the game is unplayable, whats the point?

Okay, not trying to be argumentative, but I don't get it. If that is the case, why hasnt it always been a problem? Did I miss a huge influx of new players somehow?
Looking at some of the idocs and stuff, seems to me like the population is still decreasing, so there should be less traffic, not more.

Either they cut the bandwidth on the East coast or its increased traffic from the event. Once traffic exceeds a certain maximum throughput, everything goes south. Some people are saying its the routing tables, but an organisation as large as EA would have resolved internal issues like that by now.

It's just real strange that there's no communication with their customers and when there is it's 2 sentences. Tells me the problems pretty serious and it'll cost alot of $$ to fix it and their debating whether to spend the money to fix it or just ignore it and write us all off, and send us all a $10 off cupon to buy Warhammer LOL.
