dci is clearly not working right

been playing my melee char lately and a silly amount of mages I only hit like once every 10th time and I have max hci so I should hit every second time and no they ain't parry coz they only have a spell book armed...

tested a theory with one of my team mates who where 45dci tried hit him while he had 45dci and I hit him around every second time with a wep with no hld

he then bumbed his dci up to 60 and I hit him around every 7th time

I think some nub developer has removed the dci cap tbh

go fix this some normal mages are actually harder to hit than there parry mage counterparts with this going on=fun ****

I play mostly mage and to me it seems that dexers hit just fine. I could be wrong but atleast none of our guilds dexers have complained about not hitting. Havent noticed anything weird with my archer either, but I don't play it that much so I wouldnt prolly know...

I'm pretty sure DCI / HCI are working as they are supposed to... The problem is the Random Number Generator. It's only really random over very large samples and tends to do the Hit / Missed 10 times in the row in the short term, which is pretty much all PvP. Everytime I've tested this with a buddy doing 200+ attacks it works out fine, but I still get streaks of up to 14 Hits / Misses in a row in that 200 tries which is very unlikely....

And HCI and DCI also take into account weapon skills.. DCI and HCI increase the amount of your finally dodge or hit chance..

For exampe.. two with 45 DCI/HCI both at 120 skill still have a 50/50 chance to hit. But if someone has only enough skill do dodge 30% of the time, DCI is a lot less effective (no matter what the ancient stratics combat calculator says)

Gotta love kids that come on here with absolutly no knowledge of statistics, crying that stuff is broken. I think instead of pancakes you should take notes from Vexxed post and also google "Law of Large Numbers" than come back and try to claim this.

talking about childish posts ^^

and go test out 45dci vs 60 dci with a 45hci char hitting you and you will see the difference...

or you can just keep making unfounded accusations on an internernet board...

which ever makes the most sence to you

I just tested this on TC.

It took me awhile to find some jewelry with high DCI, but I was able to put together a suit with DCI 60% and another with HCI 45%.

I decked my attacker out with 120 Fencing and HCI 45% and my defender with 120 Fencing and DCI 60% (no parry or bushido on either).

The formula for Chance to hit is...
Hit Chance% = ( ( [Attacker's Combat Ability + 20] * [100% + Attacker's Hit Chance Increase] ) divided by
( [Defender's Combat Ability + 20] * [100% + Defender's Defense Chance Increase] * 2 ) ) * 100
Minimum hit Chance% is 2% at all times.

If DCI is capped at 45%, then my attacker's chance to hit should be...
=[(120 + 20) * (1 + .45)] / ([(120 + 20) * (1 + .45) * 2]) * 100
=(140 * 1.45) / (140 * 1.45) * 2 * 100
=203 / 406 * 100
=50% chance to hit. So I should hit the defender 50% of the time.

I counted the swings and I counted the hits.
Swings: 415
Hits: 206 (49.6%)

Now that's pretty darn close to 50% if you ask me.

Thanks for actually testing this, I had tested it before as well but didn't have hard numbers, like yourself! Nice work :)

@ Cho, still care to think my post was childish? Just curious.. have you still looked up what the law of large numbers states, and how random number generators work?

You may have high DCI, but don't forget that your opponent may also have high HCI which may mean your DCI is a lot lower against that opponent :p

dci active cap is 45, but if you have over 45 it will counter the effects of being hit with hit lower defense.

Actually, Cho hag, the burden of proof is on you since you are making a claim against the status quo. You have not provided any such evidence (anecdotes DON'T count), so, as such, people have every reason to discount what you say.
