Armor question...

Back after a few years and have a question or two about armor.

I remember a time when you could purchase armor sets, but in 2 weeks of searching I have found zero armor sets for sale. Am I blind or is armor sold by the piece now?

Is there a good guide for armor? I have a mage, a ninja and a warrior. What type of armor should I be looking for and where?

Thanks

The goal is usually (for pvp at least) to have a medable suit that gets as close to 70 as you can get in all resists and try to get your fire and poison resists to add up to 85, or as close as you can get to make you corpse-skin proof.
You also want to have 8 mana regen, 40 LMC, and, for your mage, 100% or more LRC.
The warrior and ninja will need mods for mana regen, mana inc, LMC, HP inc and/or HP regen.
Say it with me now....Huh?

Thats the way I feel everytime someone tries explaining the new armor ways to me.

It's pretty much sold piece by piece now, although I do run into the occassional GM made non-runic armour sets.

Plan on spending a lot of time and a lot of gold to achieve this.

Okay so piece by piece now.

How about the style? Can I find a leather set that will protect me as well as a plate set? I have found the difference between the barbed, spined and horned so it seems the key is your situation.

I need plain ol’ PvE every-day armor for my three characters. I can figure out the rest as I go, but for now I need general protection!

Thanks for the replies

What shard are you on?

What are your needs? Gm armor? Runic armor?

The base suit for a mage is nowadays: 100 lrc, 60+ res and some extra mods like lower mana cost and so on.

Suits vary so much now according to the players style and needs, and the armour system is so much more complicated than it was, that you should make at least a couple of different suits.
A basic PvM suit should be at least 65 in each resist unless you are making a luck suit. A high luck suit with high resists is damned hard to build.
Leather will protect as well as plate since the armour system now uses the percent of resist (phys/fire/cold/poison/energy) and durability rather than the old AR rating, and leather will allow you to regen your mana which metal armours (plate/ring/studded/chain) won't do unless they are mage armour.
As for the mods, you'll still need the mods I listed above for PvP, but for PvM you can throw together a suit with about 65 in each resist and LMC/Mana regen/mana inc for all your chars to wear and carry regs on your mage. Many ppl start out sharing a suit between chars, since some of the mods like LMC and Mana regen/Mana inc are necessary for warriors with Chiv, Bush and Ninjitsu as well as for mages.
Any more, pretty much the only kind of template that can wear non-medable armour are the pure dexxers, and that template doesn't work as well anymore (IMO) without the complementary skills of Bush, Chiv or Ninjitsu which require you to be able to get mana back.

I am on Lake Superior -

I am looking for good general armor while I learn to play the game again. It sounds like multiple sets are really the way to go, but for now I woudl like utility armor for my Mage, Swordsman and Ninja. I have been looking this morning and what a task! :D

Thanks Experimental - the fog is starting to lift and I think I am understanding armor better.
