Do slayers work on corrupted souls?

And if so, which ones? I've fought them with a respond slayer, but didn't really notice much of a benefit. Sometimes I'd hit for 1 hp, other times for 30 or more. Seems very in consistent.

Their weakest resist would seem to be poison, based on the weapons I've taken. Fire does okay, but not as good.

Definitely no slayer, though. In fact, despite being pseudo-undead, their corpses can be animated.

I'm betting that's my problem then. Maybe I'll give it a shot tonight with something else. As Basara suggested, maybe poison. See how that works out.
poison is listed as 0% on UOG, so that's probably a good bet.
Problem I had was that they have low Eval, so their magic tickles. But, they have massive base damage, and tact/anat, so a couple of them get in to melee with you, and you likely end up seeing grey:(

While not as good as poison, a Pixie swatter does pretty good against them when they swarm (and can even collect you a few thought threads if you stand at intersections to fight the corrupteds, and collect the other type as collateral damage).

Any weapon with whirlwind and life leech can do pretty good, if you can get the damage type to fit.

I've been using a Radiant Scimitar that has no SSI, but DI in the high 30s and all 3 leeches better than the soul seeker. Add in Consecrate weapon, and it's possible to spam Whirlwind attack and rarely run out of mana, even on a character with no Med or focus.

They aren't undead.

Please try again later when you actually have compared your results with another weapon.

My undead slayer did the exact same damage to them as another sword of the same type that wasn't a slayer.

I mow them down on my archer with a 100% fire repeating bow and wearing the undead tali. Without the tali It takes me several shots with the tali it take me 3 tops, generally only 2. And yes I just tested this. Add in EoO and you eat them for breakfast.

Best results for me has been an Overseer sundered blade. Get 5 or 10 chasing me, cast curse weapon and charge the lot spaming whirlwind. With out EoO I drop them in 2-3 whirlwinds. With EoO it's a garunteed two-hit kill. A few extra whirlwinds for the latecomers to the party. I gathered around 200 threads in just a few hours. Whirlwind also fires off on other souls when the one you have targeted is defeated but hasn't died yet... that was a nice touch from the devs.

Well my results are in, My char is a scrolled mage(scribe) using an undead slayer book(no mods) and I can kill one in a single flame strike. (every time)30 kills

Using a scrappers with 1mr, It takes one flame strike and 2-3 fireballs to take one out. (every time) 30 kills

I would say the Undead slayer has some effect. :)

yes i know you are talking melee, but the book does have a increased damage effect.

If it does, they must have added it with one of the mini-publishes. The first week or so I was doing less damage (as in, less by about 30-40%) with a 28% DI Undead slayer long sword, than with a pixie swatter or a 35% DI Radiant Scimitar that isn't a slayer.

This is really messed up - I just went out and retested it, and I'm doing LESS damage with a trinket equipped, than without it, using a non-undead weapon.
