What I'm currently doing to have fun:

1. Working on a HUGE and tricky player quest.
2. Getting rid of all my uber equipment and going on adventures wearing simple GM-made armor.
3. Exploring dungeons, starting out with merely clothes, bandages and an NPC weapon.
4. Having some fun duels with my guild mates, to test skills and tactics.
5. Going to New Haven, collecting taxes from landlubbers (pet tax, street cleaning tax, liquor tax, anything.)
6. Constantly cleaning out my house to make room and get rid of never-used items.

Dude are you really extorting/bulling/threatening gold from new players on your shard?
If so, you pathetic attempt at role-playing is nothing but harassment of other players.
How disappointing.

That sure is not fun for your victims.

I was kind of looking for a thread where some people that might be a little burned out on UO could come for some inspiration and see what kind of fun everyone else was up to inside UO these days; and I see that many of you have delivered exactly what I was looking for!

As for me I'm still plodding along gathering BoDs, mostly for my goal of personally creating something higher than a golden runic hammer. As well, I've been working the guaranteed gain system to GM cooking and tracking. I haven't been able to spend much time ingame lately (nor in any game lately, heh).

I've scoured over most of the replies so far, and many have certainly inspired me to get out in the game and enjoy plenty of the varied aspects that makes UO so great; some that I had lost sight of. So I say: good stuff! Thx all

The game is fun to people for different reasons. I never understand people ragging on others' playstyles. I garden in RL, I enjoy it in game. I'm a decorator IRL, I enjoy it in game. I'm not a necromancer IRL.

A lot of my inspiration comes from RL houses. It's a challenge trying to adapt contemporary design into the game. I have yet to figure out how to do my own house in game. Believe me I've tried!

Right now I'm busy stocking up on all the new rubble types, so I'll have plenty of goodies with which to decorate houses (my favorite UO pursuit).

Been playing off and on since day 1, and I'm still loving this game!

Hehe, you can be disappointed easily, I didn't even need to give you facts yet.

Some background information though: We are pirate roleplayers. We do not really threaten anybody, but we sometimes go to people and ask them for a 100gp tax, if the cast "friggin' magery" in town (or if their pet dragon fouls the floor in front of the bank, or for any other reason). If the "victim" gives us a bottle of ale instead, we'll usually be fine, too. Our guild rules forbid to force a fight onto someone. If you'd just ignore us or decide not to pay, there would be no consequence. However, a lot of people actually get on the roleplaying and react in their own way. This always spices up the boring bank-sitting and makes room for further roleplaying.

I hope you now feel less disappointed.

I had a 3-page essay written about combat veterans who are happy to call their "main" Fluffi Bunni, and like to have a pretty house.

I've had to delete it all - I'm OK under mortar-fire, but I am afraid of the Mags.
