Now it's very upsetting that you dont get some kind of noticed when this happens while defending our towns.Lucky for me someone said something about a wild pet and I looked because my Dragon was down to 24hps and I couldn't heal him.If my Dragon didn't run away and allow me to tame it I would be without my Dragon that took me so long to tame and work his skills.

Note: You should of had something where if your pet goes wild durring this event you could bond again once tamed.I dont feel it's fair that I now have to stop fighting in this event now that my pet isnt bonded to me.

Oh and my other Dragon wont bond with me and it's been 13 days now.

Wow, just wow. Judging by your post count you do read stratics. It was announced here, debated, discussed, and posted on the UO Herald website that if you use your dragons on the crismon dragons they will lose loyalty and go wild.

Not to mention, that while you are playing, if you command your dragon to attack the crimson dragon it makes that awful noise and loses loyalty.

Maybe if you paid attention at all you would have known that.

Yikes! Now I REALLY won't be doing the crimson dragon thing. I actually did not see that post so I'm glad it's being brought to our attention again. Thanks!

Oh i see dragons all the time, try some food now and then, they like that best during a fight, what would one do if every time you fought something you had to feed it, Oh wait they do that now...
hehe Crimson are just really tough and dragons rarely fight there own, thats why the GD's go a bit bonkers...Stock up on that tasty Mogbat meat before you go hunting...

Tamers can do it without dragons, surely you have different pets like any real tamer right? Use a Hiryu, Cu-Sidhe, beetle, etc.

I have all of which and all of which I don't wanna lose :) Plus, like I said in another post, I really don't wanna spend the money for insurance and I still don't really understand where and when the thing spawns. No big deal.

This is one thing, everyone knew or should have known, that the Crimmy is anti dragon, it was announced well in advance of the invasions, that's why I and a lot of other tamers, leave our pet dragons in the stables and I for one just use the magery part of my tamer, or like at Vesper today, I used my mage/necro/weaver in training, and had a great time, and only one death robe :):)

Crimson's only have an anti-dragon ability. You won't lose any non-dragon pets. A Cu works perfectly with no penalty on them.

Here's the thing about what we should or should not have known...I come home from work..cook dinner...get the kids settled, do the dishes and then I play. OR I wake up on the weekend and race to the computer to log in. I did not read ANYTHING having to do with ANY of these events. This is my fault and purely the reason I am so clueless right now but that is why (or I assumed it was anyway) that these boards are here. To get info that you may have missed? To ask questions about things you don't quite understand? I'm not trying to flame you in any way shape or form but you have to understand that some of us don't get the information for one reason or another and we come here for the help. If I am wrong in my thinking then please let me know and I will not ask questions of things I SHOULD already know.

And I get the fact that I can use other pets and they won't go wild but I had other reasons for not participating ie Insurance costs, not being able to find the darn thing and in general not wanting to be one of the MANY bodies I saw lying on the ground next to the ONE dead crimson dragon that I saw. That's all. It is really not a big deal that I participate in this and it's just a decision I made.

Aren't there also 3 in game messages before your dragon goes wild? I thought someone had told me that.

uhm... you as the player and owner should be responsible for making sure your pet does not get wild... thats one of the aspects of being a tamer...

I had the pleasure yesterday evening of getting to fight invasion spawn in several cities on Sonoma (Minoc, Skara Brae, Moonglow, and the ever-so-lovely Magincia). This is what I learned about using a greater dragon:

  • If you are in the vicinity of the crimson dragon when it spawns, it uses an area effect to calm everyone. If you have your greater dragon with you, it immediately becomes extremely unhappy and you are stuck. (I only saw one message as I was running away, Shanshu...didn't wait for more.) Keep trying to move away and recall ASAP! If you got out with your pet, feed it ASAP, thank your lucky stars, and let the lesson stick.
  • If everyone is piled on the last general, it's time for you to get your dragon out of town. Don't be greedy, just get out. If you want to switch to another type of character for killing the crimson dragon, you need to let your character cool off anyway so you can switch to the next one.
  • If all the spawn you're fighting suddenly poofs and there's an eerie emptiness around you, don't go investigate. Get out.
  • Don't be a kill and loot hog. Sure, your dragon can probably clobber a general with one foot tied behind its back in half to a third the time it takes a swordsman or archer to do the same thing. But what's the point in trying to hog kills and doing that consistently, all evening? Just how many weapons and spell books can your house hold??? Help out with the other spawn too and rezzing and healing. Help with dragging generals and the tough but lucrative spawn to areas where others can also help with killing them. Move that dragon's big body to the side when it comes time to loot. The GDs are almost a point-and-forget pet when it comes to the generals and a lot of the other spawn. So maybe you can help set a trend and turn around a lot of the negativity that seems to surround tamers these days, especially tamers using greater dragons.

We been using Dread horses, dogs, fire steeds to fight the CD. Any time we see the CD and have dragons with us we run for the hills with the pets to stable them and return with far better animals to fight the CD.

Viper,

Use your dragon during the invasion, once you see all of the spawn disappear, and that flash of light, recall out with your pet and get something different to use on the Crimson.

I did notice that, fighting the higher end soldiers, I had to pay close attention to my dragons loyalty. Just keep it fed well and make sure you are constantly giving it commands (and that it is following your commands.)

It was very nice to read those posts giving solid advice to not only the OP but anyone else thinking of using a GD to fight with, instead of those posts chiding the OP for not knowing in advance not to do something.

I think I remember someone asking them to post that in the Login for everyone to see. Guess it fell on deaf ears though. *shrugs*

One thing I have been doing is running around, as soon as the Crimson appears, and telling anyone I see with a dragon to get it out of there ASAP. Not everyone that plays reads the boards, and I wouldn't want them to lose their hard trained buddy.

So when you lose, or almost lose, whatever matters to you in UO then you should just be grateful EA gave it to you? What a worthless response you made.
