Going to make a new warrior, decided on:

100 ana
100 chiv
100 swords - unless something better?
100 healing
100 parry
100 tact
100 resist / bush

1 - what skills do i use to start the char with 50/50
2 - is bush or resists better to have
3 - as i am poor, what should i scroll higher
4 - does chiv need to be 100 or can this be lower to scroll up other things
5 - whats the best wep skill to have

Thanks!

That's a good start.

1 - start with 50 weapons/50 tactics for the fastest start.
2 - For PvM, bushido, for PvP, start with resist then go back to bushido when you get better and can handle curses and paralyzes and poisons.
3 - You can find 110 scrolls for dirt cheap, but plan on raising these skills in this order higher: Swords, Bushido, Parry. With swords, you hit more and get hit less, with bushido, you have extra tools to do more damage and take less damage, with parry, you get hit less.
4 - Chivalry can be dropped, some people say to 80, some say to 70, some to 60. I'm more of a 70 guy myself. What is important is that you cast divine fury close to 100% of the time and enemy of one somewhat reliably.
5 - All weapon skills have advantages. Macing is cheaper to get the upgrades(weapons and scrolls), swords have the best damage over time in melee, fencing has the easiest time finding the faster weapons, archery does the best damage of any weapon skill, but ammo can get expensive.

I'd suggest 49 Wep Skill, 49 Resist Spells, and then 2 in Bushido or Chiv so you get the book that goes with the skill for free. Resist is much harder to gain in than any other skill, so it's better to get as much as you can right from the start.

To the OP-

100 Chiv isn't necessary. 70-75 is more than enough. Go with 90 Anatomy and the 70-75 Chiv so you can use those points to raise your Wep Skill to 120, along with Bushido and Tactics. I'd suggest working both Resist and Bushido, keeping Resist on a soulstone to swap out for Anatomy for fighting the Magery/Necro casting creatures.

I consider resist to be right up there with parry as far as ease of training.

More advice for Zy:
If you attack 10-12 spectral spellbinders in Old Haven, you can have 110-120 resist in a few hours if you're not disturbed (which happens annoyingly often).

And with parry, you can hold a weapon you aren't proficient in and gain from 0 to 110-120 in about the same amount of time using sheep or female wrestle-fighters.

I suggest you do those first before any other training. The resist will get your physical and elemental resists to 40 (or more) and the parry will help you avoid being damaged too much.

It's a lot quicker and easier to powergame those skills up than to actually use them in practice to work the skills, the difference is hours in the powergaming style to months in the use-the-skill style.

Then you can work your weapon skill to 60 in Old Haven before moving to Despise for lizardmen and ettin, even unarmored, 40 physical resist is enough to handle them, and the damage will work your healing up. After your weapon skill (and coincidently your tactics) reaches about 70, there are dozens of ways you can go to devlop further.

And the point or two in Chivalry or Bushido is a good idea. I hadn't thought of it before (mostly because I've always had gold).

As far as weapons skill, I would ask what are you planning on fighting primarly.

My first char was a swordsman with pretty much the template you have with bushido instead of resist. It was fun to play until ML came out and after that I pretty much parked the char. Biggest faults I had with the char was that many of the weapons do more damage per hit but are pretty slow, so when I fought a sucubbus or other monster that heals itself, by the time I hit it again it had aready regained some of its life back. The other problem I had with any of my melee chars, is that many of the ML peerless and new event monsters do area damage so it makes it a little harder for close fighting. Template 120 swords and Bushido, GM anat, tact, heal, resist/parry and 60-70 chiv.

I enjoyed playing a char with fencing more than I did my swordsman. One of the reasons is that it was easier to find fast slayer weapons. Find a nice demon slayer kryss any you can farm sucubuss all day pretty easy, or a undead kryss and the new undead talisman and even paragon lich lords are fairly easy. I would go with resist over bushido on this char since alot of the fencing weapons you would probably use are one handed. Template 120 fencing and parry, GM anat, tact, healing, resist and chiv 60 - 70.

Achery is another fun char that you can use on any peerless and against monsters with area damage. Weapons are pretty easy to get either by loot, strongboxes from ML quests, or if you have a fletcher you can try getting runic kits. Might cost more to start out as far as buying arrows, but after you get the skill in the 80's you can farm arrows off the ratman archers or cenatuars. A added bonus as far a skills go, is that you can drop parry and have both resist and bushido. Template 120 archery, GM anat, tact, heal, resist, bushido and 70 chiv with 10 points extra that can be put into one of the GM'd skills.

Macer - pros is that it is probably the cheapest to make, and there are some good weapons, but finding them is probably the hardest part. Cons - Like swords, many of the weapons are pretty slow. My macers template is pretty much 120 mace and bushido, GM anat, tact, healing, and necro, and chiv at 60 or 70. I use necro for vamp form (leaches life per hit and helps on resisting poison). If you can find the Tokuno minor the Exiler (demon slayer) farming sucubuss is a snap, or if you are into peerless, get the titans hammer and do the whirlwind attack and you can get all the travesty keys you want by yourself.

Looking around at 120 scrolls and depending on what shard you play:
120 archery 10-8 mill
120 fencing 4-2.7 mill
120 swords 6.5-4.8 mill
120 mace 1.5mill - 800k

Swords has many fast weapons, and finding a slayer is just as easy with one as it is the other. There is no difference in chance for a slayer of any type to drop as loot for any of the melee skills.

I solo succubi without a slayer all day, pretty easily. It all depends on the template. You're right in that a template without Necro has severe limitations, but even so, I was killing succubi with my dexxer even before I went with the Necro build.

I would go with resist over bushido on this char since alot of the fencing weapons you would probably use are one handed.
You really need to learn more about Bushido before giving advice on it. There's only a 5% difference in Parry chance between a 1 handed and 2 handed weapon, which is insignificant in the grand scheme of things. If anything, I'd drop Anatomy before I'd drop Resist against any Necro type creature, and even against some Magery only types. If it was a have or have not situation, then I'd go with the Resist instead of Anatomy.

Achery is another fun char that you can use on any peerless and against monsters with area damage.
A non Necro template in today's UO pretty much HAS to be an Archer if you're going to do any kind of high end hunting. Sad to say but true.

It's obvious that you've never tried out a good diamond mace with 30 SSI. They're plenty fast and hit very hard.

No offense, but I think you need to brush up a bit on the details on some of the skills and weapons.

First of all, the first thing I said was it depends on what the person was planning on fighting. There are pros and cons of each warrior type depending on what you plan on doing. Second I was trying to use templates of chars that I have that matched somewhat to the template that the person had decided (anat, tact, chiv, healing, parry, resist/bushido, and weap skill). The only variance was my macer that has necro instead of resist or parry.

The reason I said I would use parry and resist over bushido for my fencer is because the main weapons used are mainly one handed and more than likely the person will have a shield (120 parry and 140 dex has 35% chance to parry with shield compared to 120 parry and 100 bushido only having 10% with shield and 30% with one handed weap only) IMHO the 100 would do better in resist or necro (except that necro wasn't in their list skills).

As far as my comment about fencing weapons being easier to find, that because most weapons made from runic kits that I see are Kryss and Warforks for fencing and Diamond maces for macers, katanas, ornate axes and scimiters for swordsman (and bokutos from the carp kits). For the most part there are more fencing weapons crafted than swords, but you are right that if your just picking up weapons from loot then even chance either way.

Out of the 96+ fully developed chars that I have spread out over the shards and accounts, the ones that I play the most that match the template laid out are the archers and fencers. Just my preference. My advice is to go to the test shard and see what you like best for what you plan on using the char.
