Mysterious characters...

Well i was just flipping around some of the shards, to see what they are like compared to mine, don't use the other ones since the ping is to high but upon my first time clicking on some shards, there have been characters there with skills, and names already made.... i found this quite interesting, and the fact some of them, had a few items that were good : D But I have never gone on those shards...

So does this mean i'm being hacked or something?? it is really strange :O

Did you buy the account from someone else? I know I have 6 characters on most shards for the purpose of shard trading, if you acquired the account from an outside source, it may be they did the same thing.

Did you buy this account new... via a UO box on a shelf at a store or something, or did you buy it or get the account from someone a few years ago, even a long time ago, but someone had the account before you?

Have you ever created toons just for cross-shard trading of gifts of some sort?

i've made teh account myself, i've had it for 10 years just a few months ago now

I've only created toons on two shrads, since they aren't step freeze freeze step.. there.. but other places were i do not use the shard have character :O

I recently found characters on the European shards I didn't know existed and were partially developed, it wasn't till my husband came home and I told him about them, he reminded me that back in 2000, we'd made characters there when Napa was having some trouble staying up. Perhaps you made them long ago and forgot, or someone in your family, or who you shared your information with created them.

Well lad, change your passwords get a shard xfer and get all the goodies back to your shard before anyone finds out!

Also check the runebooks and see if your mystery characters own any houses... you may want to loot yourself!

If you don't leave a tooth under your pillow and te tooth fairy comes by a certain number of days in a row and finds nothing to add to her necklace, then she logs into your computer and creates chars on your UO accounts randomly.
She tends to pick the names of siblings you never had upon creation. She wouldn't be any more forth coming than that when I asked her; except to say that she thinks it's time you bought a new pair of socks.

I'm doing that right now because about 300M worth of stuff.. password has been changed and codes, and questions changed to incase there is some other why in hehe yea for me... but still it is really really really strange :O

I've just checked and all of my char on one shard I don't play any more have disappeared (including a high level tamer with pets) and I'm sure I've never deleted these char on this specific shard!).

...maybe your characters went over to that other account? better check with that guy and see if he got a tamer before he xshards!...

Ya know, I've often suspected that my characters lead double lives and are off doing fun things when I'm not online to enjoy it. If I could tell ya the number of times I've logged into a character to find them drunk! Something is going on!!!

Here's an idea - go onto the forum for that shard, and ask if the character names sound familiar.

Over the years, people have had characters mysteriously disappear. It may be that, through a database glitch, someone's characters might have had their account ID tags altered, and you were the lucky(?) recipient. Theoretically, HD damage (especially if one of the shards that had a catastrophic failure in the past), even a random cosmic ray passing through the server, could do it, but 99% of the time, there wouldn't be any result beneficial to anyone (just unrecoverable data loss/corruption)

That's what I say it is....my kids used to get on here and create characters on ever account on every server. I log on to check Europa for example and a char named "yellow snow" or "booger" were created. Lovely eh?

Why bother asking if someone else made the characters. The OP is obviously looking for some supernatural explanation.

Everyone reading this post knows that you or a family member (or someone that lives with you) made the characters and simply forgot.

Mine is totally messed up. The one char is old nough to have an empty spell book, 3 scrolls. 100 gold potted plant Deed fruit cake the whole nine yards. The next one down had young status. The next one down will not log in. They was all logged (excet the one) in the orignal location of Jhelom. (Felucca) Was no Trammel at that time. The one came up with the young player quest we now have then returned to Jhelom not haven.

Oh, I am 135 months and since new had it. I have also never missed a single month since I started. Most the names are nonsence since they was just for testing. Over 11 years and they was never updated.

Only reason I went there was to make a couple new char for cross shard trading. So I don't feel like waiting for an hr for a GM on chars that was long ago forgotten.

I found that I had the same thing, but I think I forgot I had actually done it. I had a EH on Siege once.
