Devs, Please Have At Least One Random City Allways Under Attack

Please change it so that there is always one city that is under attack. The Fel and factions thing is great, until you get a group like CoM that has kept total control of the sigils for a couple days. At that point it ruins the entire event.

Please please look at having at least one random city under attack at all times.

There has been an interesting dynamic starting to appear ... people are expecting thanks to be expressed to Shadowlords factions players for allowing the invasions to occur. My goody-goody RP side is starting to feel a little queezy about the conflict of interest.

The boards have been surprisingly light of discussion about the factions side of the event - I don't know any of the players involved so have been counting on reading here about how the tide of battle has been going. I guess those involved are far too busy to be coming here?

I think the "invasions" is more like a long-term feature of the game, rather than event... They've kept it for a couple days, won't be forever most likely.

I can tell you how things are going on Pacific right now. Council of Mages have collected all the sigils, and are holding them inside their base. The only entrance to the base is covered with traps. The base has been constantly guarded by CoM faction members, and they continually re-acquire the cities at the exact time the sigils are corrupted. They have the four hour timers set and know exactly when to move everything.

From what I have seen, there is a little bit of action on the evil faction parts, but CoM definitely has the numbers on Pacific.

I'm in TB and it's a joke. There is hardly anyone in the faction, and most of those that are have been in it forever.

It's nice to see factions included in the event content, but I know a ton of people that aren't in factions that would love to do the town invasions.

And please, let's not turn this into a Tram vs. Fel thing.

So please give us at least one town at all times under attack.

Once you've done it several times and get the items from the generals that you want, it feels very boring. The items are pretty much all the same except the intensity level. Killing the Crimson dragon is fun and interesting until you see the garbage loot they give, it's not worth the insurance cost.

What I want to know is whether or not these drops by the generals are going have the ability to be imbued or unraveled. If so then I definitely have issue with factions being able to control invasions and the flow of potiental uber weapons. And I think this is what we're seeing...

The generals are dropping weapons with 40-50 SSI on them and 50 DI. With SSI being the main property that is going to make for hella powerful weapons if they can be unraveled or imbued.

Just like Powerscrolls (which I also don't agree with) the invasion going to be controlled by those who PvP.

If PvP was like it used to be in the past I'd glady join in and fight.

PvP with dismounting and pets being the norm is total garbage. Players dismounting and throwing their pets on you and popping you with arrows is a crock of #$$% compared to tactics required during the Precasting Mages. I can't accept PvP how it is today compared to what it once was...just can't do it.

Anyhow I don't see myself engaging in something which once required a tremendous amount of skill and know how to the complete joke it is today.

Sorry for the rant and going off topic...I agree with OP that the invasion needs to be made available to all players and the oppurtunity to get a drops from a general should not be controlled by a small minority.

Just so you know, the invasion is not stopping on the 17th.

It's just the Halloween stuff (the Khaldun spawn in the graveyards) that is going to end on the 17th.

I for one don't want the invasions to last any longer than necessary. Trammel Cities are barren of players on most shards as it is. While they might be getting folks there now due to invasions in the long term I don't fore see this as the case. Leaving them in long term will just further a migration to Luna on those shards that still held to WBB. The only reason you'll see people engaging in activities in the Tram Side Cities in the future would be the scripters doing their community collections turn ins.

I agree there should always be a city under attack and I think if a crimson dragon is the only thing left of an invasion when the shard has their downtime it should re-start the standard invasion.

Either that or there should be a better incentive to kill crimson dragons. Repeately getting insta-killed (most people prefer to not die) doesn't serve as a very good incentive and the loot is generally less loot than killing a peerless (at least for me).

I highly doubt these items can be unraveled or imbued. From what I understand, unravelling can only be done "original" items. The invasion-drops arent "original" per se; u cant enhance them, ull get a message saying they are already enhanced. They just look normal. The drops are basicallythe same anyhow, with slightly varying (+/-3%) intensities. Ill probably stop once I get a full set.

I think you are perfectly correct. One city under invasion until the event is over (even if it is not an event and is a long term deal) Those that want all the goodies would post about you needing to pvp more and blah blah blah gibberish

hmm... I don't know about having one city under invasion at all times, but surely at least a few times a day (maybe a half dozen?) wouldn't hurt. On Pacific we cannot rely on the "forces of evil" to take a city and hold it long enough to complete an invasion. I think I speak for my guild on the matter as well.

reason I don't steal sigils anymore...the point system doesn't work

can't be assed to take them if I ain't getting points or silver for them anyhow...

my thief should be around 250-300points instead it is 35 taken towns 25+ times but only gotten points twice (out of a whole batch of 8 I got 10 points of one all taken in the same manor all placed in the same manor.)

and yes I have reported this bug...but devs as allways does nothing

It's perfect if you have both "good guys" AND "bad guys" in factions on your shard and both are active. For those of us whose shards are ONLY controlled by good guys, and don't see an invasion until it's forced out by the Dev team, the invasion set up sucks from here to high heaven.

I've seen 3 and only 3 cities get invaded between server up and 5pm or so Pacific time since this whole thing started, and I check multiple times every day. I've only seen the Crimson Dragon once out of those 3.

The whole thing was doomed to an epic failure right from the start when they decided to make PvP the determining factor for PvM. That decision was about as bright as a broken lightbulb.

They've certainly learned that on Catskills. A lot of the people who are killing every general on Cats and leaving the rest of the spawn are the exact same people who are getting the sigils corrupted. Why, I haven't seen so many PvPers in Trammel... well, ever!

I pay the price when the monthly fee is deducted from my bank account, as is the same for everyone else that plays UO. PvP should NEVER have been used as the determining factor for PvM in what is supposed to be an "epic event" that everyone SHOULD be able to enjoy. Forcing people into a playstyle they don't want to participate in creates animosity, and does nothing for the good of the game.

Non PvP'rs have no interest in PvP. If I say it enough times will it eventually sink in?

No, I don't. Even if I wanted to join factions, there's not one single thing I could do. It would take many, many more people that don't want anything to do with PvP to join factions in order to even have a chance at being able to participate in the event.

Stealing sigils isn't part of the invasion, it's only what triggers it.

The event is the invasion, and since it's not happening on Pacific due to the faction control, we don't have access to it.

The entire design premise was boneheaded.

The problem with that is I'm blonde and I don't know where to go and when I ask for help from other people or the factions folks they just sit there like I don't exist lol I can run around cities all day long but find nothing. I "happened" on to what was left of the crimson dragon in Moonglow last night and it was a pretty grizley sight. All those poor dead people and pets...ugh Anyway, it is confusing for me, no one will help, so therefore I will simply do something else. It's all good (plus I don't think the rewards are worth the insurance money I will spend) That is just my opinion though. And as Connor Graham was saying....If I wanted to PVP I would be doing it. I do not and I'll tell you why...My son PVP's and I watch him (he is 18) and I watch the screen. Let's just say if he were 14 or 15, I would NOT allow him to do it because of the things some of those folks say to each other. I'm not a Bible thumper or a Holy Roller BUT it is absolutely ridiculous how calous and mean some of those players can be. PVP is not honorable as it used to be. It's all about who has the finest doom arties and the biggest, filthiest mouth. No thanks

I have a beggar. Begged and got some gifts. Boring.

I did the thread thing for rubble.

I did the sicarrii think for a giant web.

I check the cities everytime I am on. I have collected some nice armour sets. I have a few rewards from the generals.

I killed 2 crimson dragons boring.

Now I have bought a lot of the event items and resold them.

I go a fight sicarii hoping to get a rare web drop. Sometimes I get venom sacks.

What I am saying is I have participated in all the EVENTS I wanted too.

I just dont get how those of you that say you are impeded are impeded.

It's kind of hard to participate in the event when the event doesn't take place. 3 times in 3 weeks is all I've seen in the 12 hr time frame each day that I'm checking each invasion city.

Did the rubble the first day.

I've killed liches until I'm sick of them, and yes I've made a small fortune selling the spellbooks and talismans.

I've done the Sicarii quest on every character and have the one web I'm going to keep and sold all the rest, so can't do this anymore, not that anyone is ever down there. I got lucky a few times and managed to catch a small group before they bailed. Now there's never anyone down there unless they're farming gossamers.

The only part left is the invasion, which is rarely happening on our shard since the "bad guy" factions aren't active on Pacific.


For the first time since I started playing UO I'm out doing regular hunting and vendor stocking instead of participating in the event that's going on.

That's telling enough by itself.

I'm not impeded, I'm just confused I guess I need to do some reading up on these things more so that I may have more knowledge of what's actually going on (asking in game got me nowhere so I tried following people to Skara and killing the red guys and then was all alone and didn't know why lol) Anyway, I love the game even if I don't get the event stuff. It's still a blast for me

The problem on Pacific is that most everyone is in the Council of Mages faction, and they have had total control of the towns since before the invasion.

The biggest problem with this scenario is that CoM has an unfair advantage by having the sigils in their stronghold. If people haven't noticed there is a rebuild Magincia thing going on, so not only do you have to fight CoM and all their traps blocking the entrance you have to fight off all the ghosts that are walking around Magincia. Then you go into stat loss if you die and have to wait twenty minutes until your skills are high enough again to be of any use.

It has definitely created a dilemma on Pacific. And I really don't want to hear any crying about how Minax has an unfair advantage because of houses close to the entrance of their stronghold.

LOL thats the funny thing.

People complain about no invasions on Sonoma, and I point out they really can go do sometihng about it (join a faction and jump through that red gate).

But they suddenly lose interest at that point.

There's some truth to that, Caspian, but would you really want a bunch of hardcore PVMers in your faction running around trying to pvp? Sounds like an excercise in futility to me. PVP is not for everyone, and certainly not for me. It's probably not for the vast bulk of players on Pacific from what I've seen. There are other things to consider as well, like guild affiliation, someone's gear, template and skill level. Relatively few of us would be more than cannon fodder if we did step through that red gate. We know it, we don't particularly mind and so we steer clear of them.

I'd still like to see at least a couple random invasion occurances a day, just to keep this entire event (which had such promise, but was never realized) from going south. Perhaps we can salvage something from it, wouldn't you agree?

For those of you that have posted about only four (4) days being left, that is not the case. The Halloween content will end on the 17th of November, the event content will be running longer than that. Read the following announcement;

I would imagine that this content will run until the next publish for the event string is ready to go out.
