I have no solid data, but I warn you to take the data from other players with a grain of salt.
I've heard so many different versions of how often the arties drop that I don't believe anything I hear about drop rates (same with gossamer spawns). There are people out there who think it's one in three. Other people say one in over a hundred. Some say luck makes a difference, most do not. Some say only the highest damagers get the drops, but from my experience, that's not the case.
I'm usually in the top two damagers and I haven't received a thing in well over 100 liches. My luck on that character is a paltry 300. My tamer who has 800 luck also received nothing, but hasn't killed more than a dozen of the things. In the upcoming days, I'll try out my archer with a nice crossbow and the conjurer's talisman (which I got from a friend who received 2 talismans in her first 5! again, no luck and definitely not in the top damagers).

Why do you need data? It is a matter of luck, only. (Not luck of your equipment, but luck of life.) The drop is RARE. And it is meant to be rare.
I estimate that every 10th lich drops an item. If you have loot rights together with other 10 people, you will approximately get an item with every 100th lich.

Why do I need data? Because I wanna know approximately how many I need to solo in between drops. If I know about how many, I can estimate how much time I'll need to spend in order to get X drops before the event is over.

Well after fighting them for days I got two books, zero tallys. I did get one tally on day one of the event but I am putting that down as dum luck as the spawn that day around the lich body drove everyone away and I was able to check the body when it became public and found my one and only tally.
The odds will also change depending on the number of people attacking Liche - so far in Jhelom which seems heavily camped I have recieved nothing but when working at some of the other cemetaries where it is usually just 2-3 of us I have managed 3 talis (no spellbooks)

I opened my account back up yesterday and spend about 3-4 hours total killing them recalling to 5 different places killing them. I assume i got really lucky becuase i managed to get 7 items in that time, all books no talismans :< I used a 70sdi necro mage doing like 160 damage fs spam. When i would fight them alone i would stay within two tiles from it on the other side of a wall so that i didnt get sucked in and just cast on it.

For me, the drop rate is very comparable to the Necklaces that Melissa dropped...
Seems like they boosted it or it's just my luck because I've been pulling them in left and right as of today.
Same with another guy recalling around farming them. Says he went 5 for 5!
They are not hard at all to get as long as your not with a group of people trying to kill them.
One or two people is all it takes.

That's pretty lucky I've killed (or helped kill) around 175 liches (give or take 2) and have found 2 spellbooks and 1 trinket.
I just got 2 more drops back to back in between these posts no bull. I think my total for today is 5 books 3 Talismans. By the time the 17th rolls around there are going to be so many they will sell for hardly anything so those who for whatever haven't gotten one don't worry they'll be on luna vendors cheap. They may be alot right now but I guarantee the prices will start falling drastically very soon.
Anyhow I think it's been bumped....They're falling from the sky as far as I'm concerned.

I've been using mostly archer but I don't believe it has any bearing on the chances for a drop. I have gotten drops with my tamer and my mage.
The most important thing is not to be farming where others are in large groups...go find a secluded Grave Yard and work it with as little people as possible.
Your chances for a drop will shoot up.

Not using a tamer, I'm using a pure bard and managed 6 talies (one owned by no one) and one spellbook. Killed around 200 or so.
I'm using an archer, his luck is about 100. I have 11 tals and 2 books so far. One of the tals is owned by no one. I seem to get one after about 8 solo kills. I only have about 90 minutes of play time per day or I would have alot more.

I was using a tamer with +1200 luck for a day and a half. and got nothing.
i switched shards to my mage and solo 2 of them and got a book.. went back to my tamer for a day and nothing. switched to a noobie mage (gm everything) hunted with 4 people , allied with one and got a trinket within 5 liches.
so id say luck has nothing to do with it. (definatly fight in smaller groups)

Melee Paladin, doing an average of 80 a swing ((armor ignore + normal attack) / 2, as every other one is an AI, powered by high HML). I've soloed a dozen, ben in on 100 more. In a typical 4-8 player hunt I do between 1200-2500 points to the Skele lich, total, per lich.
2 drops, both spellbooks, and both in fights with 6 or more participants. I can't get jack in solos or small groups.

I've just noticed that my tamer doesn't get crap either.
Not sure if the pets are just not competing with all the other classes in terms of damage output.
Either that or it's my long standing suspicion that something is messed up in the code when it comes to tamers and their pets. I believe the system doesn't accurately award the tamer all the damage/loot based on the damage their pet did.

On the corpse. Everyone who gets looting rights gets a chance at the item lottery. More people = less chance.
In 2-3 person groups I managed to get one every 35-40 drops.... After I went 0-160+ at first. In other words.... It is completely random.

After almost 2 weeks of misery, and only 3 drops (all books), I got 2 books and 2 talismans in less than 90 minutes tonight.
Typically, there were 3-5 people there for the drops. (went up to about 6-8 when I had to go back to my house to unload)

They should have implemented a point system for these items so that unlucky people like me can get them. I've given up and moved on to other things.

I can usually get one every 6-10 liches, every now and then I get a run (best was 4 out of 4 in a row), I play a bushido dexer with 550 luck on my suit and use perfection, and am convinced that luck does play a part though whether its just the luck from perfection (if that still works or ever did work) or amazingly good rl luck i can't say. Rl luck would be hard pressed to support the same trend going on over a week now..
well i can't tell you the rate but i can tell ya that if you can solo them you will find out what i have. go archer and kill 10 if nothing well your luck not the best 20 if still nothing then ouch sux to be you. I have found if i spend a coupple hours solo i will get somthing some days better then others of course one morning i logged in and killed 10 in about 45 minutes 3 talismans and 2 books off the 10 that was a good day very good day one was owned by also. but i have the luxury of playing on a shard that has no ppl on when i am so i can get them to myself easily. i would guess one in 10 is nearly accurate though true numbers would be up to dev's to tell us but even then the random number generator is so streaky i would not trust them either. on the safe side 1 in 20 will get you somthing if solo.
Just once I would like one of my characters to have the template of the month so I can get something for the time I put in. Too man killed to keep counting and still nothing.
So you can kill one in about 4 minutes?? pray tell what kind of weapon you are using to do that?!! It takes a fencer considerably longer. I would be lucky to kill 1 in 45 minutes *laughs*
Rather easy, once you get the talisman. I used my samurai with an ornate axe (SSI, ML, SL), the conjurer's trinket, perfection, enemy of one, consecrate weapon (the most important spell for the fight) for one lich and killed it in about 3 minutes.
My archer is a little bit more slow, but it's safer since my crossbow has swing speed, hit lower attack and hit lower defense. I estimate about 6-8 minutes on average alone with my archer.
My tamer is painfully slow alone against these things and it uses a ton of bandages (have to know exactly where to stand, as a mistake gets you killed) and I haven't tried with my mage or necro-mage.

I would say I was about the same, in the last 2-3 days, that I have solo'd them with a mainly sub gm mage/necro/weaver, I got 5 books and 2 talismans, since this publish, not a single drop.

It's just bad personal luck.
Consider my case where over 10 days I got 3 books (and nothing since friday), from about 100 liches - and none of the books came from solo kills (and I did a number of those, even though it took 10-15 minutes each on them).
but, After yesterday's publish, i got 4 drops in 90 minutes.
I hardly have the template of the month - in fact, my template's been the same for close to 5 years (only with minor tweaking of skills as I get a better piece of equipment).
With equipment:
120 swords
100 Tactics
100 Anatomy
100 Parry
85 Healing
85 Chivalry
100 CARTOGRAPHY
100 LOCKPICKING
Yes, only 590 in combat skills (70 of it from equipment), and only 220 luck (stats 102/120/62 120/120/70 derived - not like my stamina stayed above 30 for most of the fight).
My best drops have been with 1-3 other people present, 1 being a tamer wearing luck (not sure how much that helped). I typically was the high damager, outdamaging even the greater dragon, because with my mana leeching undead slayer Long Sword, I was hitting for over 140 points every other attack by using armor ignore. Once I got my first talisman, I stopped having to cast enemy of one, and was doing 153-162 per armor ignore.
I've never had a "template of the month" (or year) character, and proud of it.

basic mage template, magery eval med focus and abything else you wanna through in there, you must be new to the game or have a really hard time understanding it.
With a basic mage just casting EV's gets you along way, there is no template of the month. You have 5-7 chars and you mean to tell me not one is a simple basic mage?
When has the populace of UO NOT been playing for drops?
