Why waste my time if im not going to get a drop so far this event doesnt seem fair to some players.I know im not the only one not getting anything and even with max luck lol.

I got a talisman off the very first one I killed. Then it took a lot to get a book and then a 2nd talisman. So, they do drop. But, when too many people are there killing it it just increases the odds of not getting anything ;/

NOTE: the extra spawn at Jhelom spawns in the water stuck. After a time and few rotations just you lich and few friends you tell. Well make that all your new friends that has read this also. LOL
BEGGERS: Want a pool of targets? Hire two paladins in trinsic to follow you. Get and escort NPC to follow you. Head to the reef and rescue a prisoner from the bandits to follow you. Four targets to set hotkeys to target begging at. Also all the bandit, gypsies and herders on the reef can be begged.
Short you can get a load of hirelings moved and released in a small room.They have deep pockets and can be begged over and over.
Don't work harder. Play smarter.

Same deal here... I have been killing them since the start and havent gotten a thing... hear some people saying they got a bunch and seen people with the items but no luck on my end... keep trying hopefully you will get something before it is all over...

Are you using a tamer? I shleved my tamer, because I found the loot drops appeared to be < 1/2 as frequent on tamers as they are on other things.
I like playing my tamer, but there doesn't appear to be very good loot for playing a tamer anymore, so I'll play my mages or archers. Archers seem to get the best drops every event.
Same boat. You would think there would be a way to progressivly give points for drops but that doesn't ever seem to be a concern. I have watched 2 people in 2 hours get 6 drops between them. One got a "owned by no one" tali off his first skelly. Then get another and a book within an hour. Welcome to the horror that is RNG rewards.

that's a lot to kill and get nothing..
I got one of the spell books as loot last night after killing maybe 12-15 of the liches using an archer. Lost track of how many she killed after that without getting another book or a talisman, but suppose it was maybe another 40. The folks I was with were mostly using tamers the whole time we were doing that (maybe 2 hours) and neither one got a talisman or book.

I wouldn't bet on it but I am pretty sure they tweaked the drop rate, WORSE and not better as someone stated here.
I used to solo em with my archer in europa, after the patch I need around 10 kills for one drop. So, 4 ppl farming need 40 kills to get one each.
The drop rate was double before. Anyway I could be wrong.
Luckily I got a owned by noone , maybe I sell it, maybe not eheheh

Ok maybe i am doing it all wrong but i have yet to get anything from first one to about 50 now... plus why is it that this thing kills my greater dragon like it's nothing....i don't under stand how people really solo these things... my pet dies while i am healing it then i die

I kill 5-6 liches per 5minutes and I've gotten around 10 sets of them now. That's hours a day. The odds are fine, you're either simply not doing enough damage to get a larger percentage of the loot, sitting at one graveyard waiting for respawn instead of recalling to every single one and getting loot rights on them all per cycle, or just have bad luck. Either way it's perfectly fine the way it is, there's actually a very high amount of them and they'll be worth very little by the end of the 17th.
So if you're not willing to put the time in and grind with the off chance you may not see one for an entire day of nonstop grinding then just wait till the end of the event and buy them for cheap.

Tried the archer, the mage, and the tamer... was hunting them in the morning... was hunting them in the evening... was hunting them solo, small group, and large group... but still nothing to show for it...
Maybe I should try my blacksmith and see if I can smelt a book or tali out of him

Need a bottle over there? Youre the kind of player that has brought UO to its downfall. I'm an old-school player that has returned after 6 years and I cant stand the mess that players like you have left the game in. I cant believe all the loot that is left behind in the Skeletal Liches! You guys are only out for the Talisman... how lame.

I spent countless hours fighting them and have 0 to show for it... Got plenty of gold and worthless loot though.
I haven't got anything either. I have done it on different characters still nothing. Some people must be really lucky.
As long as I get one of each before it ends I'll be happy. Well I would actually like 2 of each so I can lock down one set on the floor of my house with the rest of my event items.

The spawn drops seem to not favor the casual player. If you don't endlessly farm the lich,you stand little chance to get what you are after.

woj, your statement about us being there just for the talisman/book has no meaning to it. The loot flat out sucks on the liches. Even w/ near 1000 luck it still sucks. The talisman/book are the only good things that the lich has dropped thus far. I've killed at least 30+ and have only gotten two MEDIOCRE items. Things I could find on an ogre lord.
For how hard the lich is to bring down, the loot sure does suck. Sure it can be solo'd, or done in a small group, or brought down faster with a larger group. If I were to farm items i'd go kill Swoop or something. The lich at this point, with loot, isn't meant to be killed for it's loot, just for the talisman/book.

Seems rather unlikely. I'd say I've killed 20 or so, and while I haven't gotten a talisman, I've gotten 4 Conjurers Tomes so far.
But hey, of all people, I know how unlucky one can be when it comes to drops in Ultima Online (Doom Gauntlet Veteran.... need I say more)

I'm a lucky ******* anyway, considering my 1 artie drop in half a year of Doom.

Seriously, I ran the Gauntlet almost every week for nearly a year before I actually got my first drop (Jackal's Collar). I still remember shouting with joy when I saw those ecstatic "artifact has been bestowed on you" words.
Then there was the time the Gauntlet was a giveaway game for about a month, and I stacked up a few more... but you know what, as much as I bitched and moaned about never getting the damn drops, nothing quite matched the excitement and fun of The Gauntlet. Holding my breath as the last HPs drain from the DF, looking expectantly down at the lower lefthand corner.... the fact that I never got the artie really made the reward that much sweeter when I finally did get it.

I got my first drop on the 167th liche I helped kill. It happened a couple of liches after a kind hearted sould took pity on me and gave me a book. I was literally the last person in the group that got a drop. I have no idea how the RNG works, but it is not even remotely equitable character to character and player to player. Some folks get drops frequently, others get drops extremely rarely.... If you are a casual player AND you end up being one of the extremely rare crowd.... You can get VERY discouraged.

I think the drop rates scale based on how many people are involved in the fight.
The more people fighting the more likely something drops. The unfortunate side effect of this system is that everyone is in a race to do the most damage. In other words, everyone is a chiv archer of some sort.

Well, original beta player here and I must disagree. First of all, no one thing caused UO's decline. Greedy players hoarding pixelcrack isn't the reason, because EVERY MMORPG has the same thing rampant.
I don't really think you can say UO has had a "downfall." Fact is, EA will pull the plug one day, and a 10 year run makes it a successful RPG by any measure... in a realm where many MMORPGs fold after 2-3 years or so.
But the greed of players camping events isn't in the top issues. I'd say if you had to say what is causing UO's twilight, in the following order:
1 - OSI and EA's total inaction (and refusing to acknowledge) the game crippling duping (which destroyed our economy) and the rampant blatant scripting (which has severely degraded our confidence in the TOS enforcement)
2 - Age of Shadows, totally selling out UO to an item-based system making our skills useless after several years of building them.
3 - EA's lack of caring about this game, other than how to squeeze another dime out of it without spending much.
4 - The Dread Lord Days PKs, which drove away many newbies and gave this game a horrible reputation.
5 - It's just an old game. It was made in the 90s. Nobody stays on top forever.
But you know, we've been down this road so many times, debated it to death.
But player pixelcrack greed isn't any worse here than it is on WoW, EverQuest, PotBS, etc.
I often wonder the same. There are times when I think about the fact that these folk must be smart enough to understand the frustration(assuming they play) and I'm constantly amazed by the lack of usage of the tokuno code system. That system is, by far, one of the most liked systems by the players. Mostly because you know eventually you will get a drop. Then there is the champ spawns that aren't used. The alacrity scroll system....eh...at least there is something worthwhile to do.
I see the same people at these events having the drops in a matter of hours and after several days of killing I still have nothing to show for it. Really feeling like its a waste of time to bother with the events.

I'm somewhere between 250-300 of them, thus far, 4 talis and 0 books. I've tried 4 different chars, all different types. The drop rate seems over 1 or 2%, but not much higher if higher at all. I can't tell if there is a disparity between books and talis, though thus far there has been for me. I've tried each cemetary, there seems no difference. In a group of more talkative players, it seems drops occur in "spurts" followed by lengthy "dry spells." For example, at one point 5 talis and 2 books dropped on consecutive liches (3 of them), and it was more than 2 hours before anyone got anything else. As for loot beyond the special drops, I'd say it's as bad as it can get. I took a char with 2300 luck just to see if I could nab anything reasonable - that didn't even help!

I can say that your odds of getting a book/tali seem to go WAY up fewer folks that are on the Lich, or so it seems to me. All the drops I got were with 1 to 4 folks on the lich, once you get into 5 and 10 person lich pile-ons the odds seem to get longer.

After hunting for the majority of the evening... finally got 2 books and 1 talisman... this didnt happen though until after about an hour of graveyard hopping...
Figured since the drop rate was so low the only logical conclusion was to increase the amount that I killed... I was able to do three cemetaries back to back without stopping... Good Luck and Have Fun!!!

I could have sworn the drops are account tied... seems like there are a couple of instances where first-timers get their drop in their first few tries...

I got so many using my bushido/chiv archer on Pac that I got bored and started trying to get some on Sonoma.
My only somewhat pvm capable char on that shard is my pvp mage/tamer. I have been killing liches non-stop for approx. 6 hours over the last few days and havent got crap yet. I've soloed the liches, etc.
Seems like the drop rates for tamers is messed up. I was literally getting a drop about once an hour on my bushido/chiv archer.
