I was hunting in the Brit graveyard just now and each time I would cast any direct damage spell on a skeletal lich,I would be teleported right on top of the lich and insta-killed....sheesh...gimme a break....

Hunters' Moon, you've done harrowers before. The Lich is simply mimicking the harrower's teleport attack whenever you do any kind of direct damage to it, be it with spells, arrows or potions. Just fight him the same way you fight the harry.

Its not teleporting onto me. I am being pulled right on top of it with each attempt to hit it with a direct damage spell.

yes, which is exactly what the harry does. Teleports you to him, not him to you. Do you know how many times I've had to run away from the true harrower after he pulled me in for fear of being blown up by the pots I had been tossing at him? :p

Except the Skeletal Liche's other special ability makes it different from a Harrower. It has some new fangled target switching code which will go after the owners of summons/pets. So you really can't fight it exactly like a Harrower. Sicarii also has this ability as well. This isn't even the same as what Paragons do. It looks like someone finally got around to putting an end to the easy road for Tamers/Mages.

Yeah 'fraid so. I play Catskills. My main is a pve tilted pure caster which means I wouldn't stand a chance in Fel and red raiding. Add to that I play very late/very early which means there is no way I could champ hunt anything more than something like barracoon.

Actually tamer/mage was exactly how Terry and I have done them. My tamer, his mage. Both of us casting heal on my cu sidhe because I couldn't stand with her to heal her. Though I'm not sure we can still do that. We were taking it just to the edge of the spawn so that she didn't get swamped by smaller stuff, can't do that any more.
It probably needs a team now, some to take down the skeletal lich and some to keep the smaller stuff off their back while they do.

Too bad theres not much of a "team" to knock off the lich when I play. The lich has an easy time against my summons with dispells and direct attacks is a teleport\insta grey screen for me. oh well....

I solo him just using EVs if no one is around to screw it up and kite fiends all over the place.

Can also throw in FS's as long as the Evs are alive. The summon ability isn't 100% it's just random, as long as your armor is good enough and your HP is high enough it should only hit you for maybe half of your health and follow up with a pain spike. If you have more than 100hp you should be fine with a 65 or more resists suit. Though If you really dont like the summon stuff, just cast Evs from a distance and keep casting it till it's dead.

Takes a while but it's quite easymode if you are patient and don't feel like nuking. You get hit once when you're summoned to him, you then have literally a split second to move away before he hits you again. So there's very little room for error, it's quite doable though. Solo, that is. Sampires are still very capable of soloing it with ease and only have to move away sometimes if their parry fails them to heal up and jus go back and whack it some more.

Archers have it the easiest, just stand on the opposite side of the fence and shoot till it's dead, if you get summoned in, just run away and get back on the other side. Some stuff isn't *meant* to be soloed, but players are always capable of doing so because of the limited AI scripting that this game can contain, there's not much capability in requiring a team effort. UO has always just been more of a clusterf*** of players zerging something till it was dead. There is NO team spirit, it's quite simply every man out for himself, run away from the spawn, invis let it attack someone else. Don't rez people, kite fiends and other mobs directly through other players etc...

Quite sad how different american and european shards clear public content like this and doom compared to how japanese and chinese servers do it. Asian server players are MUCH more capable with everyone knowing how to play and how to help the other for the good of the group instead of the individual.

I wish america could adapt that mentality one day.

I dunno about you but the lich pops my ev's like they are balloons.

Can also throw in FS's as long as the Evs are alive.
I had two ev's up that didn't get quickly dispelled and I started hitting it with ebolts and then pop...grey screen.

arghhh,come on,
skel lich is easy to do, many templates can solo him,
i only die if there are 2-3 of the black monster plus skel lich, if they cast all at once u have zero chance :)

be carefull, if the black monster are near, stop fighting/casting the skel lich and safe ure self first.

and i think most of u insta dead´s have to rethink ure template,
the skel lich and the crimson dragon are NOT to hard

LOL I just saw this. TOOOOO funny Sak, I laughed so hard ;) We have been mistaken for each other before and had to clarify since our names are so similar. Not enough harries recently though... You guys put in so much stuff I am going nuts trying to do it all at once. Pretty soon I am going to end :stretcher: from staying up until 3am every night :mf_prop:

Doh, there are 2 of you!? I never realized that either!

Helpful hints:

1) The skel lich doesn't pull tamers if you sic your pets on them, or mages that uses EVs, only Sicarii does that...*shudders*...
2) If he is next to a fence, fire at him from the other side of the fence - in a stright line, that way when he pulls you over, the fence will be in the way and you end up on the other side and will still be separated by the fence
3) If using a spellweaver, cast attunement, should allow you to survive 1 hit
4) If using a spellweaver, cast gift of life
5) If there are alot of people fighting him, most of the time when he pulls you over, he won't be quick enough to attack you before you run off
6) If no one is around, use ev and only ev to wear him down. med to full mana then keep casting ev back to back as soon as he kills/dispels one. When you are out of mana, run away and med to full mana again, then rinse and repeat. Takes pretty long, so you might be better off recalling around to find one that a group of people are fighting
7) Lure the unseen thingies far away. You can engage the skel lich with 1 ev, then while he is occupied, lure the unseen thingies somewhere else, invis to break target lock, then go back to the skel lich

I solo them all the time on my mage/necro/weaver. Wraith form, get a focus crystal. Cast the weaver spell that gives you SDI (Can't remember the name), corpse skin it, flamestrike away. Not only do you take its mana so it can't cast on you but I hit it for 160+ damage each flamestrike.

Insta-killed?

You don't need a break. You need to invest in a real suit of armor.

I have been teleported about a hundred times already and maybe died only 3 or 4 times(and a couple of those were because I was being lazy and not keeping my health up previous to being teleported)

Not sure what is the case here but I will say that so many times I see players trying to fight the highest level monsters with crap gear. Dying in this case is quite justified. I have no compassion for these people. Stick with what you can handle.

There are a billion different and legit ways to make more then enough gold to wear good gear.

Wear average or crap gear-fight average or crap spawn
Wear good or great gear-fight the toughest spawn.

Its not rocket science and most of the time it doesnt even apply as the Devs have made it too easy to fight the nasty critters in some cases :(

Peace :)

Try getting some better resists on your armor like Goldberg said. It shouldn't be killing you in 1 hit. It usually takes 2 or 3 hits and that should only happen if you aren't quick to get away.

If you are doing it alone and using the graveyard fence, try just teleporting over the fence when it pulls you in. Trying to heal right away will probably reward you with a dirtnap, I found that out the hard way.

Good luck.

you're not fast enough. when you get teleported, run. simple. i survive 19 out of 20 teleports by simply running behind something and invising real fast.

besides, why do a direct attack that often? if you keep EV's up (assuming you're not trying to solo it), you should do enough damage to get a chance for a book or tali. with events like this, all you need to do is the bare minimum to get loot rights. let the chick with the dog or the guy with honor who's hitting it for 200 a pop do the work for you ...

oh, and 1-hit-kill either means you ahve bad resist or low HP. now, a 2-hit kill is likely. i have 120 HP and over 65 on all resists (and 42 DCI, not that it matters) and i have been red-lined from one hit. don't heal, like they said. 1) run 2) invis 3) heal

*looks confused at all of you*

They do 50-65 damage to me. No chance at a one hit kill from that.

Their pretty easy to solo, most of the time they only teleport once on the first attack. I've solod them with every char except my mule and stealther, if I threw a suit on my stealther I could do it with him too. (mirror images>pvm)

As for sicarii she seems no different to meph aside from laying dread spider eggs.

Have to agree with most of these other posters.

The liches will teleport you, but there's no way they are 1 hit killing you unless you have really crappy armor.

Soloed the liches on 3 different chars yesterday, 1 of them was in Fel where I had some blue attacking me as well.

Good times.
