will 2d users be able to access SA content?

I know this has probably been asked before but Ive been away for about four months and just have heard SA is back on the table and should be released sometime next year so I was wondering if 2d users will have access to the new expansion? Cause right now budget and area wise Im unable to get a faster connection so stuck on anicent dial up..lol

yes. Both the new client and traditional 2D client will be allowed to access the new areas.

Having dropped in here after a 12 month sabatical to take a look around and see if the state of UO is improved I find this ... amusing. Maybe the wrong word.

Anyway ... let me take you back to the old stratics site ... there was a post there entitled "should SA be made 2d compatible". It had hundreds of replies. The vast majority said yes, and that if it wasnt they wouldnt be buying it. A few said no, and of those few there were half a dozen or so that even stated that if SA WAS made 2d compatible then they would quit UO.

Well well. You know who you are. You are all still prolific posters on these forums. Will you be quitting as stated or was it all just BS from the KR zealots? Quitting ... ? No. I thought not. Just BS.

You bet! We're taking great care to make the content in SA be not only accessible in 2D, but look as good as possible.

I will be honest though, even now, in the worldbuilding we've worked on so far, the terrain looks absolutely gorgeous compared to 2D in the SA client.

Call me cynical, but you said the same thing about the KR terrain when that was being developed and we all know the 'mixed' reception that got. I'll believe it when I see it ... your word means nothing to me.

You're insanely cynical. The terrain art in KR (soon to be SA) is one of the best graphical aspects of the client.

I would HATE for terrain artwork to be downgraded back to Legacy... the detail is just too nice to give up.

That is purely your opinion. A LOT of people hate the way KR looks and that is their opinion which they are quite entitled to. No amount of the Devs saying how good it looks is going to change peoples minds.

I can't play KR due to it making me literally physically ill. The graphics are... too blendy?

I can play other 3D games (i.e. LOTRO, WoW, Pirates, etc.) but KR gives me motion sickness. Everything blends together even if you take a single step.

I'm a 2D junkie and I will remain so. If KR worked for me personally, I would switch.

So glad 2D is being implemented into SA

If we were talking about advertising in general then youre perfectly correct. What we are talking about here though is EA and its tarnished reputation following the KR debacle. Theyve given up on advertising and are trying to sell to those they already have as customers, and those customers in general have a poor opinion of EA where UO is concerned. In short ... their word means very little.

And thanks .... its err ... interesting, to be back. Sometimes taking a break can be a good thing.

OnlyMoi.....I know the feeling. I have tried to play the KR version several times. Each time I had to stop after about 5 minutes. My head would start to pound after the first minute. I felt as if my eyes were trying to cross by the third minute. By the 5th I had to log before I tossed me cookies!!! I love UO...have loved it from the start. Am very happy to hear the SA will be in 2D as well. As I am now a guild of 1...LOL...everyone else turned traitor and left for WOW, another game I can't play because of the graphics. I still trudge on alone and will continue to do so. I keep trying KR on and off in the hopes that I will adjust....Just in case 2D goes POOF in the future. Now, I think I will look for another Guild to join in hopes of having others around to watch my back while I watch theirs in return.
