So.....

I decide to go yet again today and see if any invasion activity is going on since I haven't been able to find ANY the past 3 days. I make the rounds of all the towns, and with the exception of Brit that has the NPC's marked with "Falsehood" and no recall into the area (other than this there's nothing happening there), I can't find any evidence that any invasion is taking place anywhere.

They must have caught wind that I was around and decided to beat it out of town before I showed up.

Seriously, where the hell is the invasion? There hasn't been any evidence of it that I've seen on Pacific since it went live.

I don't have a faction character. As a matter of fact, I have NO character set up for PvP since I have no wish to participate in UO PvP.

If the majority rule is either TB or CoM, how would playing your Minax or SL character make a difference? 1v25 doesn't work out well, especially if they have guards all around the sigils or have thieves making sure they get the sigils back asap.

Well... maybe on your shard the good guys have it all set...

On all shards I play Evil is paramount...

Guess this proves the old D&D rule... there is no Good without Evil.

Yeah, but it sure would be nice if this particular circumstance had some type of plan made for it. Currently there isn't a damn thing to do on Pacific event wise except farm the liches.

Oh boy.........are we having fun yet?

What you should do is everytime Fel forces an invasion, it also chops a few blocks off each of the Tram GY totems :). Maybe that would motivate some folks to bring the community together.

Where have you been Connor? I have already killed two Crimson Dragons. One in Skara, and one in Trinsic. And I only checked on the first day.

While that's all good and well, that just happens to be when I CAN'T participate in it. Figures.

This event is turning into a bunch of crap on Pacific. I don't know about the rest of the shards, but all anyone is doing is farming the Liches. No one fighting for gossamers, no one doing anything for the invasion.

Nothing.

Connor, the invasions are centered around where the sigils are located in the towns in Fel. The picture below shows maps centered on these spots in all eight of the faction cities. Hope this helps.

I don't like your connotations regarding who's responsible. Don't blame the devs for this totally awesome publish because:

it was your shards choice.

We the players determine the course this games takes and you are complaining to them that it's not the choice you would of made, but the choice everyone else playing around you did.

Someone should have thought of the fact that SL isn't dominant, or even active, on every shard. It's very possible that without any kind of active "evil" faction that shards may not even see the invasion past whatever they're going to force out over the weekend. It sure as hell hasn't been happening for the past 3 days.

Factions has been dead for how long? And they expect it to be the deciding factor for an invasion event in Tram? And the supposed "epic" one at that.

So far the only "epic" I've seen is an epic failure.

I find the Cowardice NPCs curiously endearing, especially when I manage to trick-or-treat them as they run past - it leads to amusing journal logs like "*screams incohorently* OOH, AREN'T YOU CUTE!"

Normally I don't come on to participate in the dev-bashing here. However, just to balance out the fact that someone on Pacific isn't having fun, I'd like to mention that my shard, Oceania, has a very large (proportionally; the actual shard has about thirty people on it) and active PvP playerbase. Consequently, I am having an absolutely fantastic time with the invasion, and I'm fairly sure most of the other players are too. I've already seen a crimson dragon die - I won't say I helped kill it; I hung back and healed the more elite players while they dashed around - and, for the first time in my playing life, an event is drawing me curiously into Felucca. (I was promptly PKed. That very large and active PvP playerbase? They’re territorial.)

It's fun. I like the invasion, and I like the rules it's based on. On a balanced shard, and even moreso on a slightly unbalanced shard like Oceania (and from what I can tell, OSI UO is a predominantly PvP game these days) it's running like a well-oiled machine, and it is completely different to the simple boring monster-swamp invasions of the past, which our tiny little community could do nothing about. While the Pacific player's grievances are also legitimate and I'm sure that the invasion is going glitchily on that shard, from what I've seen on my own, I'd like to congratulate and thank the devs for the event.

Besides, nothing on UO – nothing – will ever beat the laugh I had when my character opened the doors of Castle British and was positively swamped by enraged Hatred-infested nobles. ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE!

I would also like to thank you for the Magincia quests. At first I thought that I’d broken it, as the forsaken souls miraculously stopped spawning and just stood around wailing sadly; now we’re swimming in them, so that’s all good. The corrupted souls’ savage ganking is entertaining, and I like the poignant little things the restless souls say when a necromancer frees them. You’ve essentially given us a PvP event and a roleplay event (…I roleplay with NPCs sometimes) at the same time, and it is wonderful.

As far as I’m concerned, if you don’t like the event the way it is, the answer is to become more involved. Even if you don’t like PvP. It won’t hurt you. If I can take my character meant solely for roleplaying into Felucca and enjoy being chased around in circles by murderers, then so can you. It’s fun! Running from people is fun! Attacking people on the off chance that they might be having a bad day and be killable is fun! Lack of variety is damaging to the game, and the same can be said of any individual’s play-style. Try it. If the whole shard is out there PvPing, you might just enjoy it.

My apologies for the huge post! Like I said, I normally don’t comment on UHall – but I’m having such a great time with this event that I just had to have my two cents’ worth.

Lack of willing players. Factions has been dead for years. This event isn't going to change anything. Nothing has changed as far as factions other than the addition of a few arties for it.

* Removed the limit on number of total players in a factions
* Removed the auto-balancer on factions. Larger guilds can now join faction of choice without being redirected to another faction
* Players can now join the same faction with as many characters as they want, on a given shard
* Non-factioners can do beneficial actions such as healing to factioners in Trammel rulesets
* Faction vendors no longer block faction guards or players
* Faction abbreviations show in the player's onscreen name in Felucca
* Enemy faction members/guild members con Orange correctly, instead of letting Red status override it
* Factions commanders can remove their own faction's traps without skill, without a kit
* Faction trap deeds won't get stuck anymore on non-factioners

* Siege/Mugen players will no longer be susceptible to losing points for autodefending against griefers

Certainly!

Silver:
Each of the monsters in the invasion drops a certain amount of silver. This amount varies between 1 and 5, depending on the overall difficulty of the monster.

Example: Minoc monster's are of the plague variety. Slimes are worth 1, and Bog Things are worth 5.

Some monsters that are usually considered boss mobs, such as the Shadow Knight in the Doom Gauntlet , are worth up to 25.

Additionally, the Shadowlord Army (humans), are worth 1 to 2 silver each.
For the Army, this base value is multiplied by rank as follows:
* Scout: 2x
* Corporal: 3x
* Lieutenant: 4x
* Captain: 5x
* General: 6x

Finally, there is a very rare chance that the silver will be given a special bonus on certain mobs.

For instance, a slime may normally be only worth 1 silver, but, in 2% of cases, it will be worth 2x that.
* 2% chance for 2x
* 1% chance for 4x
* 0.05% chance for 8x
* 0.03% chance for 16x
* 0.01% chance for 32x

This overall rare chance bonus does stack with the Shadowlord Army rank bonuses. It is possible to find a General worth 384 silver, or a Shadow Knight worth 800.

As you can imagine, this could lead to *very* lucrative silver gains, even by the lowliest mob, as long as one determinedly attacks the invasion.

Faction battles: Silver and Killpoint bonuses
Fighting enemy faction members in a warzone (any faction city) yields bonus killpoints and silver as follows.
* Silver received is double
* Killpoints are doubled, however, the extra amount is *not* deducted from the victim. The extra amount is simply a bonus given to the victor

Faction Thieves
Faction thieves receive 10 killpoints and 100 silver for successfully stealing a sigil that ends up capturing a town. This must be from start-to-finish, and the thief must remain online until the sigil is corrupted and returned to the town pedestal.

A second thief taking the corrupted sigil from base to pedestal will receive no reward, the original will be credited.

let the skelleton lich drop smal wabs also.
trade your undead book and tali for a web.

DO something to give us FUN (remember dev´s,each moth we spent 13,99€ per Acc.)

we have day 2 or 3 of the event, to see more player now is normal behavior.
every event time the player come back for the event.
that doesnt mean the whole event is a success.

for trick and treat: we asked for a small chance for not gm beggars, but the 10 gm beggars on stratics won :(

fell is empty and will be empty in the future, they changed nothing.
most player dont like poor antisozial criminal behavior, thats fact.


maybe some people follow storyline, But most not.

I was in magicina today on atlantic and there was about 20 players working the quests . There also happened to be a crimson dragon there and no one was fighting it. I soloed it for about an houe(dies) and then got a few buddys to help and still no one would help. 20 of them! i mean wtf. I had to goto luna and brit to gather up a posse. After that it took less the 5 mins. What was best was all the fire feilds after and seening a bunch of players runn up to loot and die for it! LOL that was a BLAST!

Did one in vesper and yes my dragon was "rather happy" when i loged out to return to jehelom. Ouch hat was fast barley made it to the bank red bared and poisoned for some raw ribs!

Moonglow is a nightmare Uggghh. I mean double Uggg. Those dang etherals ar a nasty lot they are. Didnt seem like many players liked that spawn and we didnt spawn the crimmy. Tried like hech though. What was kool was the crimmson leather suit i got for later imbueing Woot! Also got a crimson plate suit and a chain suit all crimson. I want to make a an archer suit old school!

I am not doing much in the shadowlord event yet. The Halloween event only lasts a bit over two weeks. So I am doing all the halloween stuff first. The Shadowlord event isn't shutting down in two weeks... at least they haven't said it was. So I'll get more involved in it later. One thing I'm curious about, will there be a use for the special gems or are they just a little bonus? Doesn't matter to me much either way... just wondering.

with the exception of Brit that has the NPC's marked with "Falsehood" and no recall into the area (other than this there's nothing happening there), I can't find any evidence that any invasion is taking place anywhere.

this means there was a living Crimson Dragon still walking around the city.


Ive been stalking these invasions like crazy and altering lots of people. want to give me your ICQ?

Hey Connor i kow there's been at least 10 crimsons spawn on Pac over the last 2 days, they seem spawn after like 6-7 pac time. just city hop and check for no red monsters and red npc hatred n the falsehoods and run around u'll find em, if not pm me and i'll icq u when i see em pop, i've personally done 9 dragons in last 2 days with my guildmates

Lack of willing players. Factions has been dead for years. This event isn't going to change anything. Nothing has changed as far as factions other than the addition of a few arties for it.
Yeah but the players could easily change the state of factions on your shard :p Just noone wants to.

But the changes they did really wasen't enough to make players want to participate in factions. I mean sure they have all these shiney "new" artifacts to use, but most of us already paid an arm & a leg or grinded our you know what off to get the "real" ones.

Factions is fun and all but there's still no "point" the the whole thing in it. Sure it all goes back to those "new items" now, but the ones I have work just find and at least these will last forever ;x.

A player asked me today why my guild wasen't participating in factions etc. anymore, and that they thought we would be big into it, stealing sigils etc. But why? Why would I want to steal a sigil, guard it for 4-6 hours and gain no real benefit from doing so. Do I really want to go fight two other factions who team up just to fight me first in Brit while random blues/reds stand outside the base with bolas, super dragons, beetles, etc. waiting to gank/grief me? Nope don't think so ;x

Factions COULD be a fun system that could have a lot more to it, but it isn't. There could be a ladder of sort to climb to the top of by kills, kill points, deaths, sigil steals etc. that got reset every so often. But it isn't. Instead there's stealthers hidden in entrances chopping boxes of candles leaving no path to walk out without moving 30 candles. GM turnaround time is too slow, you die, you've already been in and out of stat loss etc. Nothing happens to the players doing so. You got a broken moongate in Magnicia with 20 faction guards around it for insta death. Faction guards mindblasting for 30+ damage against 70 cold resist etc. Player homes placed directly outside the SL base entrance, the minax mountains where 2 opposite factions share it to grief another faction with random blues inside interfering ;x. Fun times right!

So I can see why you don't want to participate in em, i see that part ;x.

yes, dump,antisozial and criminal gameplay get forced in uo, nothing else.
faction COULD be fun, but the dev´s dont do it right. :(

Why? Because it's screwing with the part of the game that I do enjoy.
I am really surprized that they finally disillusioned Connor.

But, they have been progressively screwing up PVM for the sake of PVP since Samari. Sounds like they are still firmly on the same track. That's one of the main reasons I quit, that and the all the stuff they did to screw up resource gathering. Not to mention the ending any reason to do the solen quests anymore, which where the best designed quests in the game.

Making everything rely on factions is just another way to get people to PVP that don't want to PVP.:thumbdown:
