Question about the Magincia Quest

The quest giver wants me to get five Threads of Thought. So far I've been killing Restless Souls and Corrupted Souls with my mage. After killing tons of those, I gathered three Threads of Fate. However, to get Threads of Thought, I'd have to release Forsaken Souls, right? I have no necromancer character!

Does this mean, the quest can only be done by necromancers, cause they can cast Exorcism?

On test center, I just killed them with my archer to get the threads of thought.

I haven't tried that on the main shards, since when I did that quest, it was buggy. But you should just be able to kill them.

Aren't they the transparent ones with the yellow names? They cannot be harmed, as far as I know.

3 theads of life is spirit speak, 5 threads of thought is spirit speak and necromaner, and 10 threads of fate. For threads of fate is just killing the corrupted souls, but before sever went down, I did as the quest said and tried sword in hand and spell, I killed and killed the corrupted souls and never got a thread of fate.

Now I think there is a bug with that quest and I also ran into an invulnerable corrupted soul, which I had not noticed those being on the test center but is presently on the production shard.
ps, if you have any threads from past event, you can use those on these quest.

Meaning, if I don't have threads from the past events, I cannot finish this quest without having a necromancer, right?

I know no other way to finish those first two quest without spirit speak and necromancy

The only other way is to buy the threads of thought from another player, (assuming you're doing it for the rubble), as you don't have to collect them yourself...just hand them in.

I'm collecting all the threads on my necro and then giving them to my other chars to do the quests, apart from the exorcism one which isn't actually working but a fix is coming.

Just realised by accident there is a way to kill them without using exorcism on them

There are some Forsaken souls that are running around in circuits on the old streets. They can be killed or exorcised (they were accidentally immune to damage on the 29th, which was fixed the morning of the 30th), and are a royal pain to catch with an exorcism spell because you have to get in front of them (they move at mounted speeds) and let rip with the spell while they are in the area of effect.

I just checked with a 0 spirit speak character, and ANYONE can use spirit speak to release those souls - even the 20 from humans Jack of all trades is enough.

The being immune to damage bit was because they had already been exorcised or killed. They just wouldn't go away. I solved that problem by doing the thread of thought quest in Felucca, which unwittingly solved the problem of the running ghosts in the same stroke. The ghosts would run through me, but they wouldn't run through my three pets whom I brought along for the security (2 bake kitsune and a dark wolf), making them an easy target for exorcism.

And Pike, like Basara said, you can kill the forsaken (gray) souls for the threads of thought, kill the red souls for the threads of fate and spirit speak the yellow souls for the threads of life. Or if you need it, you could ask a certain 2 bake kitsune dragging dark wolf friending necromancer guildmate if he has any extras. I think by now I have enough (at least fate and life, I didn't give much thought to thought.) to give a bunch away. And I got my tree, so I'm good for the rubble.

If you play Atlantic I can help with threads of thought. The other thing is after talking to people last night, if you are human, you can use JOAT spirit speak on restless souls. It will still fail sometimes, but I was told that it will work.

OK, maybe not this quest. It's rather dull any way you do it. But at least it goes rather quickly.

i dont know, but i kill 100s of these with magery and never got one thread of thought.

Pete, the threads of thought are dropped by forsaken souls. There are people that have posted that they are able to get them by killing the forsaken souls in combat rather than using exorcism.

For Threads of Life (need 3 from Restless Souls), use a human char's JOAT. As long as you fire off a successful spirit speak attempt, you should be golden.
