What logic is there in the armor engraving tool only having 30 charges?

I believe sometime in the recent past there was a special code that opened up new housing tiles and such but only for a short while? My Account has the latest Expansion (ML) but on the Customize Housing screens there are many tiles I can't use and give an error saying I need to upgrade to another expansion??? I've been told there was supposed to be a Code you could buy to fix this but it never showed up on the website...
When you look into adding the 11th year codes, which I'll definately buy some of, would you please find out what codes are missing to open the additional housing tiles for those with ML but who've been away from the game for a while and add those codes for purchase as well?

I couldn't agree more Wolfie, give one set THEN & ONLY THEN pay for a 2nd set if you want it. Now if they are going to CHARGE us for a damn Hitching Posts, are we EVER going to get MORE STABLE SLOTS that we have asked for for Ages... longer then Sieges ROT changes? You keep adding more tame ables BUT DO NOT increase our Slots to hold these creatures. Pls., can the ones of us that have asked for more stable slots get an Honest answer if it will ever happen. Ty

Hear..Hear..We havent had a box on the shelves in the US since 9th ann. came out..not to mention the uocodes website still dosent work properly for me keeps looping back to the login screen for my account info when I do enter it to buy something. Which means if I want to buy these more then likely will have to call or email EA.. which there customer support on the phone can be a pain.

I can see why they don't want to give away a random token per toon... do you know how many people have multi-accounts and have 5-7 toons on every shard for cross shard trading? Tons of people would have 100+ tokens on day 1...
I would like to see them email a token to every active account holder or something like that though... one token code for every account would be easy to give away and I doubt would hurt their purchase numbers in the long run.

The Ancestral Gravestone doesn't really get my mouth watering , but it would have been VERY cool if it were a decoration you can engrave some memorial text on, such as "In fond memory of Fluffy the Llama".
Or for the roleplayers "Lord Thomas Maple - 1997-2006". Roleplayers could create whole graveyards in memory of players pass or deleted characters.

Jeremy, please get the game codes site fixed before you add these! As it stands now (and has always been), you can not change the quantity of an item ordered to anything other than "1." Therefore, you have to process separate orders for a second like item, a third, etc. However, once you order your second like item, the codes site blocks further orders for the next 30 days. Not an ideal situation for you guys on the revenue generating side of things, nor for us on the "providing" revenue side- it's frustrating.
It seems from afar that whoever you contracted to run the site gets paid by the transaction, thus this major inconvenience/ impediment.
As for "freebies" vice charges, I'm not opposed to either. Anything "free" must be accross the boards in all markets. If you guys need to feed EA with revenue, I'll help Thanks for the items.

If they can't change the UOCodes site to allow more than quantity 1 purchase... then set it up so we can select buy 1 set of tokens (6 tokens per set or whatever)... buy 6 sets of tokens (1 package of six sets of tokens so one in the drop down), 10 or 12 sets of tokens... etc...
I see your logic, and agree 100%. While one code emailed to each active account address would be nice, I'm not holding my breath.
As for a box on the shelves, I don't care if they (the boxes) added any new features or not. It would be nice just to see a box out there to even attempt to snag new players between expansions.
All in all, I'm looking forward to the new items. I can't wait to finally get a bookshelf with books in it, and that hitching post. I've already got a rubble fallen log (both matching halves of it), but another one would be nice to have too. Maybe I'll get enough so I can put the 4 of them around my fire pit.
Magic - I don't think anyone answered you - the special housing tiles adding after ML are available through the 9th anny box. That gets you the crystal and shadow tiles. You can still find the box with the code, but it's hard sometimes. I see them on ebay (new) for about $30, but I was able to get one at my local EBGAMES store for the retail price of $20 (I had to call ahead and they rummaged in the back store room and found 2 unsold copies).
Yep...I got my 9th Anniversary copy from Amazon (I think!) for about $20, which was a decent buy seeing as how I needed the new account to return to the game. Plus the tile sets came along with it.
I hope we get a box soon. There is just something fun about getting the box that adds to the excitement.

Would be nice if they could either offer the "9th Anniversary Code" for some price just to unlock the housing tiles if that's all it does any more... if you already have an active account, or just unlock the housing tiles with ML...

Agreed. I haven't found the 9th Anni boxes that I need to upgrade a couple of my accounts that don't have the shadow tiles. I am sure I could find some on ebay but I am just not an ebay fan. I would much rather get them from a normal game shop, which I clearly haven't had any luck with.
I might buy a code that let me have access to the tiles if they offered it on the codes site. Depending on the price of course. Otherwise, there are other options for those that look for them.

None of us should have to pay 20, let alone 30 dollars for a two year old box. I swear this was briefly touched upon within the past month or two (maybe at a town hall) and Jeremy said it was being looked into.

I have to say that I'm giddy over filled book cases. I've wanted them for so long. I wish this wasn't the delivery method for them, but I'll take them how I can get them.

From the translations of the Japanese site a couple weeks ago, I think the BOD covers were like 25 or 40 charges (covers) or something... not rechargable...The bod book covers, will they be single charge or multiple charges, i have close to 14k bods and marking the books would be a great help

The official number is actually 30 charges. After you use the last charge it will disappear.
And she also blithely skates right past the issue of difference between 11th year collection and 11th ani Items with never so much as a backwards glance.

I understand it is for dollars, I am happy to make purchase on items. I have in the past.
But a bookcase is an item you keep more than one of in your house. There are whole libraries made by players. What a very nasty thought it is to have to make a purchase of a whole package for an item that would be a wonderful wanted and loved feature to carpentry.
Perhaps make it a purchasable recipe? There must be a feasible compromise.

I kept my mouth shut on this issue until now, because I do not consider myself a very item-focused player. However, I too like to add items to my house to give it a certain character. (I especially liked the idea of stonecrafters being able to craft gravestones, and those can be encarved.)

Yeah. Particulaly things like the bulk order covers -- rather than giving EVERYONE the ability to identify their bulk order books, you have to BUY a cover, and from what I recall, it's a limit of 30 of them, not rechargable.
The bookshelves, from a paying customer standpoint, is simply a let down, as in "Why do I have to purchase something seperately that a CRAFTER should be able to CRAFT for me?"
Yeah... if there was ever a doubt about them nickle and diming us to oblivion, it's beyond a shadow of a doubt now.

I am quite possibly one of the staunchest supporters of this game and its creators, but I have to say, this makes me very, very sad. I've been wanting filled bookcases since I decorated my first UO house, many-many years ago, and now it seems that the only way I'll ever be able to build the in-game library of my dreams is to purchase multiple item packs for real-world money, just to get one bookcase in each pack.

It's not yet clear that's the case... if they sell say 6 tokens for $9.99 for instance, you could have 5 book cases and a hitching post for $10 and be done...
We won't know until they release the pricing... There's only two or three items in the list that I may want... but I may want multiples of the two or three so we'll have to see how it shakes out.

Okay... and let's start charging every player $10 for every 6 items they want to craft. That way EA still gets their money, suddenly crafted items have REAL value to them, and then when you lose one to an EA bug, and they say, "Sorry, won't replace that," you can smile, nod, and move on about your business.
You've missed the entire point here.
They should not be charging for stuff that should be craftable, or actually helps make things easier on players, PARTICULARLY when our monthly subscription fees are supposed to -- in part -- continue to pay for LIVE development (such as it is).
Oh, I'm going to go out on a limb and say it'll be a set of tokens that you can choose your items with.
I don't care what they charge for it, charging for a bookshelf that shows books after YEARS of people simply asking for it to be put in the game is a way of saying, "We know you REALLY want it, so now, pay for it."
And the BOD covers...

Probably not, but on the other hand, playing a game that if not dying, is on life support, I don't disagree with an expanded item shop at all. Every little bit helps, and I dont mind paying 10 bucks for some extra pixle crack.
I do think it would be nice to give everyone a token or two freebee.

This is EXACTLY why I refused to purchase the 9th anniversary set. The majority of the items are craftable and should have been. It was the first anniversary set I didn't pre-order and still don't have.
While I will likely buy a set of the 11th tokens because I want the trees (although the willow tree is growable) and providing we have a choice of items to select, I absolutely won't put RL money out on limited use items. That is pure stupidity.
The bod book covers and armor engraving tool should be added to crafting menus with tools to recharge them. The headstone should have the ability to be crafted and engraved. Earrings added to tinkering. Lamp post, log and hitching post I am neutral on although all could have been added as new loot or stealables. The bookshelf (requested for YEARS like the metal dye tub) is an obvious craftable.
I do not mind purchasing some things with real money, but when it's items that the players should have a way of obtaining in game, forget it. And considering they just added new rubble as rewards for the Magincia quests, it can't be that hard to stick a hitching post in Doom.

I have to admit, even the Spring Collection, which I bought one of for museum purposes, really ticked me off, because while MOST of the items were at least new artwork, at least 2 (if not 3) were simply rehues, and that just sort of makes me sad.
Right, and that's exactly my question in all of this. Why in the world is something that is utilitarian, and that would make the game better for many people playing, limited use and sold only via some silly collection? I mean, one could argue that BOD books should have been dyable in the first place, but bypassing that argument, wow, it's pretty low to sell a limited-use cover in hopes of adding more money into UO's limited coffers.
Honestly, the hitching post should be a craftable, or a "gold sink" much like the vendors and barkeeps. Heck, it could cost 50k to buy one, and then charge you the same (or even a premium) gold to use it as a stablehand (say bump it up to 100g to stable a pet there).
Instead, we get a convoluted solution.
Yeah... the bookshelf still irks me. And will. For a long time.

I don't mind "Buying Tokens" if they are priced in a way I can accept, and I'll use one for a Hitching Post... I don't see this as something that "Should be craftable"... it's something completely new... replacing a stablemaster in your home... If you never want to pay real money for the tokens, and don't buy a token for gold from someone who bought them on UOCodes, you are no worse off in game except that you recall to the stables to get your pets and turn them in... as you do now... not game changing...
I wouldn't use them for Armor Engraving tools... seems silly to me that Armor Engraving tools are here when every other engraving tool is makable in game so I won't have engraved armor... same with BoD Gift Wrapping Papers... There's too many Dying Tubs to believe these BoD Wraps are reasonable.
