Can a Dev possibly give a time frame?
Got a character stuck on a shard I don't play.....
Got a character stuck on a shard I don't play.....
Can we not turn this topic into another Anti Transfer thread? As far as I care they'll never be back. I've never felt that its a good idea to let characters be swapped from shard to shard, at least as long as they can bring items. If your character was stripped naked and all items deleted, then I would say character transfers were a good idea. As it is now, its too easy to make money using character transfers, by either getting shard-unique rares and selling them on your home shard, or by mass duping items.
Ok fine. They'll be back whenever the devs figure out how to fix the duping bug with them. Can we not turn this topic into another Anti Transfer thread?
Im asking when they will be back, not whether they should exist or not....
Nope sorryOff topic and I don't mean to hijack the thread!
Deimos, did you play on Napavalley, then move to Catskills?
Short answer: Because there is no dupe involving character transfers. It's a rumor and nothing more. Anybody who says any different must know a dupe exists in order to claim the transfer server is down because of it, and thus must know how the dupe is done in order to know that it exists in the first place. And we all know that people who know how to dupe never say anything about it, so therefore all claims of an existing dupe with character transfers are about as credible as George Bush as our president. Here is a question from a non duper......hehe If you can dupe something on one shard, then why couldent you dupe it on any or all shards? What does charater transfer have to do with duping? And if it is shard specific, then why not just stop transfers FROM the affected shard until it is fixed?
Because the dupe results in a single character existing on both the "from" and "to" shards at the same time. The character and all its contents are transfered to the destination without being deleted on the departure shard. Here is a question from a non duper......hehe If you can dupe something on one shard, then why couldent you dupe it on any or all shards? A few days before they shut off xsharding, there was a vendor on Atlantic with every high-end piece of rubble you could imagine 50 mil +, mixed in with very rare event items, and multiple of every high end runic. The vendor itself was actually wearing a "Shroud of Tal'keesh", they gave away what about 13ish of those on Napa a while ago ... and that vendor was wearing one. And there was another player character, on the very same screen, wearing another Shroud of Tal'keesh, what are the odds those are both legit?Short answer: Because there is no dupe involving character transfers. hehehe QFT...are about as credible as George Bush as our president.
Hopefully they are down because of the dupe that is going on.
I also hope that they track down the dupers and the ones that are supplying them with the items they are duping.
Finally voice of reason.A few days before they shut off xsharding, there was a vendor on Atlantic with every high-end piece of rubble you could imagine 50 mil +, mixed in with very rare event items, and multiple of every high end runic. The vendor itself was actually wearing a "Shroud of Tal'keesh", they gave away what about 13ish of those on Napa a while ago ... and that vendor was wearing one. And now that they shut off xsharding, that vendor is suddenly gone. You would think that a legitimate vendor with over a bil worth of items for sale would still have some stuff left still to sell? It seems some dupe seller thinks that they had better not make themselves so obvious now that they know EA is sniffing into these things?
The fact that high end rubble was mixed in to the event rares and unlimited high end runics seems to indicate that this is a new dupe, because rubble didn't exist during the last huge dupe where EA banned over 400 accounts.
This has all been enough for people to make an educated guess that duping has been going on. Other factors, such as barbed runic kits being spammed for sale $1.50 each ... thats what like 30% of what what it was worth two months ago ... 150 barbed runic kits being offered for sale on just 2 vendors on atlantic right now, and the vine cord sandals that were deleted by EA a few weeks ago, but you say there's no evidence of duping? Now that xshard transfers have been shut off with no eta of being turned back on seems to highly confirm that educated guess.
The good thing is it seems the devs at EA aren't sticking their heads in the sand saying "what dupe? there's no evidence of a dupe".
