I haven't posted here in MONTHS. This is due to the fact that I tried WoW for this first time back in June and discovered why 11 Million people like it so much. Very fun, easy to learn, and addictive as heck. WoW is not really as much as a grind as people claim.

I have always enjoyed Ultima and UO (for about 3 years with UO) but I am finding that whenever I log into UO to "check on things", nothing has appeared to have changed. (i.e. the KR client is still blurry, moongate to Cove in Luna Bank, burning effigy of traitors in Luna, etc)

I own a prime plot of Luna property on Origin, the one south of the moongate, but haven't run vendors since I stopped playing. The two accounts I own are automatically billed to my checking, but I am starting to get the feeling it is a waste if I don't play...

I guess what I am trying to determine is has anything "good" happened since June and is there anything "good" about to happen that I should know about? This would help me decide what I should do.

Please don't ask for my stuff or tell me to get lost since I am not playing UO at the moment. I can affoard these accounts but I also don't like being wasteful. Thanks.

I stay with Rp and storylines which allows me to do anything in the game. Yes not much has changed but I still enjoy the people im with. I wish I lived in Japan because they have a much better Ultima Online then we do.

Do what almost all do in these days,
close all extra accounts and reopen the last acc every 2,5 month for 30 day´s

(btw, mythic genius himself said that if player are not satisfacted they should close acc´ts, that would be the the best signal for them)
i wonder how many signal mythic need??

Everyone's definition of good differs. The new dev team has definitely had some stumbles keeping up a "heartbeat" of visible updates this year.

I don't want to take on the role of salesman, but it does seem from your post that even though you're looking away, you're looking for a reason to stay. We're close to a publish (soon, shortly, any week now) and assuming it doesn't end up crashing and burning in testing, waiting to poke around and find out what's inside is always fun.

Do you think it makes any difference to Jeremy whether she is the community rep for UO versus being the community rep for WAR or the community rep for DAOC?

No, it doesn't. She doesn't work for Ultima Online. She works in the gaming industry. When someone at EA tells her to go work on something else, she will. If someone hires her for another game, she'll go.

She isn't tied to UO. No one is tied to UO. As far as I can tell, they don't even play UO. It is amazingly clear however that they play other games.
After sitting down for a chat with Jeremy at the San Diego Town Hall meeting and listening in on an in-person interview she did with one of our reporters that night, I'd have to wholeheartedly disagree with your statements, MoonglowMerchant... I think it makes a huge difference to her that she's working on Ultima Online and she most certainly does play the game.

I have 3 months left on my last 6 month renewal. If the SA expansion is not released soon I intend to either quit or take a major break from this game. Furthermore, if the SA client is released and is as big a mess as KR has been I will definately end my 7 plus years of UO experience.

I love this game, at least what is used to be, but I just can't wait any more. 2plus years of waiting is enough.

Devs, put up a retro shard and a lot of old timers will return.

PvE???

WTH is that?

No one in UO PvE's. We PvP, We PvM.

We don't PvE.

I agree with what others had said in just waiting...taking a break for a while. Keep paying if you think you'll come back.

I haven't played WoW but in my reading and research, most people play WoW cause they're friends do. Hence, a sort of herd mentality. Additionally, it's quest based to my understanding and you can run any google search for Horde or Alliance leveling guide. Additionally there are classes that can solo efficiently. There are other games that I like better than WoW. WoW is too cartoonish for my liking.

Hopefully you'll find something on your own to keep you in UO, I don't think anyone can do it for you.

Thanks to all for the ideas. If there is one thing I like about UO, its the kind community. As far as Seige is concerned, I never played prior to AOS so I guess I don't have an appreciation for the Seige rule set. A previous poster said they were trying to sell their Luna house on Atlantic...but I thought everyone could place a house on Seige and also another shard, correct?

There have been some recent improvements to WoW. They just released a patch which addressed many balance issues and prepared the player base for the Wrath of the Lich King release due in November. I thought it interesting that there were people in WoW crying and threatening to quit because they couldn't or wouldn't adapt to the new rules. Sounded familiar. I really welcome change so no problem here.

As far as banning in WoW, there have been MASS bans since the beginning of the year for those using AFK scipts to gain honor points in battlegrounds (PvP). Blizzard somehow knows people are cheating and takes action, a move I highly respect. There is new content (sometimes fluff) every month in WoW as far as I've seen.

I don't necessarily NEED UO to have more new content, I just want better graphics and more purposeful world(s). I liked a reason to be in Cove, NuJehlom and other places. In general, the legacy dungeons, Malas dungeons, etc. are a little droll to me, just hard monsters in them.

But again, I have a hard time playing a game that doesn't have above average graphics (2d). There is a balance between content and graphics that UO needs to find in order to obtain more public attention. Forget about balance for a while, just provide beautiful worlds to adventure in and people will come. And by adventure, I don't mean just wander aimlessly, drooling at pixel crack. I mean create quests that are similar to the Peerless dungeons. It sounds like SA will offer this.

Oh that tasty carrot on the end of the stick...how I want you.

Keep your stuff...take a break if you need to...and then if you come back later and STILL are not sure, then maybe it is time to go. I know so many folks who gave everything away or sold it all, just to return to the game (only they had nothing and had to start all over)
My son plays WoW and he has topped out and now I pay for an account that he is totally bored with. I logged in once or twice and didn't care for it myself but that's just me. I am a diehard UO fan (even though the customer service has gone down the toilet) I still love the game and have played for 10 years. DON'T GET RID OF YOUR THINGS UNTIL YOU ARE SURE!! hehe sorry for the caps but it would be sad to do that and then decide you really should have stayed. Good luck whatever you decide.
