- Not the first (but he should be the first second generation as a civilian). I believe last night, when they were suiting up and showing his super cool 2nd generation Richard Garriott patch, they said this is the first time that two second generation spacemen will meet (I think a Russian cosmonaut already at the ISS is the other & I don't think he was the first of the 2nd generation-ers... but I'm not positive about that).

Sergei Volkov is the first second-generation space traveller. Sergei is the son of Russian cosmonaut Aleksandr Volkov. Garriott will be the second.

There was an earlier instance of a blood relative following another into space, but that was a case of twin brothers, Scott and Mark Kelly, so the same generation.

Here is the message he sent that I mentioned last night. It is from a Tabula Rasa forum. Then towards the end of that post there are two potentials mentioned in posts 51 & 52:- I tried to mess with it a bit last night, but I didn't get too far. Maybe because I am not familiar enough with Tabula Rasa's hieroglyphic Logos symbols; but I definitely smiled when I noticed him sharing the message.

(I just went to check my links and now I have to sign up in order to see them again. Maybe someone can host the picture, or at least make sure the links work for me? I'm not in the mood to sign up for another forum right now )

Old news! I found planet X in the 80's! It's located at 9,9,9. Go look for yourself if you don't believe me. Watch the landing tho it can get bumpy

_ahn? I smiled thinking maybe it's a k (not a huge Star Trek fan, but I can picture Will Shatner yelling his name), but I'm not really sure what the first rune is and I might have a few of the other 3 wrong too.

(EA is notorious for keeping their Intellectual Property. Think of Golem and the ring, heh. From what I was told a few years ago regarding the attempted purchase of another retired EA MMO, it would take several times what it costs for a civilian to go to space; & even with a few hundred million they still might refuse to sell UO. Sorry, but I'm just going on what I know about EA and their IPs; that was before Riccitiello, but I doubt things have changed too much regarding IPs - EA acquires them / they don't sell them.)

Yeah but one thing RG has that EA doesn't is vested interest. He hold the trademark on Lord British as a character...he could cause a stink and start demanding royalties every time someone logs in or walks past the Castle British in game

interesting thing, at least for Germans: RG's space adventure made it on one of the most read online news platforms, "spiegel online"; and the article covers especially RG's relationship to uo. Even the Beta-Killing of Lord British was mentioned. For Germans reading stratics, this is the link:

No, no he can't. They already handled all of the royalty issues with Lord British as he left the game -- which is why we never got a Lord British Christmas statue, and why when they had Lord British leave Sosaria forever, they got his permission to use the character in-game before they did so.

All of the royalty issues of LB have been long ago solved.

I haven't read it all yet, but so far it looks like there is a U & O in each update I've seen
