UO Opening Chest?

A different thread got me to thinking about this. Does anyone remember the old Chest Opening when you started UO a LONG time ago? Does anyone know where I could find it? I used to have it saved but I've gone through too many computers since then and lost it. I would really love to have it again!

Why yes I do remember that lovely chest as well as the old version of Stones playing in the background. Oh how I miss it. I'm not sure where you can find the animation itself, or how to incorporate it within the game, but I do recall looking at it while using InsideUO.

I don't know why they ever did away with that log in screen , that was awesome and I sure do miss that (brings back memories of the UO glory days).

I tried youtube and nada.
I still have the retail box of my UO CD. It comes with a cloth britannia maps and a UO symbol chestpin. I installed it on my other PC and see the opening chest but as soon as I run the update its gone.....

It will be super if DEV gives up an option for the opening animation for each expansion and the opening chest as one of the selections.

Yes he has it but you cant play UO with that client. I had the opening chest just now but it will be gone the second you run the client update.

I don't have my T2A CD any more ... and would love to have that animation as the leadin to UO! Damn ... I hate it when I purge my s'ware collection! Invariably I need/want something I tossed a week ago!

You could install the original disk in a different directory. Then use a movie program to make a movie your screen. As soon as you update, it will be gone.

If there is a free trial of camtasia, it is easy to set up and make a movie of a screen, But, it wont have the sound.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing... you'd think that we'd not have fond memories of that splash screen, given that most of the time we saw it, it was after a crash.

Yes...I still have the cloth map, chest pin, and my Beta CD.

I loved when UO first came out, too, just like everyone else.

I don't miss some of the things, but I did love the opening chest...the newness of it all.

I've always loved computer games (and Board Games before that).

But UO is still the best, in all of it's iterations, good and bad...and mainly because of the depth, and the people.

And that dang Chest Opening animation!!

Dont know how to extract it, but with a capture tool, like "Fraps" you migth be able, to record the screen.

If anyone from EA knows how to get the chest opening in an animation, it looks like there are quite a few of us who would love to have it!

Those were fun times, I believe there were just 3 American shards when the game first came out. Still have my original 2 or 3 discs for the game plus the clothes and pins. I'm not sure if I still have the original boxs stored away anymore. The opening chest animation was always alot of fun, kinda gotch ya going to play the game. I seem to remember though that if the game was laggy or the shard was pretty full that you kinda looked at that chest for awhile, before you could get into the game. I could be wronge on that, but kinda brought back one of the memories I had during that time. Perhaps this thread will get noticed and they will give players an option on how they would like to have the intro for the game when they play it.

- I always enjoyed the stock sound effect of the chest opening; it brought me the feeling that I was truly opening a chest filled with treasures, each time I logged in to play UO. I can still hear that creaking in my head, heh.

I used the chest opening animation in one of my flash movies a while back. Unfortunately I am not allowed to post a link to the movie because of it's contents but it is really easy to accurately rebuild the opening animation in flash.
