On a side note introduce your self please.

Well since you asked.

I'm a Libra who enjoys long walks around champ spawn areas (especially ones by the beach) My wife and I settled in a cozy house with a white picket fence at the top of Destard mountain. We've lived there for several years and have been thinking about finally finishing that 4th floor and decorating our guest house that we keep open for any weary travelers.

When I first started on Siege I spent most of time convincing the local wildlife that I was their friend, then after they finally accepted me I would slaughter them and skin their hides. My wife, like most of the shard, is invisible, rarely ever will you catch a glimpse of her as she walks amongst you.

Lately I have been working on finishing my crafter, adding the skills of poisoning and alchemy to compliment his already completed mining, tailoring, smithing and arms lore.

Feel free to come visit us any time :twak:

You forgot to add that you have a house near Destard and a neighbor who leaves bags everywhere.

Because this will end up with people who actually do want to move to the shard and play it full time, that won't be able to find a spot for housing...simple enough...la
You don't really believe that do you?

Seriously?

How many open housing spots do you think there are now?

There are thousands.

Anyone who wants to place on Siege can drop an 18 by 18 instantly.

If people actually paid for an extra house on Siege, I'm inclined to believe they would use it.

I'd hang my hat on that instead of some magical immigration that isn't occuring and won't occur without some additional changes (like a second house).

Let me summarize:

Your position is "We can't allow new people to have houses on Siege because that won't leave any room for new people".

Ya, that doesn't make sense does it.

Guess you don't remember when Siege Luna housing opened up? How many people who didn't even play the shard came in and swooped up a number of the good spots...what did they do? They then tried to sell them to the active players. No thanks, if you really want a second house for a different shard, feel free to go buy another account.

Stop trying to trammify Siege...la

Rico, you can't judge by that. The same thing happened on Europa, an influx of people from US shards grabbed spots taking advantage of time differences.

Yes I can.

You can bet, the day they initiate that patch, there will be hundreds of people who will come, drop a house...and leave. They'll say they have a house on Siege, but won't play the shard. So when other players actually do show up, the housing spots will be closed, they won't be willing to play the shard if they can't have a house, and not bother playing the shard.

Not too hard to follow...la

If it cost 9.99 to get an extra house that is two million gold on Siege.

What do you think my chances are today of placing a house on Siege and selling it for two million gold? Remember, it has to be an open spot so gate houses, Luna houses, etc....those spots are currently filled.

I'll answer it for you. There is very little chance to place a new house on Siege today and sell it for two mil.

So, again, why would anyone spend 9.99 or two mil to place a house here that they would have to sell for less?

Answer, they wouldn't.

Don't even think about Luna. Those spots are full and that was open to anyone with the gold to place.

If there was a charge for a second house, most people wouldn't even place it on Siege. The few that did wouldn't be doing it for a profit, they would be doing it so they could play here.

That would be a good thing IMO.

If hundreds dropped a house on day one, there would still be thousands of spots left.

Where are they going to get the gold to drop those houses anyway? You know, since they don't play on Siege.

They are going to get it from a broker? So, they are going to pay broker's fees to get gold plus the 9.99 to get the extra house slot, then they are going to put that house down on Siege and never play here again even though the house will be pretty much worthless?

Cmon. You're smarter than that.

You've never played on a new shard have you? Newbs can amass enough gold to place a small house within a few hours. All it takes is a week notice that people would get (at least) and they will have enough gold to place a small (at least) within minutes of the new patch being installed...la

All they need is 15 days notice. That's plenty of time for a newb on siege to make hundreds of thousands in gold. All they need is a dagger and access to a loom and spinning wheel and 15 days to be allowed to place the house.

Siege isn't a new shard. All the primo spots are taken.

What does it cost to place a small house on Siege? 70k?

So, you are telling me that people are going to make characters on Siege, farm gold for a week to get 70k, then place a small house?

Why in the world would they do that and then not play on Siege? That house will be worthless because there are sooooo many open spots.

It just doesn't make sense that someone would pay 10 bucks to place a house on Siege, then farm up the gold to buy the house, and then not play.

The whole purpose of paying the 10 bucks and placing the house would be to play....otherwise it would be a complete waste of time since unlike a new shard, the house won't be in a prime location.

Feel free to argue with me but your argument in this case doesn't make a lot of sense.

:)

Well I think things like attacking with pets while hidden needs to be fixed. But I'd also like a small 1-2 second delay between hiding/smokebombing and going into stealth.

I'd like to know two things:

1. Do you want more players on Siege?

2. What is your plan to accomplish it?

I'll answer both first.

Yes, I want more players.

To get more players, I would make significant changes to ROT. I would make it possible to have a house on a regular shard and one on Siege.

Now, there are other changes I would make to help UO in general, but those are the two Siege needs most IMO.
