I saw this poll on one Europa PvP forum, and there opinion was pretty clear, Balanced mod should be removed (Like 85 % wanted it to be removed).

So I decided to make a poll here to see if it sticks in larger scale also.

if they remove it then they should remove UBW also since archers don't have the ability to use the other weapons like a swordsman or macer.


it's not the mod that kills people it's the player :p

If it didn't have Balanced on it. Ninja archers using stars/darts would be pointless.

It does kinda suck that someone can be hitting you for mad damage, and chug at the same time... but so can any other dexer.

And besides, finding a good balanced bow to use in PvP or even PvM is either extremely time consuming getting runics yourself, or the higher end bows are hella expensive.

Ninja's with the appropriate skill level do not need an empty hand (balanced bow) to throw stars ....

Also, archer's can't use parry, so they already have a weak point. Every other template can chug without disarming, or with only disarming a shield ... so why not allow archers to do so as well? The other option would be to remove the free-hand requirement ...

any other dexxer with a one handed weapon you mean. balanced needs removed from game entirely or added to all 2 handed weapons. thats called balance. either that or put a tactics requirement of say 90 to get the benifit of the balanced mod.

Id have to agree with last post... either remove or add to all weapons. I would go so far as to add it to one handed weapons and/or shields as well. Make it all or nothing. Sure archers cant wear a shield, but I think the whole range attack more then makes up for any difference there.

since you only hold bows with one hand they should be a one handed wep anyway.
crossbows and heavy crossbows should be 2 handed and should give parry bonus..

i say leave it.. you can complain about other things that are more important
like the fact that you can tell a dragon to attack while remaining hidden..

Bows are two handed because you need a hand to hold it and to pull the string.

I'm 120 ninja and I can't throw stars holding a 2 handed weapon.
But honestly game mechanics aside a normal bow takes 2 hands to shoot (unless you use a foot) some crossbows can be shot one handed.

I have to agree that I would REALLY like a balanced axe to use ... or even better, why the HELL is a hatchet a 2 handed weapon?!?! WTF I have NEVER seen someone wield a hatchet with two hands ....

I agree that the Balance property should be possible with two handed weapons as well as bows. I don't think the balance property should be removed from the bows though. There's been enough taking away as it is, although some of the things taken away I have agreed with. This is certainly not one of them, and I have never even played an archer... ever.

nah, they should put it on some 2 handed weaps and really small shields, mainly a buckler since mine straps to my forearm leaving my hand free.

I dont agree. Archers are at a complete loss as far as special move are concerned. If an archer could disarm with a bow then I might agree its a problem. But when my archer gets disarmed and I have no retribution Im going to run away.

(i have a full necro archer mindrot disables specials from warriors with less than 50 mana)

I was thinking about this the other day. Wouldn't it be cool if imbuing allowed you to put mods on items that normally don't get those mods? Like HCI on a shield, perhaps?

Hmmm... I may have actually said this before. Memory and old age are not compatible.

I blame it on a slow day at work. I've probably posted more today than I ever have.

I have to ask, because my game knowledge slips away a bit more each day. Is there a ranged way for you to be getting disarmed? Because if you're an archer, you shouldn't be anywhere near the melee fighter to get disarmed. And if you're getting disarmed by someone stealthed, then a melee fighter has teh same problem, so your problem is moot.

Your logic seems to be lacking today.

You have to stop to do a mortal/conc/ai, when you stop you can be hit.

Too many people speedhack to "never get hit".

Bushido dexers have counterattack, and they can toggle disarm.

Your reading comprehension seems to be lacking today. I started my entire post by saying my ingame knowledge was lacking. I know next to nothing about bushido. And I have never played an archer (I already stated earlier), so I didn't know about having to stop to do a special. Which is precisely why I asked the question.

After thinking about this even more, I'll say this. Archers get the benefit of range, while the dexxers have the option of the benefit of disarm. I see this as balanced. Speedhacking should be fixed, but the fact that it's there shouldn't warrant two handed weapons from having the balance mod.

Actually, unless you are using very specific bows and wanting to deal with diminished damage, archers have to stop to shoot AT ALL! Otherwise, you have to use a special move (moving shot) to have the benefit of range and movement all at once.

Or, here is a crazy Idea but! Require Alchemy to get the benefits from chugging pots, problem solved.


Must have GM alchemy to chug any type of potion. Sure people could still have balanced bows but they would have to give up another skill to be able to to chug.


If not that, then make it so it takes more pots to cure (like it use to be before they "fixed" it) and you can fail to use a heal pot without Alchemy. (with a shorter delay between uses if you fail, so you don't have to wait the time that it would take if you did chug it.

I say no but instead let dexxers with bucklers equipped chug pots. And Realistically how many hands does it take to hold not fire a bow?

Yea and don't forget the handful that still use Night Sight pots....and Explosion Pots, you don't chug those....

It shouldn't be removed. It is extremely hard to get on a really good bow. The only options for an archer to use a potion are to have a balanced bow, or the disarm leaving you completely open to melee attack and unable to do any damage during the process.

are you kidding me? the bow is just a tool...without an arrow its mostly useless. btw...most crossbows require TWO HANDS just to hold it silly.

To hold and aim not just to hold onto, so no they don't require 2 hands just to hold...that or your just don't have a firm enough grip to hold it at your side with one hand....

Then you have never held an old heavy crossbow before. You have obviously never shot an oldschool crossbow before. Neither are by any means a one handed weapon. I could also hold a two handed sword in one hand too...but as a weapon it becomes useless. You dont see me saying I should be able to chug with those do you?

I still want an explaination of why hatchets are 2 handed? So you can argue that 2 handed swords and crossbows require 2 hands to be useful ... but why on earth would you use two hands on a hatchet? In fact ... how would you FIT two hands on a hatchet and still be able to swing it effectively ... ?

Maybe give the Parry skill a new special?

Shield Reposite. A chance to reflect the arrow back at the attacker?

Instead of just being able to parry and absorb the damage from an arrow, perhaps allow a special shield move to reflect the arrow?

It'd also be nice to see a shield stun move.

I know that idea might get flamed for then overpowering a parry template...but when you think about it, shields weren't just used to block attackers, but were used as an offensive weapon too.

Maybe make it to where the bigger the shield the more mana it uses since it's 'heavier' and bulkier.

I agree with the hatchet being 2handed... kinda lame. I think of a little camp hatchet... dunno how the crap you'd get two hands on that like what was said earlier... kinda difficult =0

Actually poles are quite usefull. They are great to hang flags on, hold tents up, or string power lines along.

Have you even read where I said Hold not aim and shoot. It would be fine if they can't do any other action for the split second that the pot chugging occurs. That would make it no different than my Sammy using a one handed mace chugging pots.

IMO,

1. Balanced mod should be removed or balanced mod should be added to melee 2-handed weapons. Also pot effectiveness should be reduced. So many people especially dexers are using chugging script/3rd party program now.

2. Archers complaining about UBWS are comparing apples to oranges. You say you cant get all those special move, melee dexers cant get ANY RANGE AT ALL. Archers at lease has a selection of specials that they can use anytime even at melee range (ranging from 0 to 10 tiles) while melee only has all the specials at zero tile range. People hacks nowdays and we all see archers dancing around melee while shooting at them and melee with all their specials cannot do anything about it another thing why there are more archers then meleers.

3. Pure mages are way underpowered atm, adding balanced spellbooks will only improve template balance.

Ok if we removed balanced bows , i say we also remove mage weapons with zero penalty, UBWS every and all, make disarm from opponents nil and void to archers.

Mounted and chasing a opponent a archer can't shoot unless using a bow with moving shot, can we maybe get a mid step shot put it ? :gun:

Or hey let remove all spell bound or potion bound healing , and everyone has to use bandies ?????????????????/:next:

Ummm %85 of Stratics posters....... which is prolly %1-%5 of the playerbase.
