Protection Spell Bugged?

Yesterday I cast Protection on Connor so he could use Spirit Speak and other Necro spells without being disrupted. I was fighting Miasma and would get poisoned, so would then cast Cleanse by Fire, after which I would lose targeting and had to double click my target again to resume fighting.

This morning I went to Despise to train up Tactics, started fighting a Titan and cast Spirit Speak to heal, and had it disrupted several times.

There's obviously something wrong with Protection and it needs to be looked at as it shouldn't be working like this. Has anyone else run into the same thing?

Edit- After recasting Protection to remove then replace it it's still being disrupted.

That would answer the Spirit Speak issue, but there's still the issue of losing targeting.

I'm 100% sure Protection should not affect Spirit Speak, because it is a SKILL, no a SPELL.

Ugh, the pancake about that is, it behaves just like a spell. You are frozen and have a "cast time". However, I look at it like this: Spirit Speak is a Necro's Meditation. When you actively meditate, you must be still and not get hit for it to work. SS is the same.

On the target loss: were you in war mode or just defense attack? I have also had alot of issues recently (last week or so?) with losing target and haven't yet nailed down what is causing it.

Nothing wrong with protection......It's working perfectly

1) Protection doesn't effect skills.... so you will still be interupted using spirit speak. On a side note though spirit speak allow you to simply hold down the macro you set for it and it will go off the 1st time your not interupted..

2) Cleanse by fire is what's causing you to lose your targetting. It's an old bug. Unfortunately it only works when you cast the spell on yourself... I've tried spamming another dexxer attacking me with it to no avial lolol..... was worth a try.

I only lose targeting when using Protection. When not using it, I can cure all day long and not lose targeting once. That's not what I'd call "working perfectly".

I've never used protection on a warrior, though I had thought about it, and I experience that losing target all the time, while successfully curing when I am in war mode.

I've also had an issue with hit spells and war mode. Normall when you kill something, you'll auto-target the next mob flagged on you. If I land a successful hit spell on on target, then kill it, it won't auto-target the next mob unless that mob had enough time to 'retarget' me. I believe that only happans in war mode...

I understand that. The point was that it didn't cause that until I'd cast Protection on this character.

The loss of targeting has nothing to do with protection. It happens when your character takes damage from something (that isnt a PC or NPC). Fire traps in doom/champ spawns cause it to happen to me quite often.
I do not run protection on any of my characters.

The cleanse by fire targetting bug has been around for ages, and is very annoying, it has always been my belief that since the spell damages u by cleansing (never noticed any myself but is in spell description and with high karma dmg is supposed to be small to non existant) it is this dmg which causes the targeting issues. whish they would fix that

That is exactly it. You take damage from a different source, thus your target changes.

Not a bug, but definately annoying.

The targeting issue didn't start happening until AFTER I'd cast Protection. I'd NEVER had a problem with losing targeting from anything before.

I've been playing a Paladin since AoS came out and it has always lost target when you cast cleanse by fire on yourself.
