Movement based skills?

Are any skills still based on movement? I know back in the days of 8x8 the only way to train magery was to be constantly moving. Is this still true? I know the 8x8 code was removed, but what about movement? Do any skills still require constant movement for gains? If so which ones?

They removed the anti-macro code so you can gm any skill just sitting in your house.

doesn't stealth still require constant movement to gain? i remember a couple years ago you could train stealth all way to GM without moving an inch. but now i think you have to constantly be moving. i always set up stealth "escalators" in my house when it's time to train.

Yes, but that doesnt have anything to do with the anti-macro code.

In order to gain stealth you have to walk while being hidden. The skill level determens how far you have to walk before you attempt to stealth again.

i didn't think the op was asking about the anti macro code... seemed to me he was only inquiring about skills requiring movement.

black sun - you are correct that 8x8 is gone. i've trained magery all way to 120 standing in the same spot in my house casting spells over and over (and over and over...). there is a GGS gain that you get, asides from that, gains get harder the higher your skill level gets. but you can train most standing perfectly still.

Ah, yes.

Stealth and Focus are the only skills I can think of that you can gain by moveing. In order to gain in focus by moveing you have to be overweight (to lose stamina).

i never know that! thanks :) i know focus tends to raise pretty fast as you go about your business, but i never knew it was based on how much you weighed and movement. cool.

I just reached legendary stealthing without moving at all. You can hide, then hit stealth and gain all the way up to 120 if you build a decent macro and wear the right gear.

Focus isn't really based on weight. The point that poster was making, I believe, is that by being overweight and losing stam (which you do when overweight) is a fast way to gain focus because you will constantly be losing and then gaining stam, this triggering the focus.

What is the cool down timer on the stealth skill? The good thing about moveing while training is that it is no timer. You can run between the skill checks and potentialy gain every 3-4 seconds. You should have a good routine on the running after a couple of hundred tries ;)

If you do it by using the button to stealth there is like a 15 second timer between uses. Too slow. Just stealth around. I found hundereds of idocs training stealth. Not to mention other things you come across and things you hear when you sneak up on other players and evesdrop on their conversations.

Actually the fastest method to train stealth is: hide, step, wait 5s, hide, step back, wait 5s...

Booooring

You need rigth equipment (leather a., studded a., ringmail) to gain of course.

Yeah, there are definitely faster ways to do it. My point was just that its not required that you move to gain all the way up to 120.

All good info. I'd rather bank sit while I train skills rather than seclude myself on a boat anyway. That's how you find the good deals, Like the 6k arrows I got last week for 3 per arrow.
