I'm not very good at melee chars, and have one i started a while ago. She's an elf used for PvM and has these skills available to her (through soulstones.)

Anatomy 105.3
Parrying 100
Fencing 96.8
Bush 94.1
Healing 88.8
Chivalry 80.0
Magic Resist 100
Tactics 104.5
Swords 106.5

Most of these have at least 110 scrolls, 115s on parry, swords and fencing.

So my problem, whats the best combo of these? As I said I stink at making melee chars, but I figure i have the skills may as well use them.

Thanks in advance,
Oriana

LOL, hang in there your not too far off.

First thing to remember is your limited to 720 total skill points. This means you can't put everything on a single character. You need to pick one weapon skill per character.

Anatomy 105.3 - not a bad thing to have. (I would cap it at 100)
Parrying 100 - very good (push to 120 when you can afford or acquire scrolls)
Fencing 96.8 - pick one weapon skill.
Bush 94.1 - very good (push to 120 when you can afford or acquire scrolls)
Healing 88.8 - I like 100, some say 90 or 80 even
Chivalry 80.0 - should be fine
Magic Resist 100 - optional for pvm (I have it on my templates)
Tactics 104.5 - 90 to use both weapon specials DI bonus at 100
Swords 106.5 - pick one weapon skill.

I would stone one weapon skill and decide if I want resist or not.

Anatomy 100
Parrying 120
Bush 120
Chivalry 80.0
Magic Resist 100
Tactics 100
Swords 120

This is a 740 skill point total but it can easily be reached with an item or 2. You'll use chiv and confidence for healing or if you want to use band aids you can switch healing for resist.

Remember to soul stone any skills you take off. You can change things later or put those skills on a different character on the same account.

Very sound advice GFY!

thru the combination of bush, weapon skill, tact ant, healing ,and chiv you have a very versatile char, and imo is fun to play..... (btw i can take out para succubusses with this temp.)

i run a pretty similar temp on one of my samurai's

120 swords
120 bush
120 parry (110 actual skill 10 more w/ a good brace)
100 tact
100 anat
90 healing (i use enhanced bandy's which brings me to gm)
70 chiv (bumped to 82 w/ my brace)

i personally don't run mag resist ....for pvm w/ a low skill made tinker trap box, and a few orange petals to me isn't worth 100 skill pt's

if you look real hard you can find the right jewelry for any situation, i have used the same brace on this char forever.

bracelet
chiv + 12
parry +11
DCI +13
cold +12
poison +13

I was wondering why you would use healing and chiv with bush? Seems using chiv and bush would require alot of mana.

Use a sword with Mana Leech on it and mana won't be too much of an issue.

not sure about everyone else but i use bush ,and chiv on the same char .
i do occassionally run out of mana but i run enogh HCI in my suit as well as DCI so hitting isn't a problem..... nothing like going toe to toe w/ a balron or other baddie who is a caster and being mana drained ..no way to lightning strike.

because lightning strike gives you a chance for a critical hit(more dmg) based upon your bushido skill, momentum strike.. allows you to strike thru your first opponet and if you kill the first you get a bonus to dmg on the second target, evasion not as useful as it once was they added a timer between usage but still handy, and confidence healing.
and chiv for enemy of one, consecrate weapon, sacred journey.

chiv healing can be interupted... so i use mainly healing skill.. but if your not toe to toe it's a nice way to heal.

IF your not a 4/6 caster you can use a protection scroll to keep your chiv spells from being interrupted. Protection will alter your resists so you may have to use a reactive armor scroll as well.

I use healing skill as well. There's nothing better then standing next to a friend and cross healing each other. 2 second heals are really tough to beat, pvm or pvp!

Sorry for taking so long to answer everyone. Thank you all for your reply's.

Right now she has Fencing on her. sword and tact are soulstoned

I think my toughest decision is going to be to drop magic resist or not and sounds like Tact would be of more use than Resist. Healing I agree you GFY, my husband and I fight side by side a LOT and you just can't beat us a lot of the times when we get our rhythm and cross healing.

I guess then the decision....Sword or Fencing. Is there any advantage of with over the other? Better more available weapons and the sort?

Again thanks for the help guys.

It really doesn't matter all that much. For fencing, the leaf blade is the one to go with, for PvM anyway, because it's got the highest DPS. For swords I'd say have both an Ornate Axe for heavy hitting massive damage, and a good Twinkling Scimitar for the Whirlwind special. You really can't beat Whirlwind on a scimitar that has all 3 leeches on it, as it's hitting everything around you and leeching from each and every one of them. That's one of the reasons the Soul Seeker is so popular, although I prefer to craft one so it will have the DI on it.

Oh my Gooses!!! I swapped out fencing for sword on my newly redone warrior. Turned up and down a few things that were recommended here. WOW, I had a blast with her last night!!! Got her a Soulseeker and a shield with HCI and DCI and a semi decent Darkwood set. And I was soloing critters I never thought possible. I adore confidence, never really knew it did that with hit points, man what a life saver. I'll be working on finishing her skills and her suit, but wow thanks for opening my eyes to the melee world guys!!!

if you use Bushido you won't want to use a shield, it lowers your parry chance to 5%.
just thought you should know.... sounds like your char's really coming along niceley congrats!!!!

Most defenately drop that shield, it's nerfing your parry ability to death. Use your SoulSeeker, and carry potions. Make a couple of macros to drink a heal or cure as needed and you'll be good to go!
