WOW...11 years...hard to believe...I havent taken a shower or used the bathroom in 11 years.

I remember my first day playing UO..Many MANY moons ago..the open chest..the skills..the hunting...Everything..You have come a long way baby...

Tips my Goblet of Celebration in Honor of UO for the wonderful 11 years it has given me. The ups and downs..of life and in game. would not replace any of them for all the tea in china....

Heres to another 11 more years. We can do it!!...WOOOT

Wow, I wish they would bring that opening back, the chest opening, the music, and just wow, those memories...that feeling everytime that chest would open and you would just sit there listening and wait a few secs to click play, priceless!

That's always the pefect example that's given. I'll guarantee WoW or any other game doesn't have something so small as the "chest opening" affect them the way UO had it.Everyone that had the pleasure of seeing that, still remembers how it made them feel...

Loved it. I don't know what comes over devs to remove stuff like that. There is no reason to do so. Instead we got splash screens and had to delete files to get rid of that spam ...for...what expansion was that? Anyone remember those annoying splash screens, and there were umpteen posts about removing them. LOL.


Bring back the chest opening graphic thingy. And give us metal dye tubs. And stiggy a free castle. With nekids.

Don't worry about all the hyped new games out there. Don't try to be like them. Have a look what they have improved but bethink yourself of your own strong points, work them out and the next eleven years can come. You're unique!

Beta ended on September 23rd. While most Charter Edition players who pre-ordered and opted for overnight shipping didn't get their box until the 25th, the servers were up on September 24th with a few players who obtained the game early playing, so that is the official launch date.

I certainly remember the first day I played, which was mid November 1997. I also remember my now-ex-husband and step-son standing over my shoulder looking at this latest game I had found to play. We had played all the previous Ultimas and loved them. This seemed like something interesting and certainly more fun than the text-based MUDS my ex was playing.

They were both blown away at the graphics of something that was actually online. And they both went out and got their own accounts. I still have mine.

I also still have a notebook that I used to keep notes (I always did this when I played a game). On 11/29, I made a note of my magerry and tailoring skills (50 and 52 respectively). On 12/4, my magery was 52. I made lists of jerks to avoid. I made notes of friends, and kept a list of "special orders" on scrolls, etc.

Belated Happy Birthday UO.

Love this game. My sister bought it for me as a Christmas present in 1998. She had no clue it was an online game just a fantasy/Arthurian type game which she knows I am really into. Little did I know how hooked my husband and I would become. I created my account and after several hours naming my characters - yes it took me hours, had to have it just right - Morgan of Avalon was born. We started out on the Japanese shards, worked out better since hubby was in the Navy then. We used UO to keep in touch when he was in Japan and anywhere else he could log in. I can remember staying up really late into the wee morning hours to get him a house since he couldn't be online at that time. We have since moved to Pacific and Chesapeake shards. I found some of the best Arthurian role players on Pacific. I was in heaven

I still enjoy this game even as it changes. I continue to meet some wonderful people here.

Here is to another wonderful 11 plus years for UO.
