This Is Just Not Right

At 8:30am I logged in on my tamer, tamed a Gaman and gain 0.1 GGS. 11 hours later I consulted this website http://uo.stratics.com/content/basics/ggs.shtml
Another Stratics website:
http://www.tamingarchive.com/main/whattotame.php
suggests that at my current taming (106.9) level I needed to Tame any of these beasts in order to gain in taming:
-Bull
-Imp
-Strong Mongbat
-Giant Toad
-Savage Ridgeback
-Ridgeback
-Hellcat
-Frenzied Ostard
-Giant Ice Worm
-Gaman
-Drake
-Hellhound
-Frost Spider
-Leader Hell Hound
-Lava Lizard
My char has 310.0 total skill points and 106.9 real/effective Taming skill (I use no jewelry). According to the table, I should have another GGS gain in 7.8 hours after the first one. Allowing for the infamous RNG, I should have a second GGS at 5:00pm (8:30am + 7.8hrs ~5:00pm).
So here I am at 9:00pm, after taming and killing 27 Gaman and taming and killing 27 Bulls without one single increase in Taming. Still at 106.9 (GGS only)after 12 hours of 4.2 hours of GGS and 54 tames. It's just not right!

No wonder people cheat and take short-cuts for skill gain!

You have 106.9 taming and only 310 skill points total ... and you say you aren't trying to take a short cut?

I'd ditch gaman and just head for ridgebacks. Gaman never gave me decent gains on a tamer for some reason.

If you aren't getting gains when you expect to, move to other critters. But at your level it does get slow, so the best idea is to stop counting out exactly what you've tamed per gain and timing them :) Work the zoo turnins too for a change.

But there's no excuse for cheating with taming, especially at that level. Anyone who parks a bot for a chance at a couple of gains a day is crazy.

I tamed gamans between levels 85-95. I still tame them for my GGs now, and I'm at the same level you are (minus about 0.8). I get my gains despite wearing jewels that take me all the way to 120.

But I tend to wait about 24 hours for each one.

- :) so true.

Taming takes time (thank Lord British that something still takes more than a few hours).
+ GGS doesn't happen immediately; sometimes it will, but it is not a strict guaranteed gain on the very next attempt.

:)

by the way, tamingarchive is not official.
If you want to guarantee taming gains, then try something that has the taming difficulty around +/- 10 of your current taming skill; just like with any other skill under the new (many years old) GGS system...

Right. Mind the note on the Playguide:

Please note that these time periods are not to be used as an absolute rule, but instead as a general guide-as the saying goes, "your mileage may vary."

Huh? Either I misperceive this I or you mean: Optimal Taming Difficulty = {your current Taming skill minus 25 points} then maybe +/- 10%. Anyway, you may also use a Skill Tutor Statuette to check if your in the optimal gaining range.

Yes! :)

I made legendary tamer taming cu sidhes and it was productive at the same time. If you are not an elf, it would be worth changing over so you can tame them. Nice to be able to collect bandies and gold of them and also spawn the rare colors. If you get to all paragon ones, people will usually help you to kill them, or you can do as i do and kill them along with air elementals and poison fields. Takes a while, but it's do-able.

You get to be productive while working for that gain. ;)

When I was GGsing my tamer up to 120, I found doubling the figure quoted was more accurate. So after approximately 15 hours you should get that GGS in my experience.
