Fair warning ... any normal person would have booted you the moment you started bobbing/spamming ... I was being quite tollerant and I had assumed you were looking for an exploit. So ... whatever it was you were attempting, you would not have been allowed to do for more then about 1 second under normal circumstanced

When it works it works faster than the length then. Too fast for being unfriended so I have heard. But, I guess someone with the finger on the button might be able to catch someone in time. Still a bit risky though. I wouldn't be foolish enough to do that myself. By the way, I would have given it back if it had worked. I was pretty sure it wouldn't this time but I wanted to try anyway. Was worth a shot for sure.
If its been there that long, then no. Only applies to ones placed on Wednesday night / Thursday morning in places they shouldn't have been able to. The ones that were problems were placed IN the guardzone.

No, your house is fine. THe only houses being dropped are those that were placed after the last publish came out in traditional no-place zones.I am a little confused...
I own a house @ the Tram Brit Moongate (8x8, have owned it for over a year...). Will this be dropped? I haven't been very active lately but this makes me VERY upset if this is what is to come. I lose my house which I have owned for so long?

Mainly around the farms north of Britain, and outskirts of towns (like right outside Moonglow).
The ones near the gates were from another time where a similar situation happened (players suddenly found themselves able to raise a plot right next to the moongate clearing).

D'Amavir, you are talking about making yourself more than a friend and you were making certain preparations and not picking up things
This exploit was fixed a long time back. Even if exploiters suceeded in a normal situation, I guarantee that they'll be banned.
The owner may lose stuff in secure chests, but won't lose the house. In a house for sale situation, people would normally remove all items.
However, it would be nice to have the date stamp visible on the house sign for the public to see (insteead of via the gump).

My large non-grandfathered house was placed in 1999 inside guardzone.
Will the removal only apply to newly placed houses, or every non-grandfathered house inside guard zone?
My house is no longer grandfathered cose I transfered it to my second account few years back.
Please I need an answer draconi, if I should take any action before monday.

Cool! Been wanting to ask someone that had a transferred grandfathered house:
Can you confirm the information tag shows modern instead of granfathered? Also, what does the date stamp say? I'd never transferred my grandfathered houses before and don't really know...
Also, even if Draconi replies, it might be a good idea to notify the devs via email. As someone informed me, to be doubly safe, you may also want to consider moving your stuff to another house/bank. Just a precaution.
I'm sure they will screw up and delete a few legitimate houses. That's just a small kink though.

Ya, I remember that bug. This one was a little different. I don't know all of the ends and outs since I never used it myself, but from what I have heard it caused a house to actually be demolishable by a friend. The scammer would then have someone on another account drop a house in its place. This was before a lot of the housing changes but I have heard that it pops up once in a while still. Not much benefit in it for the scammer these days except for those that just want to grief someone. And, I agree with you, a little information on the house sign available to the public would be much safer than friending strangers to your house. That suggestion is just ridiculous considering UO's history with major bugs being released and the scammers that use them to grief others. I am more than shocked that something like that came out of a developers mouth.....err, came from his fingertips I should say. Either way, its appaling that EA would suggest something like that and put their players at such a risk instead of just sucking it up and admitting that they refuse to take steps to curb this sort of situation in the future.
As for Aiilish, yes, I am thankful to her for allowing me to check on it. If this bug was still workable then I would hope that EA would fix it ASAP and not wait till the next publish to do so. It would have sucked had she/he friended someone the same way that did have a current bug in their repertoire and used that bug to grief her.

by the number of post's you have, you have prolly been playing for some time, since when are we allowed to place houses in towns ? comeon obviously it is/was a bug and you decided to take advantage of it.

of course, only true way for them to do it properly is to personally go and check the placement date in the house sign's one by one.

That's the thing. It's not part of the town anymore really, I thought they had just decided to remove guard zones out there. Eh, doesn't matter I'm probably just going to give my 18x18 away.
I really wish I could remember the account name for one of my old AoS accounts. I would help you out as I do feel bad for you. I still think you could have excercised much more caution - esp. since you must have known the GZ's were gone from the cities, as well - but I don't think you should lose out because of it.
I am curious, did the resize plot option work? It will demolish the 18x18, however only you would be able to place there for 1 hour.

if you have still that old UO folder (patched up only without fresh install between), you would find the account name below the desktop folder.

My grandfathered, transferred home in Fel Cove has no 'Built on' date. Its just blank. Do the new homes say improperly placed like mine?
edit: Also, its of classic design. Hopefully the fact that 15k people didnt visit it in 5 days will help them realize I didnt place it a few days ago.

I don't know if I'd put that much faith in them myself. If you got anything really valuable, I'd move it.
I have changed computers 2-3 times since AoS ... so ya, not possible. It was an account that was only active for a few months after AoS.
Think next time before you take advantage of an exploit/bug.
Its pretty simple really..if someone tried to cheat the system and placed a guard zone house few days ago then sorry but drop it b4 its droped for you....
