Sheilds are disarmable too, Urg.

I mean not only is this a big deal in pvp but now as a parry mage, I gotta worry about theifs disarm stealing my shield.

This sucks, I dont believe this was needed.

I mean I can understand someone knocking a weapon or book out of someones hands and stealing it, but taking my sheild? Its like fastened to my arm.

Just curious as to how those of you with trammel feel about this.

I'm still curious why Mages can use a shield bigger than a buckler. I mean with all the gestures they do while casting you'd think the shield would get in the way?

But seriously if a Sammy can loose his parry and weapon at the same time why can't a mage just loose the parry.

Siege bless your damn shield if you love it so much. Play another shard if you want it insured. *grins*

The question that I keep landing back at is "Why shouldn't a shield be disarmable?"

The only reason it should not be, is blessed or insured

I think its horrible. I dont ever remember them being disarmable and my mage has been wearing one for years...NEVER has it been disarmed. NEVER. And now, my wep, then my shield....gah.

Considering how many times my shield has been disarmed in addition to my weapon... I don't see why shields shouldn't be disarmable when no weapon is armed.

The same reason they can use weapons while casting. The SpellChanneling property is set to "True" ;)

Anything you hold in your hands should be disarmable, weapons, books, shields, torches, lanterns whatever.

Based on your skill in such weapon or shield the chance shouldn't be 100% though.

I think shields should be disarmable. I remember when they were before and I'm glad they are now.

Actually, I'm trying to figure out if it's an existing feature that is just more apparent now, an intended side effect (possibly because of a fix to a bug with disarm/rearm macros and how they affected shields, or possibly the spellbook change) or a new bug.

Bah, it's no bug...it's a wonderful new gift from the developers to disarm thieves. Sure, people will learn how to protect the shields (it's not like insurance will be removed once disarmed) but in the mean time (especially on Siege) we disarm thieves can exact some revenge on the parry/mages on the our shards...la

Because nearly every shield ever created was designed with one form of strap or another that fastened it around your arm, shoulder, or wrist.

A buckler for example.. it is called a BUCKLer because many of them used a strapped Buckle to hold them onto the forearm. To forcably remove one from the weilder would require either cutting off their arm, or getting Under the buckler and somehow cutting the straps without being cut to pieces themselves in the process. ;)

Even in melee you don't get close enough to kiss the opponent, and that is what it would require to remove one short of chopping off their arm.

That's because us disarmers are that good...la

Stratics will make anyone a Mod.

Good grief, why not just go find the nearest bum and make him a Mod.

Pathetic :coco:

I have a suspicion that this might be a side-effect of fixing the disarm/rearm bug, but not in the way you think. Yes, it was always (err, since AoS I should say) possible to disarm a shield, but the success chance was so rare as to make it not worth trying. I have only seen it happen two times prior to this publish. It seems that fixing that disarm/rearm bug may have messed with that. If so, the obvious way to fix it would be to make the success chance for disarming a shield low. I don't think it should be as low as it was (near impossible) but I would not say it should be any more than a 20% chance at 120 Wep/90 Tact or 120 Wrestle.

Sheilds, should not be disarmable simply because it is a balance that is not needed.

Parry mages have to screw with their stats enough just to get parry, your really killing the template not to mention that on siege it will only further hampen mages which are already gear dependant but also because warriors bless their weapons and us mages dont use weapons.

As a said, regardless of what YOU THINK should be disarmable, its a fix that ist needed, if you want to argue realism, the damn thing is fastened to my arm, I dont think someone would be able to take it.

With that said.

Disarming shields does not make sence in the "realism" catagory.

Disarming shields does not make sence in the "balance pvp" catagory.

I really hope this is considered a bug.
