So there are different degrees of exploiting? some more legal than others?

If this thread becomes about a poster and about the nature of that posters reason, then this thread is pointless and is really nothing more than a personal attack on that person.

This entire subject is about greed.

The house placement was clearly a bug, and obviously it was going to be corrected. So it's down to the foolishness of players who expected to place using a bug and keep their resulting home. Nobody with half a brain would have expected those houses to remain upright. Also, the longer a building is left, the more stuff said owner could have moved into it. Swift deletion is the better option to protect the daft gits from losing more of their stuff. It also prevents scams from players trying to make a fast buck selling to others.

It's typical that we normally complain that bugs aren't fixed, action isn't taken against players who abuse bugs, then when swift action is taken to correct illegally placed houses, there's a riot about that too. We should rename UHall as Never Happy Hall...Sheesh....

i don't feel too sorry for the people that are losing their stuff due to EA dropping the illegally placed houses. you have a week before your old house falls... why would you move all your crap to a new house that was placed in a spot that has always been illegal? i would feel sorry for total noobs who might have unknowingly bought one of these houses, however, total noobs wouldn't have been able to afford what i'm guessing the illegally placed houses were selling for. just my 2c.

I don't know about that. I am kind of in an internal turmoil on this.

In one sense, breaking the rules is breaking the rules and the results should be the same.

This is in contrast to the "The Blind eye of Justice needs to be tempered by the Compassion of the people"

My problem, is when this particular action, tips into the field of "Knowingly exploiting a Posted BUG with the intent of PERSONAL PROFIT".

The higher or if want, the more aggravated form of that is "FOR REAL LIFE CURRENCY PROFIT".

When a violation of the rules hit that level, for me, the crap, no matter who it came from, all smells the same.

I was pondering on this situation last night as well, and I had a feeling this would happen, no surprise here, and quite honestly, if anyone moved their items into these houses without waiting for an official response from EA, they shouldn't be surprised if the houses get deleted without notice.

Now if only they were as prompt with tracking down dupers storehouses and banning their accounts...

What I don't understand about the people who placed the houses is, anytime new areas have been opened for house placement, haven't we been given the word on it?

Not always. When they changed some terrain objects to no longer block, that opened up so many new housing possibilities. It was also what caused some houses to get placed right next to moongates. The same goes when the changed the area around Yew for the Orc Scenario. Players now have houses in the guard zone because of that.

With something like this, knowing there was the missing guards anyway, I think it was simple greed that lead some to place houses (Keeps and Towers and as big as you can get etc) there...

Anything you lost is on you this time.

Like I said earlier on, if you wanted the spot but weren't sure you could have placed and moved nothing in for a day or two and waited for an annoucement or something, but if anything got lost I have no sympathy now.

If anyone bought or sold these illegal houses, no sympathy from me there either. Anyone with an account old enough to have enough gold to buy a house like these, knew they were in a guard zone and houses shouldn't be allowed there. If they were greedy enough to buy, they are out the gold. Too bad, so sad.

Regardless of if they did or did not, the changing a flower or twig option to not block house placement, with the intent (as in spirit of) to allow house placement, may or may not have been announced. This might have been done to allow the players to "discover" something new. This is not in the same class as "Repealing" a rule "You can not place a house in a Guard Zone".

When we found out about it last night there were no houses placed in Britain from what I could see. Instead of informing us that we shouldn't be placing, they just let it happen. Now they are stealing player gold, items, real money for new open accounts and leaving people stuck with condemn houses.

they should have done an immediate revert or left it on test center long enough to actually find out about it. i agree they really just dropped the ball on this one. some of the posts in this thread are pathetic.

I went to West Britain Bank and let players know that this opportunity was available. Greed would have been to keep all this to ourselves and score some housing spots. They shouldn't have to inform you of this, it's common sense. If Ea messes up on their patch that allows you to exploit something like this, Then it's your fault. You ran the risk, you were just being greedy, I guess spamming in brit that you can place in guardzones didn't really help you did it.


Now if YOU didn't get a house and EA let people keep them, you would be the first to make a post about it saying they shouldn't have let people keep them, you know it, I know it, and most of people on stratics knows it. So just bite the loss on this one, you didn't get to exploit a new keep.

They (EA/Mythic) should revert all the shards because a few greedy players/guilds couldn't resist taking advantage of a known post-patch bug and now are crying because a VERY FEW of the houses they illegally created have been demolished.

Get a life. Most of the houses will remain until Monday for people to clear out their stuff... for the few who lost something, too bad, but you shouldn't have been trying to take advangage anyway. This time you lose.

One person innocently losing 33K should justify a revert due to Dev's accident? That's like saying if Southwest Airlines has any turbulance on your flight you should get a refund? or if anyone gets airsick even a little (not hearth attack) they should land the whole plane immediately.
