look at how bad your cheaters are. The jungle is so safe, they can play without even being there, that's just sorry, and that's why we were in the game in the begining. We were nerfed because you would see 10 theives at every moongate and everywhere you went and they truely were a grief class. EVERYONE was making a thief at one point. It's a good class. It's not my fault all of you newbs made one and pissed off the gate campers town sitters and people who weren't playing attended.
I recall may discussion on the thief forum about our dislike for gate campers. Heck, I think we were one of the loudest voices when they allowed gate jumping/stealing.

I remember days on Atlantic when we would take over Khaldun (I haven't been in there in years). We had Scoundrel's Cove (for those not aware, it was a player run thief town on the beach of Magencia on Atlantic). It was thieves on Atlantic that used the chaos/Order system to go to trammel to steal. Guilds were created to counter the thief guilds on the shard. Buccs Den was always full of PvPers who knew the isle was filled with thieves. Why? They knew that playing against disarm thieves would improve their PvP skills and increase the fun they had while in-game.

The release of publish 16 and AoS really killed our profession, all we are asking for is for the profession to be brought back. yes for personal enjoyment, but at the same time, we know we will also bring up the fun for other players too...la

Well when I've mentioned it I've brought it up as a quasi Siege style format for Fel, no insurance and 1 blessed item. From playing Siege I know this 1 item will be an Uber weapon. Running around naked in that circumstance isn't really an option unless you like getting dropped in 2 hits by an archer, or less from a dragon.
So it would make sense to make your mark a mage then wouldn't it? Or someone already engaged in combat? Again, any mechanic to gain any advantage.

with item insurance, lrc, etc.. you don't have much to lose. Just pretties

and if you've ever played a thief, the biggest part of it is dying. You die before you get to play, you die from blues and reds, you die from guards, you get ganked on sight and have to get tricky.

It was overbalanced, I'm just saying it was a valid class and should be brought in. If you don't like them, then stay in trammel and let them steal in fel. PS caming is boring, the 2nd biggest part of playing a thief is char vs char interaction.

and yeah if someone was dumb enough to hit fel with a 15 mil rare then they deserve to lose it.

Keep trammel safe, but what's the difference between a house sitting red rez killing everyone in sight, or a thief who is trying to steal from you? You can probably kill the thief, and the pk will hand you your ass.

Thieves and murderers belong together, but they aren't the same lump playstyle.

If you want tram, you've got it. Let us have fel. If you don't like dying or getting pkd, or pvp, or thieves, stay on your half of the game. But to make it a valid class it will have to be able to steal what you have. There are all kinds of ways to stay safe from a thief. If pvp was based around cheap easily obtained items in fel, then you're crafters could sell some of and use that junk you're making by the thousands

I hate to tell you this. Your only future is Siege. I know you want a different answer, but it is not going to happen.

You folks that like to kill thieves are welcome too.
I respect the players that play siege but unfortunately Siege is still an item based system that is not really supported much by EA. I have a pretty well developed thief on siege and Ill give you a perfectly good example of why Siege isnt what it could be. The other day I stole a nice weapon from an overpowered tamer with a superdragon. He manages to pretty much insta kill me with all kill. You know what? I still have his weapon because it stays with me. Two things are wrong with this situation, 1 the tamer is balanced (poorly at that) for a production shard and 2 i still have the weapon I stole despite the fact he killed me. The list goes on and on with Siege but the fact is siege is poorly developed for and is a far cry from classic UO. All the imbalances brought on by AOS(item based gameplay) and Samurai Empire(stealth) and many other changes along the way plague Siege. Like I say I respect the Siege players and their desire for an old school UO feel but in my opinion Siege itself fails miserbaly to deliver because EA doesnt support it much.

Not really Mages can cast ranged spells, I can't take their spellbook, LRC items that are equipped would prevent me from stopping them casting... they have about the same odds as a dexxer that runs after me bashing me to be honest.

People already engaged in combat are one of my favorites now..they have to choose between chasing me down for what ever they lost or continuing the fight with the person they are already engaged with. That wouldn't change.

I have played a thief, and unfortunately he is stationed on Sonoma, which a particularly underpopulated shard. Don't get me wrong, on those rare occasions I can get myself a boat, and on an extremly rare occasion I hoped a gate into fel to someone stocking their vendor. It's those rare occasions where I get a second breath in playing him. But when I say rare occasion, I mean extremely rare.

I am trying to make a thief on Siege, which is a slow process indeed. God knows when I will even get him up to speed.

Maybe this question could be answered for FoF? Would be nice to hear from the devs to know whether or not Thieves will ever be changed on production shards? Heck, a simple Yes or No would suffice for now :p

Well, maybe not. If No then there would be the why If Yes, there would be the when

Ugh, Ok im just gonna say, clearly alot of people in this thread know nothing.. full stop they are idiots. lol

Thieves do not give a hoot about trammel or any other tram ruleset land. We just want the chance to actually steal something.

I COULD rant all day about this but im not going to, because frankly i know in my heart there are too many of "them" in uo now for it to ever be viable to play uo how it was meant to be (with some form of potential to LOSE something)

All im gonna say is this, Siege has bless items, it has artifacts, it has runics etc, it has no insurance, it has no trammel (i cant believe someone would recommend you goto siege and play in fel and then say theres no blessed items when everyone allways has at least ONE lol..... anyway)

ima cut this off here and post a side thread as an idea :p its spunky and i like it, feel free to come flame it if you have a real reason to oppose it :p

Well, being that it's friday, perhaps this could be answered for FoF? Lest it be too late.

before the devs comment, they should go read my post how to steal in trammel.
