i think thats pretty funny, if only i found out right away... because of people being able to place where they usually can't, there is one spot north west of brit moongate right next to a farm where a keep can fit, this spot was available in tram and fell on every shard, i missed it in tram on my shard and a small house blocked the fell spot... but i did place an 18 by 18 inside the guard zone in tram :)

doubt it, they wont take the time to do that, they wont be able to tell the difference between the old ones that were there for 10 years or so and the new ones

you never know. wouldn't it suck if a bunch of greedy opportunists were suddenly homeless in a month?

lol.

that would be pretty funny actually, i mean i hope they do delete them, i like seeing people have their dreams crushed and having their keep deleted would be kind of funny :p i only tossed down an 18 by 18 in guard zone to resell it

The last time this happened, the owners were given a warning that their house would be dropped by the GM's if they didn't drop it themselves.

seriously tho. how did anyone know that you could do this, have the devs been giving HOT guild hints and tips again.

Actually all they have to do is access the house sign..it will say
when the house was placed right down to the actual time and date.

Somebody posted about it on UHall yesterday but when I tried to find the post again I couldn't (so either it was deleted or I didn't look hard enough).

While it's tempting to have a GZ house, I can't imagine they'll let them stay. I should think it's fairly easy for them to check when they were placed and, let's face it, some will probably be paged on too.

You mean like all those OSI owned houses that still haven't dropped after years? Yeah, I see them jumping right on it. And then, tomorrow, they will fix the duping problem and balance pvp.

It was pretty easy to figure out once people learned that the guards had be bugged out of existence. Casting area spells in town, pk'ing and placing houses share the same theme.

especially since most placers are very aware that it is a bug.
so the 18x18 person is out to basicly scam someone out of gold for a house that will more than likly be removed ?

but then again..
i rememeber reading something about new house spots opening up..

I have seen houses in guardzones for years. Those were allowed to stay and weren't considered 'scams'. That's not to say that EA won't get around to dropping any new house that was recently placed in a guardzone. But, as per the norm, consistency is an issue.

The houses that you have seen in GZ's for years are grandfathered in because the house placement rules were changed after they were placed. I don't see consistency being an issue.

You don't see the fact that a player can walk up to a guardzone and see a house that is legal and walk up to a guardzone and see a house that isn't legal as an inconsistency? How exactly are players supposed to know which of these guardzone houses are grandfathered and that if they buy them they won't get dropped by the devs tomorrow versus those houses that aren't grandfathered and will get dropped tomorrow? Do the signs say "Grandfathered house that won't be dropped for being in a guardzone"? If they do,then my apologizes.

In Oceania, we have some player houses built ON TOP of some Old Haven buildings. They've been there for some time now.

Don't ask me how.

Hi there!

We can tell the difference and will remove all houses placed illegally. The owners should, of course, remove them themselves.

What is going to be done for those players that bought these new houses not knowing they weren't one of the mysterious 'grandfathered' types? I assume nothing but maybe I will be pleasantly surprised.

What happened to the people that scammed in the past in house transfers?

Depends on the scam. Those that sold houses in guardzones inthe past sold 'grandfathered' houses. So the people that bought them didn't suffer as much as in this case. The point isn't that the scammer should be helped in any way, but like the bans on people that owned 'duped' items vs banning those that sold them, it seems like EA is focused on punishing the victims.

The person that places a house in this case is in a win win situation. They either sold the house for a big profit or they can drop the house and recoup their costs. Either way, they aren't out anything. However, those unlucky ones that were tricked into buying said houses are going to suffer. Once again, the innocent players suffer because of EA's poor design and the griefers gain. You sorta get the feeling that this is how EA wants it. I can't imagine so many examples of this practice not being intentional.
