How long do you play UO at one time?

hail: 10 years ago i used to walk away from the PC after logging out of the game after 5-6 hours, 2 times a day, and want to go log back in, "For just a few more minutes". This went down over the years.

Now, i only play maybe a hour at most before logging out, and maybe 3 hours a day total. If they did not have the current turn in thingy going on, it would be even less than that. How about you all? Have your UO hours gone down much since you started playing?

1998-2000: Couldn't tear me away ... easily 4-6 hours/night once home from work (can we say dinner at the keyboard?) and more on weekends
2000-2003: declining usage ... 2-3 hours nightly, maybe 6 on weekends
2003 - AoS ... left completely
2004 - present: returned, maybe 3 hours tops every couple nights, about same in any one stretch on weekends.

I've played for 8 years and taken many long breaks in that time. When I was still in school, I played about 4-5 hours a day (except on weekends). When I start working, I will probably go back to 4-5 hours a day. Right now though, I'm playing about 14-20 hours a day.

Same here every chance I got I was logged in doing something. Now I log in 2 times a day to pick up bod's and somethimes only one run. I logged in for the spring cleanup but noticed that the items that are worth so few points (which are also the reason we need a cleanup) take too long to turn in. So I haven't cleaned up anymore.

My hours have gone down for two reasons:

1. My work schedule has increased dramatically

2. No new expansion.

However, when the next expansion comes out I'll probably try to play several hours a day.

First two years i used to play anywhere from 3 to 16 hours a day. Which i think is an official addiction. Then real life went uphill and UO time went downhill to an hour every other day. Then i quit for two years, and i´m currently playing one or two hours a day, and it´s completely normal to skip days now.

I recommend working on the skills yoga, friendship, work and a relationship. In that order.

My longest UO session ever was 36 hours though. :D

1998-2000: A lot more than was healthy. I didn't sleep much, but did actually leave the game to eat.

2000-2001: Almost no time. I would be gone for weeks and hardly notice

2001-2007: Quit.

2007-About a month ago: Maybe two hours a week.

Now my time in game has really picked up thanks to finding a great guild (GRI-Cats) who I really work well with. Still, unless I'm spawning or doing peerless, it's never more than an hour or two before I go back to my real life.

Im running on 38 hours right now...then I will "sleep" for about 21 Hours. But I have issues sleeping, ill lay there in bed thinking about how I Dismounted, mortal, concussion, moving shot this guy for about 6 hours, then I will fall asleep, and wake up 15 hours later, hop onto the computer, and play for another day and a half straight.

Ill call for delivery ever 9 hours or so...i have lost 67 pounds since I have started last month. What do you have to say about THAT Jerry (of Subway)! A week later ill think about taking a shower, ill just sneek into the pool, pour a few bottles of Dawn in there, jump in and out, and that will be my weekly bath.

Yeah real life seems to get in the way.

I recommend working on the skills yoga,
Not a huge fan of yoga.

friendship,
I have better in game friends then I ever had IRL friends.

I'm really excited about doing social work, so I do plan on working near the end of the summer.

I don't believe in love or relationships. They are just an illusion to me. If I'm going to get involved in illusions they might as well focus around the game.

My longest UO session ever was 36 hours though. :D
Even I have not been that obsessed.

In the end, NO system will ever come close to the fun that you get playing with others in UO. I am constantly playing with either my two close in game friends (that I transfered to Legends with) or my awesome PvM/PvP guild. When I'm done playing with both of them I don't have much time left as down time.

RL has a way of bringing total amount of recreation time down over the years in general. Families, careers etc all play their part in affecting play time.

That being said finding the "fun" in the game I have always felt was greatly affected by the ability to play with others and taking on things beyond your ability to solo. The more enmeshed in the community you get the greater draw towards playing in general.

I can only imagine...

My step great niece is one of the best kids I have ever seen. She seriously is very quiet, and behaves very well. Shes like 2 months old. It will be nice if she stays that way. I've never even heard her cry (even when she needs changed or is hungry).

Actually, and this is weird I guess, but I play UO 1 or 2 hours a day, and I spend 1 to 2 hours a day reading and posting on stratics, lookin at UOs homepage for updates and searching websites for weapons and armour.
Actually havent Even played yet tonight and I probobly wont, but Ive certainly been reading posts and did one of my 3 weapons searches for the day(saidly theres been nothing new In the archery department for about a week)

Oh but ya, around 2000 when I started I worked, and played UO, got 3 or 4hours sleep, eatin at the keyboard, you know the deal.

six years ago, I was a junkie.......today, maybe an hour or two, depends on what's going on in reality.

Baby makes a HUGE difference.

Yoga and tai-chi, very recommended, the accumulation of excess adipose tissue is most definately an end result of playing online games........eat like a pig ingame not IRL!!

New games tend to do that...wait till you get a 70 in a raid dungeon and are running the same stuff week after week till November when all the raid guilds powerlevel to 80 to run the same stuff week after week before you get a real picture of what WoW is really like. The leveling process in WoW is actually part of the fun of the game. Its the end game that blows.

My friend started his career at Wal-Mart. With in six months he was a department manager. He won constant awards for being the best department manager in his district. He then went to another company as a store manager. He excelled there and became the training manager for that company. They relocated him to Virgina.

Same here when I started and for the first couple of years. Even after AOS I still played a lot. Over the past year it started declining in part due to RL and the game itself. Now? Every other day for around 5 minutes to check and restock vendors.

Nowadays, five to ten minutes. I get the GGS on few characters, then I train a few skills that will increase without needing GGS, usually consisting of pressing a button at a two second interval for as long as I can stand, which is about five minutes.

What would REALLY help me play more would be bringing back POWERHOUR! You got a whole hour on you character where you had a meaningful time gaining skills.

Once a character is completed, I get very bored. This is why I don't understand why people complain about how slow skill-gain is. If there were no skill-gain, I would probably quit this game.

Before the accident, when I was still working, 2-3 hours a night after work and maybe 6 or so hours on a weekend. Now I can't sit in my desk chair for more than an hour at at time, so I play for an hour or less, then go do someting else and come back in a little while and play for another hour or so.

Anywhere from zero, to 10 minutes, to 4 hours.

Anything over 1.5 to 2 hours and I decide I've been playing too long.

As 2nd in command at our company I demand that all our UO players/workers hop on as often as they like, read forums, post and generally have fun. Well since I am the only UO player per se that kinda just means me but the rest of the workers get to throw rolled up sticky vinyl balls at each other....I have one stuck to my hair while posting this in fact.....

Other than that, I hop on when I can for as long as I can *grins*

On average 1-2 hours during the week and normally only every other day. On week-ends, it's about 4-5 hours but it can be more (on rarer occasions), if there is a good fight going on or if we're just doing a few spawns and peerless runs.

It used to be crazy before where I would play at least 4 hours every night and pretty much all day and night on week-ends. :blushing:

that kind of mirrors my gaming. a lot of hours on weekends (when i'm home) and usually about 3 hours each week night, sometimes more, sometimes less. during the AoS slime event on the Japanese shards i logged in 16.5 hours straight (friday night through saturday noon). that wasn't typical for me, but it sure was fun :)

That cant be healthy. I mean dont your eyes hurt staring at the monitor for that long? I think my longest day playing in the last year was a 6 hour run where my guild did nothing but chain despice...But after that I didnt play the game for three days.

I dont you know you at all dude, but maybe you should go out and get some of that Daystar to radiate all over you, and I dont mean a run to taco bell..Take a nice walk =)

'98 - Trammel: As much as physically possible.

Trammel - '08: I Quit. Played lots of games for lots of time.

3 Weeks Back: Greatly ranges on work, classes, and most importantly, how evil the girl friend is feeling... If it was only based on me? As much as I could get.

I honestly spend more time on the Forums or Stratics considering new templates and template changes.

20000-03 - As much as humanly possible. Wake up early and do a reg run. Spend 9 hours at work waiting to get home. Get home and restock vendors. Scrolls, regs, runebooks. Furniture and GM armor/weps. Those were the days, long before loot drops. We are talking 6-7 hours per day, and every single possible hour during my days off.

I quit sometime during 2003 to play DAoC. Had a phat time too. Between DAoC and SWG I came back for about a month. When SWG hit I was gone for another couple years.

Have been back twice in the last couple years, for about a month the first time and around 4-5 weeks so far this time.

Currently playing about 1-2 hours a night. 5-6 hours on my days off. Some days more, some days less, and some days not at all. It gets hard to find things to do and I end up sitting there staring at the screen. Like some others, the Clean Up has kept me ingame, with something constant to do, but Ive got no idea how long that will last.
