I dont know if there is a bug or this is normal.

My merchant is a thief. (yeah the jokes)

65 strength for like the last 6 months. During the last month Ive marked runes to his shop no str gains. I would just let my mana go up itself and mark again.

This weekend I started using meditate skill. Strength flew up like it was broken.

Is this intended?

You lucky *******, I have Str 93 on my second crafter and have no gains for two or three weeks. May be I should try train it by meditation, I have used Lumberjacking.

An odd thing about pets, when they GM certain skills, certain stats which previously refused to budge will suddenly fly up at pretty much the rate you described.

For example, if they cap anat, they'll suddenly get a ton of int gains.

It was quite wierd. I think I capped something. Its not a complete characture so I was turn stuff on and off.

And bingo. It was really odd.

I mean during a meditate phase I saw str go up 3,4,5 points. Very odd.

Its not that weird to me. I don't exactly know how the ROT is working currently but some skills I believe have a higher percent chance to raise a specific attribute (str/dex/int) etc.

You're more likely going to get strength gains doing physical activities and intelligence gains doing magic stuff. Although this may not be the way the system works, from my experience it is.

So I suggest.

If you aren't getting gains in the attribute you want, pick up a weapon or spell book (depending on what you're trying to gain), set a skill up and start training that skill. Usually the effect is immediate. You'll get an attribute gain right away. Just keep doing that until you either reach your desired level of the attribute or until skill level 50, soulstone and delete that skill, and then start over.

Don't forget to lock other attributes while training. Most people today either have a soulstone or a fragment so it should be pretty easy to do. I've trained all of my attributes in a period of 3 days to my desired levels doing the above method.

Edit:

For mules, its as simple as training armslore. If you already have armslore, stone it off and start retraining it. It does really good for strength gains. Intelligence gains are pretty easy to get with meditation and magery.

So I guess if the primary for Meditation (INT) is capped or locked then STR will raise...

I've seen this too, it appears that if you are using a skill, and the primary stat for that skill is locked, then the secondary sometimes will gain like mad. I've gained like 30pts in str in a few hours plugging dragons with my archer and noticed it...

yep thanks all
What happen is I hit 125 INT.
So everything went to STR there after.

Makes sense.

Was very funny it was so odd.

Actually, that list isn't accurate anymore. Not counting the training of a skill in the low levels, I found that only certain skills raise stats now, even if all other skills are not locked and are marked as "up".

Mining from 90 to 100 didn't give me a single str point. No gains after I gm'd mining either. But tinkering shovels at 100 tinkering did. So did tailoring oil cloths. Combat skills also give increases.

So if you are training stats, I would recommend crafting items or using combat skills (excludes magery, no gains from it either).
