Can't force the VP back

I went on a VP run with some randoms tonight and had a stranger than usual experience. Aside from the 61 laff blue dog who didn't execute a single gag, when three of us managed to finish off the skelecogs (blue dog bit it) my pies wouldn't force the VP back. I thought I was just throwing them too low. After about thirty minutes I found myself alone and the VP back at the top of the ramp. I could stun him but once stunned, my pies did nothing when they hit him on the body. Since he was at the top of the ramp I was behind him and didn't have enough time to run to the front to hit him after stunning. Do the pies have to come from the front to force him back or did I just run into some weird glitch?

I will say I got lots of practice avoiding the gears he throws but I'm still not very consistent with hitting the undercarriage. I've gotten really good at jumping from just listening.

Yes, the pies have to come from the front. You can't push him back from the back. Though I remember a time when there was a bug and you could. was quite odd..

You threw from the back? You need to at least run to the side during stuntime to hit him.

When he's stunned is when the backstunners STOP throwing normally.

I learned from watching Steve and a few others how to stun from the front which makes it easier to be where needed to knock him back once he is dizzy.

I know yesterday I did a vp and he was actually stuck. I guess it was lag. I was in the back stunning and everyone else was in front. I would get a pie in and they would hit like crazy. He was red with each hit but wasn't moving. Everyone was like Huh? He just wasn't going anywhere. After about 30 seconds of slamming him with pies he rolled down the ramp. It was also a problem with his jumping. It came out of nowhere and we all got 10 laff off 3 times because of it. I am still not a great front stunner but back stunning is a breeze. Definitely harder to solo the pie round unless you are a great front stunner too. It can be done as I've done it but front is easier.
