Well, i bought a web site just for the halloween deco contest. Got everything set up for the voting.

But when i saw that C&C was gone, i thought i could use this web site for other things as well - the name is appropriate and there's plenty of room.

So, i was thinking of snagging/nicking as many deco pictures as i could and fill the site with lots of... pictures. of course, the person who created the idea would be noted, if known.

i know i saw a thread somewhere, where people said since the pictures were already in the public domain, that people probably wouldn't mind if other people kept copies.

That said - anyone who would like to donate their deco ideas to the new webpage, get with me and i'll give you an email address to send them to.

and do you think anyone would mind if i thumbed through the threads here and scavenged some deco ideas for the web page?

I don't mind at all. On and off through the years I have toyed with the idea of making a UO deco site and have even gone so far as to do a little bit of work on such a thing, but haven't followed through mainly from time constraints and other issues. I'm still tempted to do one but who knows when that would ever happen, and I don't really feel like I have a trademark on my ideas, since its all for fun and we all pretty much borrow off each other anyways.

So yeah go ahead and grab anything of mine that you want. I know skylark has a pretty big collection of ideas I'm sure she wouldn't mind sharing. I see someone asking a question about something, and she whips up a picture like some guy opening his overcoat to show you his selection of "Rolexes", it's actually pretty impressive how she remembers all that stuff.

The voting place for the halloween contest is on the same web site as my new deco page, so waiting a week or so before announcing it

I want a few more entries for the contest before opening it to view. actually, a LOT more. I'm starting to get scared this is going to do a 'lead balloon' and crash. Yeah, still got 2 weeks, and it'll likely fill up, but... I'm nervous lol

As for the deco part of the page, it's looking very nice indeed. I did 7 hours worth of work on it yesterday (ty god for FTP) and it's filled nicely enough now I wouldn't mind opening it up. But - want more ween entries first.

Feath, I think it's a great idea to resurrect a website for deco. If it wasn't for some of those websites, the keeps I had to decorate would have been very boring!!

yes, it was. but Teeshy is sending me the stuff she managed to copy, so maybe some of it will be transferable. As well, i'm getting the stuff from the forum.

Today, i've been link hoping, finding new places; digging through the forum, and generally just gathering info. I'm going to try and find as much as I can. Then it's just a case of keeping up with you lot :bowdown:

I had been fiddling with settings and had to go into the raw files to allow me to use img src HTML tags heh. So now that I have that fixed I can actually put guides up instead of just putting albums up for stuff I've done

Hi Feath! You can steal anything that I post. I am currently working on a new design and when I get all the major things in place I'm gonna try to get it ready for the Halloween contest. Don't get too nervous, I bet you'll get quite a few more entries before too long. It's just hard sometimes to come up with original ideas for Halloween deco. Brainstorming in process...

by highjacked, i meant, when she didn't renew, someone else quickly snagged it. I'll lay odds in a week or two, she'll get a little letter saying, if you want your domain back, pay $100 in unmarked bills....

It's happened to me twice, but i had released them deliberately, so they paid for a domain that was thrown away heh.

I'm looking forward to all entries in the contest ... guess, um, i should do mine now, yeah?

The way GoDaddy has it set up, since she and I use the same company for domains, is that they hold the name for a few months and give you a chance to renew it if necessary. I wanna say it's 3-6 months.

I don't think I've posted anything specifically that I've created, but you can use anything I post. Usually I just do full house designs and since I mainly garden, most of them are centered around plants and I deco seasonally. Right now I'm trying to figure out what to do for Fall/Halloween.

Thanks everyone! I've already got a couple of hundred or more examples up. And i've still got more to go! It's a simple site, easy on the graphics on top; its only as you start clicking thumbnails that you might run into some heavier pictures. user friendly... *teases more*

Kayhynn, since you seem to have communication with her, if it is a financial issue with the domain registration & hosting, please let us know. If the site owner has PayPal, I would imagine we could send some donations to get the site back up. C&C is kind of a UO deco fixture much like Tower of Roses for BoDs and such, I'd hate to see it just go away. At least maybe if it is back up & running arrangements can be made for transfering the content later.

I have a web hosting service. I'll host the domain for free for one year - after that, you're welcome to use the service at normal price, or find someone else who'll host it.
if they have a back up of the page, its easy enough to get it back up. although they might have to get another domain name.
Its like 5 bucks to register with go daddy.

we think similarly, Skylark new sites are always welcome, and old sites are like old friends... can't tell ya how many times I've jumped to Tower of Roses and C&C over the years
