Why can't we have Lord British's armor?

Because it looks so ******** to put it on?
There's an item type thingie (you don't see them floating around, they are just possible to have exist) which, when you equip it, it turns you into, like, a Lord British. And there's one for Blackthorne too, and one for this dude named Dupree. These items are expectedly GM-only deals, like British and Blackthorne costumes sorta.
They make me think of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, with the funny little emblems on the chest and stuff.

Yeah, that's what we need, a face mask like an Orc mask, but with LB's face on it.

It changes the face, it basically poofs the char that wears it into Lord British.

Just a little bit of technical input since I happen to know how the armor works behind the scenes.
LB's armor is not like other armor in the game. The entire suit is a single piece and has no art when unequipped other than a diamond shaped graphic that says what it is on it.
Also when you equip this it kind of overrides your characters body in a sense so that you "look" like LB himself. Much like a GM robe overrides bodies to make all GMs appear pretty much the same outside of a fancy weapon or whatever they may happen to have that sets them apart.
So there really is no way to give players a suit of LB armor without adding completely new art to separate it into pieces that can be individually equipped.
Could this happen in the future? Sure if the devs really wanted to give us that. Would it ever happen in the future? Probably not because it would conflict heavily with the game fiction because since day one of the game that particular armor has defined a main character that should always remain one of a kind.

Yeah, I know the LB avatar was a 1 piece thing, he didn't wear stuff like the rest of us. I didn't know GMs were doing anything with it, though. Was that with the buy-a-party thing they had?

I was just messing around a little because "shinies" seem so important to allot of players. Not that I blame anyone, I want things too. But I wanted to see if this would develop into a general demand, just to see if it was really that bad.
I guess the player base was better than that.

I don't know what graphic is used for the item on production shards (diamond-shaped or whatever) but it's exactly as Doomsday Dragon describes in its operation and effects.

Because when they had the choice in beta to kill him or not kill him they killed him. I would have to say his armor was probably leather or wood and burnt up in mass fires.

Right the actual graphic for the armor can be found using insideuo and the diamond shaped tile used for it is the only thing ever used just like a GM robe when taken off is nothing more than text saying GMRobe you can drag the text as an object and if you are a GM you can equip it although they may have restricted GMs from removing the robe these days.
But if you would like to test out the GM robes and LB armor as well as the others that exist you can get a UO emulator and login on it and test them out. Which yes is legal. You can legally emulate UO as long as it is not made publicly available for others to login on.
There was not a choice to kill him or not to kill him. Lord British was basically PK'ed by a notorious trouble maker.

and ... essentially (even though he stepped into the "void") he was buried in it ! ! now just how creepy is THAT to be asking to be sporting around in at the bank ... ??
but, okay ... I'm intrigued now ... what are the resists and buffs and such ... is it button and/or "zippered" ... will it make my behind look big (I know I know ... nothing to be done about my head ... ) ... is it stealth blessed? (no show on mouse over) if not, CAN you bless it with just one "item bless deed"? if not ... insurable? PoF? Enhance? is there a cloak that goes with it? if so, can I still wear a quiver?

one. he wasnt intenionally killed, the guy was just bored and wanted to see what would happen. He expected to be killed by LB anyway for even tryin it.
2.He wasnt more a trouble maker than any other person in the game.
True all the guy did was happen to see a firefield scroll on the ground double click it and target LB and to his surprise it actually killed the guy lol he was promptly banned for doing that by the way.
The LB armor has no properties for anyone wondering it is nothing more than cosmetic.

I guess lots of players were using that bug, but it was well known. Very well known. So Hobbs (that was the character name) wasn't innocent at all, I don't think.
But LB didn't turn on his GM invulnerability like GMs were supposed to do, from what I gathered.
The GM avatars must have functioned differently than player avatars. I remember when LB came to Kazola's tavern on Great Lakes to place a plaque on the wall to honor the first player run tavern, he couldn't walk up the steps to get inside. He had to wait for GMs to do something or fix something. The way I heard it was that GMs had to set their Z axis or they'd walk under the house, and LB didn't know how to do that.

That is quite wrong about the Order Armour having no properties.
Back when UO ran with "AR" property to calculate protection offered by armour I think GM made Platemail was the best along with a Heater Shield scoring 51 or 52? 56 tops? I cannot recall.
British's Armour scored 80ish... Or was 800ish? Can't remember and can't bother.
But even 80 would translate to.. Uhmm.. 70's in all resists. He wouldn't have died in that Fire Field..ppP Only then Magic could only be blocked by Magic Resistance. But what are we arguing about, he had forgotten to /GodMode=On ... ;P
In today's AOS-infected world it would probably be having a really long list of properties and be an Armour Set too. But that's speculating.
To see the AR you had to wear the armour and check your Stats Window.
