Devs this is getting silly!! We need clarification on stuff that we can/cant buy ???

Pretty simple announcement needed here....and quickly too!!!

What can we buy/cant we buy safely?? Without fear of losing everything we have played for in last 7-8 or more years??

This is outragoeus that u have not made comment in near a week???

Also is there such things as duped 1m checks?? again plain silly when trading..how the hell do we know or are we supposed to know...do we have to recycle every check we ever trade for items to clear it proper???

i will agree as this issue with priceing of items is bugging me i would like to buy certain things and when looking i found several for 1 mil some for 750k and then 2 of them for 200k each now i am a cheapskate so i buy the cheapest and look for (what I hope is) mispriced items and i have to admit i also have in the past sold things for 25%-50% less then others in luna just to move it fast and yes sometimes even lower if an item dosnt move at all

in example runed switches sell for 20k-40k in luna but i sell mine for 2,500 each because i made a bunch thinking i could sell them for 10k (that not only didn't work but back fired badly)

I'm not going to give a specific number for the dupers to use to game the system, but it's high enough that most casual players won't hit it. The "innocent" guy who emailed me over the weekend had 160 or so duped items. Not so innocent. eh?

For the people asking for a list - it depends on the actual dupe. Some only work on specific items, some work on just about anything. The latter kind we can't very well warn you about. I suspect runics were the new hotness this time around because of the buff they got last winter.

That is a good start. If you think your check might be dupes... then either you shouldn't take them or at the VERY least recycle them.

Even Wilki seemed not to like the fact that people were making a real life living off buying and selling of items. People should probably take that into account if they decide that is what they want to do in UO.

I don't really see why it's so hard to figure out. If you see loads of high end items for sale, don't buy a bunch with the thought that you can resell them for a huge profit (or that you won't get banned, cause Mythic will only ban the dupers). If you come across an idoc and nab a bag that has 3 dozen ornies in it, just toss them in the garbage when you get back home. It's really common sense. I don't see why the paranoia is running so rampant.

Most of us know that the high end items aren't supposed to be available by the dozen, at any given time, on multiple vendors. Those who don't, aren't likely in a position to buy that many anyway. Seems to me that many of the people who got burned thought that since EA/Mythic didn't ban a bunch of people for buying dupes in the past, they could skate by again while reaping the benefits of the mess the dupers inflicted on us all.

If you buy a couple items here and there cause you need them, then I don't see why you have anything to worry about. (Valorite and Verite hammers seem way too radioactive to even think about buying however).

If you are a merchant who usually buys in bulk, then know your sources and accept the fact that the highest end items are not always going to be able to carry the highest end items for your customers. That's what makes them valuable afterall...

also i would like to point out since this got moved to spiels and rants that i was kind of saddened when i saw the market crash on the verite hammers due to the valorite dupes it dismays me to see that now if i ever get a verite it will prob not be worth 20-25 mil but only time will tell now

All that is happening is those banned are trying to desperatly cling onto the fact there ignorance of the ROC is why there bannings should be resended (since you have never shown you are even somewhat intelegent THP resend means basicly they should be unbanned). Then they and there freinds come to the boards trying to create hystria bye saying the devs and ea and the mods are all all idiots and kust because a few people might have been banned do to there own stupidity (one I consider a good freind) {bye either doing something polarizingly stupid like buying something that is super cheap and a item people have been duping recently (just bye the sheer volume of them on the market and the price of gold) or bye doing something against the ROC even if they were unaware it was against the ROC there ignorance is not a get out of jail free card.

If some of the players that were banned quite over it I think there being petualant children that like to misbehave but not take there punishment.
I also think even though some people say otherwise they did get the dupers as well as a few Innocent (good people that did something stupid bye not being informed or from there own greed bye buying something that was possibly duped) and they got caught in the net of the bannings thats on them if they want to take there licks and continue or run away when they dont get there way.

we've been told the cure all answer to this, thp - if the deal is too good, then its not a good deal.

um.

maybe not. since there is no way a player can know if checks aren't dupped, i'd say, launder the checks by having all transactions go through a vendor. it does, of course, protected dupers of 1m checks, but it will also protect you, the innocent buyer. #1 rule in anything; cover your butt. (yeah,okay, depending on the person, the #1 rule can be a lot of things. but when protecting yourself from unknowingly receiving duped checks, MY #1 rule is what i posted.)

Devs have always been tight lipped about bannings and duped items. I believe people for the most part should know if they are in possession of these items. Any clarification from devs would also be warning cheaters what to get rid of/what they can keep.

Of course, you could also say that putting out public warnings would cause people to stop buying certain items and put them out of business. Sure, theres more than one way of looking at things. I highly doubt though that they will post anything specific about these bannings or illegal items.

(at least the expensive high end items...i think crappy 50k stuff should be safe)

i have had a certain assasin suit for four months when i logged in one day and my character was standing there bare legged witha note explaining my pants were dupe (in a nutshell). so theres an example of a duped item.
