Things that might help Siege

I've noticed several things that have happened to Siege over the past 4 years to adjust the game towards production style shards.

While none of this really breaks the game for us (such as RoT, blessed/unbalanced armor and personal bless deeds) I have noticed a trend.

Swoops and ML creatures... its not fun to farm these creatures for hours and hours without getting an artifact. Before, they used to drop consistently (something we enjoyed because we would be able to use them and the better supply meant there was more being obtained and lost.)

Bags of Sending... look we don't have the same issues the other shards had with over inflated economies and scripters. We pk scripters and we don't have recall. Do you know what its like to run to the corners of Ilshenar... load up on 10k and then run all the way back?

Greater Dragons... we had a problem with stealth ninja tamers before and now you give them bigger teeth? Seriously?

Looting rights... look, we'd like to police ourselves here. I don't understand why I can't open another persons corpse and if it wasn't my kill... go grey.

Bene acts... I get flagged aggressor for sparing with my guildmate.

Just a few things I've noticed among the many of things that if addressed, would dramatically improve the shard and start the ball rolling in the right direction.

How many PvPers on other shards foam at the mouth thinking about having all facets to PvP on... players to loot... and that's not even to mention the RPers who love oomie clomping as orcs or the thieves who can plunder and pillage or even the crafters, whose daily stock is in constant demand... where you don't need to be running a small corporation to be in business.

I agree with most, But the bags of sending were mos definetally a good thing to get rid of... There was a small group of players totally farming gold 24/7 with those things and taking full advantage of it without 90% of the shard knowing what was going on... I know my brother and Jesus farmed BILLIONS of GOLD. I wont name anymore names but... yea that was one of the better things they did to prevent "scripting" on siege.

No bags of sending never! Hey this is how I eat, I can't eat if everyone just click on a bag to bank their goods. If you want to have riches here on siege, then you're gonna have to go through me.

Factions has a huge impact here. More than any other shard. Changes and fixes have been long overdue. The trick is getting the dev team to do anything about it. Bug fixes seem to be rather few and far between.

I agree with most but the bag of sending.

About the swoop, I think alot places need to have a chance to drop good items, that be dungeons, overland, heartwood, maps (all levels), locked/trapped containers or bods.

Even when crafting items, it would be cool if crafting a regular piece or weapon had a little chance to become an artifact like item.

About the stealth tamers, I more think it's the stealth/ninja's that need a nerf. To many invisible players on the shard. In the past we could track them and unhide them with field spells.
I do however agree, the powerful pets need to be nerfed in PvP.

I don't see why we need bags of sending at all. They should have just removed them from the game. As for swoops, the game needs to be less item-based, not more so. We don't need a more powerful loot system and we don't need more idiotic artifact events. Items need nerfed/removed and the loot system needs to be revamped.

I'm only quoting you, but this response is to everyone who's expressed this kind of concern.

I only have one question for you and this is the question I had to ask myself when I thought about this too...

Would anyone really be able to do any of this if this shard had a larger population?

The short answer is no.

Its not bags of sending that caused this problem, but our lack of population. We're not the same as Trammel-land because we can police ourselves.

I think that's the big reason why I disagree with all of you who have posted on this one.

We're not asking for a more powerful loot system but a more consistently useful one.

You're misssing the real purpose of the BOS nerf, it's not to give me and people of the likes a chance to kill your gold hoarding butt (although we enjoy it), it's to prevent BILLIONAIRES on Siege. You know as well as I do that no one should have as much gold as people like Shak and company have, the game was not intended for people to have those kinds of riches. I wouldn't even be surprised to find out that we actually had a couple of billionaires on siege, it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Siege is suppose to be a shard where you are forced to make friends and join forces, billionaires need no friends at all, they just throw money at any problems they have.

People can be oodles rich with or without them... that has nothing to do with it.

I understand you're point and the BoS's are not the problem...

then don't farm there. there are plenty of places closer to gates/banks in all facets. but they're prolly checked somewhat often.

risk....vs.....reward? isnt that the siege motto?

they should fix BoS's though....fix them like it so its like it used to be... when there were none

I could go for none... but, I don't even know if you realize how old they are... LBR?

They were never a problem until our population dropped and people could farm without the risk to keep it under control.

It was also something to do and it was pretty good business to get/sell those and trans powder.

Risk vs Reward is way more complicated than people may sometimes consider.

Factions has a huge impact here.
Agreed.

The poor excuse for a factions system was 90% of the reason I quit. And, after experiencing the in depth faction systems in other games since then; I don't think EA/Mythic has a prayer of ever catching up without a revamp of the entire system. If one based the development pace on history, that's probably about due in 2030.

There is all kinds of lore that can be shaped around factions that would make it much more immersible and enjoyable. Instead, UO gets the Mario Bros version for factions.

Sitting in other games and watching weekly PvP updates, balances and live content.. I wonder if EA/Mythic is just waiting for you guys to just give up and go away with their "Eh? Did you say something over there?"
