In response to a Stratics post asking Jeremy to discuss the reasons of the recent UO bannings in public:

I cannot. It's a violation of our privacy policy.

In response to a direct question made by a forum poster named "Lucy" on the same issue:

Lucy, just to be perfectly clear - we do not discuss account issues with anyone but the account holder. Therefore, I'm not going to talk about your account or any other here on Stratics.

Yet, Jeremy goes on to Violate the very terms she stated she would not violate (making it well known to anyone keeping up to date with this topic who she is referring to with the following comment):

The "innocent" guy who emailed me over the weekend had 160 or so duped items. Not so innocent. eh?

Even more disturbing is the following comment:

The willingness of people to take secondhand protestations of innocence at face value appalls me.

How dare you speak to the playing customer base in this manner? Sweetie, at 44, I can tell you one thing - the player base your addressing will or will not pay YOUR salary - I for one, do not contribute to it, and quite frankly, will seriousely consider future contributions to it through WAR. This isn't a threat, it's just a statement of fact that some of us older gamers couldn't care less if you have a job tomorrow - you are a luxury, not a necessity.

In addition, you need to keep in mind that the bulk of members on THIS forum are United States Citizens. They exist in a system that dictates "Innocent until PROVEN guilty." Mythic CANNOT prove those players who got banned were "guilty" without violating the privacy policy. In short, you are NOT permitted to discuss the actions that got a specific player banned with ANYONE OTHER THAN the account holder, therefore, you cannot produce any evidence to support your claim (double edged sword).

You should be more appalled if (at least some of) the player base wasn't standing behind "innocence" without proof to the contrary.

But EA ist not able / willing to give proof in my case.
I did even ask/allow them to discuss my case in public!

You are way out of Line here. Jeremy is providing what information she can, and has not provided any information that can be linked to a specific player.

Let me fill you in on a little secret, It is THEIR GAME, if they believe a player needs to be removed they do not have to answer to anyone. I frankly am shocked that they did not ban all the accounts of these players and seemed to allow the banned players to continue using their other accounts. You have every right to leave if you do not like this situation, but you should not impugn Jeremy in the process.

All your redorick here does NOT justify all the poor gameing. Just because one PAYS to play does NOT mean one can do with what they want to in the game. I aplaud Jeremy for keeping us informed.

I, for one as a vet, am pleased any time they can get rid of the CRAP that destroys our game play with their vile cheats and hacks.

How dare you if you truly are a vet for not appreceitating that hard work they do to keep our game clean.

EA Mythic doest HAVE to prove anything , all in game items belong to EA Mythic and if they feel like banning you and/or taking all your stuff they can do so with no risk to them selfs. And I think what Jeremy said about that one "Innocent player" having 150 hammers didnt go against the privicy policy because she didnt name a name and that one player could be any one of the MANY people that posted over the weekend about being banned. Now if say only one person all weekend posted that they were banned maybe that would be a little differant , but we got flooded all weekend about banned posts so .........

I think it's, again, absolutely astounding pathetic how Mythic handled this for innumerable reasons. But I expect nothing beyond utter ineptitude at this point, so there's no point getting worked up over it.

As much as I get aggravated with EA/Mythic, I have to applaud the events of the last few days. Was way too late, but better late than never! And if this is indeed the last of the round, it was stopped way short...Kinda like George I in Iraq the first time...

But I digress...Basically, we pay a monthly fee to use bandwidth and server space. The game, the items in the game, the name of the game, everything, is EA/Mythic property.
Took me a long time to mellow out and realize this, as it is some other peeps evidently.
They can delete, ban, terminate, confiscate, re-color, do what they want to, up to and including just shutting it down.

In stings like this, we are all at risk, to a point. You go to an ingame auction, and buy something...how do ya know it isnt duped? Or...you sell something, who's to say the checks you are paid with are clean?

To use the cleaner language I use around the kids..."Poop Occurs"...
Most of the ones I have heard of so far, only got one account banned out of many. Could be a whole lot worse.

Good show, Jeremy, Drac, et al, now go finish the job by getting the dupers, and not just the fences.
