Thief population

I'm thinking about returning to UO ad restarting my old thief i was working on before I left and I have a few questions.

1. Is there a guild of thieves that I can join so I can fence my items properly? (not talking about the ingame NPC run one)

2. What is the population like. Is there a good deal of people to steal from?

3. ScoundrelRico - Are you the legendary thief that was active early on and active on the former thief board or are you someone new?

i think there is plenty of people to steal from if your at the right place and the time is right. It can get pretty boring during the day but sometimes u get lucky a pull of a nice steal. Not sure if there are any guilds left CoT use to be full of thieves a while ago but i dont even know if Alex still plays. There is always faction if u get kicks off stealin sigs but....:/ If u just followd where the pvp goes outside luna u can steal their looted goods fun as hell to try and out run some people/peoples deff gets your heart pumpin!! Stealing during Luna PvP was the most fun...trying to run away and hide and then stealth away. Thats one reason I always loved being a thief on this shard, The thrill of the chase and the victory I felt over a successful steal.

the only thing u gots to remember about stealing others loot is to not get greedy with it..always ends in para,mana drain and with no resist spells :gun: while everyone else sits and watches the ember legs,hunters headress and invuln shield become theirs again

Ok just wondering since i've been away for so long...can the doom artifacts be gotten outside of doom or are they still only available there. I know there was an event that was giving away cursed artifacts but i believe that event has since been shut down.

dont know much about doom but the cursed artys are still floating around lots of peeps still use them usually they are hard to catch up with let alone kill if you know what i mean ;>

Oh ok so there is a thief guild. Very Good. It was so tough trying to fence my stolen goods the last time I was in game. But the last Time I was in CBD's were still allowed on Items and there ember leggings and bunny ears were still blessed for PvP. BTW what happened to those. I had a pair of each. Can they still be turned in and what can they be turned in for?

The guild really doesn't provide much as far as fencing. that will still need to be done by the individual.

The legs and bunny ears can retain a Siege blessing, but cannot be blessed. They sell for about 250k each...la

Do you at least have "clients" that will come to you if they need certain goods or point a thief in the right direction if there is something they want to sell. My major problem the last time was not finding many people so i think a guild can help me in that if they see people they can tip me off as a good place for some loot.

Most folks open up a vendor...or post ads here on the forums. I suppose if you wanted to offer your services, people might take you up on your offer...la

Rico is apparently not quite up to speed on the formerly blessed Leggings and helm. If yours were blessed at one time, they may be turned in to the guy just south of Brit Bank, for Soulstones. Look for the "Trade-In" guy just outside the guard tower.

Legs and helm's that were never blessed sell for roughly the prices Rico posted.

When mine were bought they were blessed. My assumption is they are no longer blessed. And when i turn them in do i get soulstones or soulstone fragments?

Full soulstones! You even get to choose the color. heh

You are right in assuming that they are no longer blessed. In fact, all 7th anniversary armor or weapons that once held a blessed tag are no longer blessed and can be traded in for either full soulstones or a charger of the fallen, which can be ridden by anyone. There is no account age requirement associated with those.

Rico, you also may be interested to know that if you have or find any Advanced Character Tokens or Transfer Tokens, those may be traded in to the... [I forget what he's called] guy inside of Brit Bank, for a 7th Anniversary token, which will allow you to choose any items that came with that promotion. The items will not be blessed, however. I've nabbed a number of them at IDOC's.

I took those on my Atlanctic character since I was quiting, I knew I'd have an easier chance of getting cash for it when I was liquidating my account...one of the times I've quit...la

Logged back in with my thief and got a few items off of unsuspecting people. I missed being a thief. The thrill of getting away, the disappointment of getting guard-whacked, it was great. I may just reopen my second account to make a PvP character.
