My Two Gold Pieces for what its worth

Okay so I log into Uhall today to see more "I was banned and I'm innocent posts" than mongbats around Moonglow gate.

Well having been a victim of a Origin/EA(this was way before mythic) bonehead clerical error that nearly caused the perma-ban of my sis's account. I can believe a mistake could happen.

Heck, I could believe their account managment system got hacked and this was the result of said hackers. But I doubt it.

However I've seen alot things that make me wonder, if the Dev team finally got a belly full. I've watched for a long time as the cheating, scripting, duping etc spiraled out of control. I've watch helplessly as a script miners continued their activites unchecked after months and months of reporting them to GMs. Finally the Dev team implemented the random ore thing, destroying mining for the average UO player. I could go on and on about the "fixes" to stop the cheaters that have only hurt the average UO player, but I won't.

IMHO, UO needs a enema the size of King Kong and its long overdue! (I also think Uhall could use one as well, but that's a WHOLE other post.) LMAO

If everyone is as fed up as they say they are with EA's Customer "NO" Service the why don't you do something? Why not organize and everyone on a specific day go over to the UO Registration page or call the 1-866 number and deactivated your account(s). Leave them deactivated for 3 days, a whole week, or a month. A month would scare the bejeezus outta them.

It will never happen, and I'll tell you why, because the MAJORITY in uhall do not have the cojones to do it. The majority of Uhall don't even have the cojones to attend a UO Townhall forum and air their grievences in person. (PLEASE NOTE: This statement doesn't apply to the European, Austrailian, Canadian and Asian players that don't have townhalls.)

Would I close my accounts in protest? Yes I would! Am I attending a Townhall? Yes I will be live and in person at the Austin Townhall in September. Heck I'll even sign autographs....JUST KIDDING!

What I'm trying to say is everybody sits around uhall whining and whining. STOP WHINING and do something. Start a email petition, boycott UO for a month etc, etc I can give you a mile long list of things to do that will get you heard by the Dev team and the powers that be at EA. Sitting around whining accomplishs nothing but to annoy your fellow UO hallers.

Those of you that wants to get something rolling lets start right here, RIGHT NOW! Those that wish to continue whining: I have my earplugs in place and here's some CHEESE to go with your Whine.

Have A Nice Day! :danceb:

Quit. If you think they are this incompetent, stop giving them money. I just don't get it. If the game is no longer fun, stop paying for it. I mean you are listening to a guy who was perma-banned and he is protesting by dropping down to four or five accounts. I mean what do you guys really think is believable?

- see you in Austin :)

I like to think any activities against cheating in UO are due to some of the feedback many have been giving for over a decade.

After I met with some of the current team last year in Austin, I got the feeling that they are genuinely concerned with and doing what they can to improve UO (I think some current events are proof of this).
We, the players, just type about UO more often than they ever could, even though they'd probably like to.
Hey if you come up with a good campaign then I'll sign-on.
But I should add that there have been definite signs of UO CS evolving. Hopefully that means they are trying to provide more of it while they try to make it less resource-intensive. But in the big scheme of Customer Service, there have definitely been changes. For instance: This weekend's events are just but one example.

I agree Beldon. If you feel strongly and you ain't having fun...LEAVE THE PARTY.

As for me I'm still having fun. I don't like the way UO customer service is run, but I got ideas and such for improvment that I will share with Jeremy & Co, and anyone else that wants to actually listen.

I've enjoyed the turn in thing. Together Little Sis and I have managed to get ONE of every deco item and set of each armor. We worked very hard for the points we got. We did trade points for points with nice fellow from LS. Heck! That was fun running the quest on a different shard. IMHO its more fun when you work for and earn something yourself.

I want to make UO better, I want to help make UO a game people would want to play and enjoy.

Nothing wrong with that. Sorry if I jumped on you. Just the I am innocent and I have no idea why I was banned is getting to the point of being ridiculous.

NP, Beldon. I never said I was banned and innocent. LOL What I said was that my sis and I were victims of a bonehead clerical error that nearly caused Sis's acount to be perma-banned. She's still playing. Lemme give you the readers digest version.

It was feburary 2001 and sis bought a 1 1/2 yr old account she was in college fulltime and didn't have time to build chars from scratch (LMAO she's redone most of the chars!). She and the guy did the whole account access transfer which in those days cost 25 bucks. (I believe its gone up) Account Access is SUPPOSED to wipe out any marks from the previous owner. Well she had the account about 5 months and had a run in with a person who was behaving like the south end of a north bound donkey. She called him something to that effect with a bit spicier langauge. He paged.

It should have been a 72 hr punishment, but because someone at EA processed the Account Access Transfer inccorectly it show as a 3rd violation thus they permabanned her. Well after 72 hrs of phone calls to Austin (this was when UO support was still in Austin.) and whole lot of faxing. We faxed copy of the Account access Transfer, Credit card statments showing when she started paying for the account and showing where she paid for the transfer etc, etc. Well she got a phone call from a very nice guy in Austin. He apologized said there was a clerical error with the account access transfer and her account had been reinstated. For the record Account Access Transfer has to be applied in both billing and in game. Her's was only applied in billing. She and I have walked the straight and narrow ever since....No way will we temp the fates twice.

No, She wasn't innocent, but does a loss of temper and couple of ill chosen word justify losing one's account permanantly? I don't think so. Not when it was her first offense. So there you have it as condensed as I could make it.

Yeah, just before AOS came out I had a friend pick up a bag full of checks at an IDOC. He paged for a GM to see if they were ok(125 MIL in checks is alot of money). The GM didn't show up and he decided to keep them. He woke up the next day and decided he should get rid of them. Nope too late all his account and all our friends accounts that were living with him were perma banned along with half our guild. He took it pretty well, it was his fault after all. One of his roommates didn't take it too well. Even after he found out why he got perma banned he thought EA owed him an apologoy. I said no you have to explain to them what happened. Long story short, I felt the innocent guy deserved loosing his account because he was such an idiot over it. Both are real life friends...

It's ok if you want to leave...

That's more cacao seeds for ME !

lol :)

Sometimes i hate UO...sometimes i love UO.
No game is perfect...i played WoW...one of the best online games with the most subscribers ever..and got extremely bored once i hit level 70. So that's WoW's imperfection...that things get boring when you've reached level 70.

i noticed that UO is like crack and i'm hooked now...damn you UO.
In china i would probably qualify to put me into online-gaming rehab.

i agree, this is how everyone should be.
but then you get people that like to grief others by stealing runebooks when they are helping other players, crap like that takes the enjoyment from the game for the people that wehre getting the help.

but i will say this much, no scam's :) people where very nice when trading, actually picked up a few new friends, tho on other shards.
