All of the big timers still have hammers. They are just laying low until this cools off. Yesterday afternoon majority of the stock got pulled out of luna because of the heat and attention. Alot of it is probably already xsharded but hasnt surfaced on the market yet (and wont until it cools down). If EA really wants to combat this problem they have to treat it like law enforcement would an inner city drug problem. It's all fine and good to slap these few vendors with 5 hammers on them but that's not the problem. The problem is the guy who manufactures the stuff via dupes and has 1,500 hammers hidden away on god knows how many accounts. If it were me I'd have already made some undercover buys in large quantity (20-50 hammers) see what activity you can track and just nuke all their assets. No excuses EA, you have all the tools necessary to fix the problem. Get people on the task and use your heads.
received report last nite of flames in a vendor house on Atlantic, so went to watch what I was certain would be another Draconi-torch event..... whatever is going on there, at that one house, at least, does not appear to be cleansing flames of past, and checking just now I see verite hammers still for sale

This is Sooooo stupid. Burn house #1, and they simple move the excess that was in storage elsewhere to their new vender in house #2. I say, stop vender rental altogether, and make it so you can only place a vender in a house you own. Then, when it burns down, It was YOURS, and that pile of burn rubble, COUNTS AS YOUR HOUSE, and you can not place another one at all.
No screen shots but it was repeated flamestrikes to certain vendors but they are still up and running. Maybe a warning sign of what is to come. The house in question is a known safe haven for dupers so in my opinion, LET IT BURN and lets destroy all of the water buckets. Who is bringing the marshmellows?
yes, love2, and I never thought of the flames as anything more than a billboard to the other players of an honest effort by the developers to be rid of cheating.. just a sign, y'know?

It seems like they are going from shard to shard one at a time.
Since houses started burning and homes getting deleted on other shards, and accounts getting banned. On Napa all morning all I have seen were packies, beetles and anything else used to move items, go from gates to other locations. It looks like a parade of packies.

I got a house deleted and an account blocked , and I've done nothing but buy some runic hammers , for what i thought was not suspeciously low prices ( 25m val and 15m verite hammers ) , of vendors I thought was legit , but if all it takes is being in the possion of 8 verite and 4 val hammers( bought over several months ) to get an account banned and ones stuff deleted , then I have a hard time seeing why the vendors I bought em from are still in place , with wares incl hammers ...... I have contacted EA and Jeremy to try and get this cleared up , now we ´will see how it goes..
not been involved in any thing I thoguht was illegal , hell I dont even macro un-attended !!

well if the hammers are duped remove em , I wont cry a bit even thou they cost me a lot of gold , Imho they cant do enough to stop duping , but deleting my entire house with lots of other stuff , and blocking my account because I bought some runic hammers of what I thought was legit vendors ... thats not fair i think

This is in no way a troll or flame, your a poster on stratics and you know there is an issue of dupes going on why on earth would you buy low priced hammers ?? You know you "knew" that they were possibly duped... and that's the risk you took so to speak, not saying you should have been banned that's horrible.. but you know you had that thought before you bought.
that doesn't fly with me, not at all.... what about the good portion of players that do not read these boards at all? sheeesh, it took me literally years to start coming to this place... they simply don't know about the scope of the duping, nor care, they just found a really good deal on a hammer? same could be said for any number of items, and they really don't need to be "high end"

as said I didnt buy any of the silly low priced hammers , the hammers i bought was lower priced than the insane luna prices of 49m we see here on europa , but they where not nearly the silly 15 and 9m , and ofc the hammers should be removed if duped, but account banned and house deleted with stuff and soul stones belonging to other accounts.
and tbh this is no whine only a plea for getting fairly threated ......
ps :wondering if Ravenwintherhawk's been slapped he's been posting bout buying silly cheap hammers , anyone seen him post today ???
I really hope they've checked over these players they are banning, I haven't seen any odd activities from Lucy or Kith.

Thx m8 , the one and only time I ever did any thing illegal in this game was back when we got install killed by guards fro training archery on guards in moonglove... thats a looong time agon and was not realy a secret since it was done in public at the fence at moonglove bank... I would never be involved in shid like duping , or even knowingly buying duped stuff...
Nuff Said , now I'm waiting for reply from EA and hopefully Jeremy ( yeah I mailed my pm's since i got told Jeremy's got pm's turned off here )

Well I know Im safe , when I know there is an active dupe going on I but NOTHING "High End" that the dupers would go after. It also helps being on a small shard , I know if I do need a barb kit or a bod there are a couple people I can trust and go to to get that item. Also I keep an eye on the vendors at my house , if any of them all of a sudden started selling 20 Barbed kits or 10 Val hammers you bet your butt Im paging a GM to remove them from my house.
I doubt that hey are banning anyone for buying "couple of" hammers or kits. However, yes they can and will ban people for buying unreasonable amount of these items. They made this ample clear during the last big round of banning. Everyone is responsible for their actions, even the merchant buying stuff off a vendor.
Anyways it is not abnormal to see couple of innocent people getting caught up. I am sure they will review these accounts and restore if true. I wouldnt worry too much. Just let them know and be honest. But if you have been trading in runics etc. in high numbers then no you are not innocent based on well-established precedents.

All we can do is hope it isn't another one of those "ban a dozen, make it flashy, then ignore the problem" situations.
As to being caught up in this by mistake... I could credit that if you ran a legitimate vendor house but lost it due to one of your rentals being used by a duper. Since you have no way to Know if someone is stocking duped items (other than them having more than a couple of hammers/month)
But with (I would suspect) over 100 accounts out there with large quantities of hammers, I don't see why they would point the guns at you even if they had evidence you had duped 8 of them. Much bigger fish out there so to speak.

And to think.. if they only DID something when we paged on these people, we wouldn't be in this mess in the first place.

I saved up for a long time , and even bought gold for rl cash to buy the hammers I bought , yeah maybe they where a bit cheaper but 15m for verite and 25m for val was imho not " ohh all dupe signs flashing cheap "
closed down the first of my accounts as we speak , if i dont get my account and stuff back , I need to " make my money back " ... so wil prob cut down from 10 to 4 or 5....

But..somehow those vendors who sell the duped items are still running..

Lets be honest here folks the game only has 25,000 american players in it its not that big of a deal , I was banned simply for having barbed runic kits, (under 5 i may add)

As somone else stated, i think its a little worrying for those people who have had their account banned for buying stuff. I had been playing UO for at least 2 years before i started reading these bords. I had even baught gold from a private site months before i knew it was illigal. If id had my account banned for that id be devistated.
I know what your going to say, that i accepted the TOS when i sterted playing. But com'on. They need to advertize this kinda thing on the patch screen.
On the other hand, those of you saying 'oh no my account was banned and all i had was a few runics' Go cry more.
If this is true, then you have my sympathy. However I have to ask myself if you are being completely honest. In your shoes I would be swearing up a storm or else complaining...which is opposite of your demeanor now. (calm and collected)
I doubt people were banned for simply buying the items. They probably banned everyone over a certain amount of Valorite Runic Hammers or Barbed Runic Kits. If you have a dozen hammers or kits that is suspicious. And anyone who buys these are probably burning them right away.

Some vendors are still selling their goods and the vendor houses are still standing... It is inappropriate if they are really banning buyers that have bought things from these vendors. It takes them so long to act on this dupe (not only on runics, also server births and EM items) and not even a post in patch window to warn players from buying and partaking in this dupes shopping galore. Atlantic is a major Xsharders shopping shard, and not all Xsharders read Uhall.
I'm wondering why exactly the dupers themselves and their houses haven't vanished yet either.

Soooo now there is a fixed limit to how many runics one may own... I guesse the limit is less than 8-9 verite hammers 4 valorite hammers and a few aggie's ..... the one thing I spend my money on in this game... runic kits of all kinds , I dont own anything rare , i dont give a diddly bout expensive decor , I craft armour and weapons.. its why I play the game , and now I got slapped for it..... If you search my houses you will find thousend of runic weapons , because except for the few pieces I give away in Haven I keep em all , I never sell any... And now they deleted one of my houses and banned an account because of this..... So what am I surposed to do ingame now....
I'll go to bed now.............. and hopefully dream of kicking the shid out of EA employes........

HAHAHA this is a joke. Theres vendors still standing and still selling 4-5 heartwood 4-5 trans tokens 4-5 advanced tokens. Its just funny. At least they let the other vendors empty there **** unless that was ea.
Theres a vendor on GL that is run by someone who sent a mass icq about selling bulk val hammers, ari shrouds and the 5hp shrouds. He placed a vendor thats still standing. Put almost 50 ornies 40+ inquis on it first night dirt ass cheap they all sold.
His vendor is now empty but still standing. The other vendor with all the tokens and heartwood kits is still standing and still selling.

As for the guy saying having 200m is alot. With this latest event casually trading point tickets on multiple shards netted over 340mil. Thats in the last couple of weeks. Having 200m is nothing.

No new houses in Luna on fire on LS, so we must be dupe free. hehehehe
The best guess is that they have a way to trace duped items and they auto banned accounts owning more than a given number of those duped items, considering that above that given number one knows or should have known that they were duped.
This doesn't mean that they won't review individually each account, but they had to stop these items to be spread or used.

I sure hope not. My guild just used the guild fund to purchase barbed kits for all members because we had made so much gold from spawning and selling scrolls.
The kits are sitting in the guild castle until all of the gms decide who gets the kits and who doesn't.
If any of them get banned for having all of those b-kits i'm going to be pissed and I will quit this game. Kits on great lakes continue to go for 2-3 mil, as they have been for a long time.

And skipped the vendors when tallying up, it sounds like. So a duper with a dozen items "hidden" on a vendor is in the clear, but customers of that vendor are not. Also, if they're immediately pulling down houses, what good will a review do?
We all know the criminal justice system makes mistakes sometimes, that innocent people can be convicted and spend years in prison until they're cleared. Why is it so unbelievable that EA could be making mistakes too?
