If UO could disable 3rd party programs being used in uo even your uoassist, and your auto map would you go for it. I know I would if it stopped the illegal programs being used. We had to adjust to so much threw this game. Im sure we could adjust to not using the legal ones. So would you be willing to give them up?

Yes but this here is why EA is losing tons legit players. and if UO could disable 3rd party programs being used most of those legit players that left might come back? Might not be a good uo world for cheaters , but would be a great uo world for me and tons of others.

I would and I used to. Years ago in Bloodrock we did not have uoam, voice, but some had uoa. Our main tool for communication was Mirc we used that in fights, where to go and what not since we stayed in character in the game. It made team work important.

That is just it. It is a simple matter for them fix. Much like firewalls they could simply not let uo run in the presence of ittp. Lost of software does this.

Wasn't that the intention of KR... you can't use any 3rd party programs with it and they put in a better (automap) mapping system and better (uoassist)macro system then 2d.

From what I understand the codeing for KR is harder to create scripts on... Not that those that the hard core won't find a way but it would put a end to the average joe cheater.

Untill they make KR playable to the point that 2d is only appealing to the old time players then you can wish your hopes goodbye. Like it or not KR is going to be the future for UO... no matter how dissapointing it has been so far.

Not really, just no one has made a scripting interface yet for KR. If UO moved to just KR, someone like Cheffe would make something to allow you to script.

Yes that was one of the intentions for KR. and better graphics, macro system, and radar map.
It has been disappointing very true, because they didnt factor in 2d players. You would of thought they would of had a clue when 3d didnt take off. My opinion is they released it way to soon,to buggy and if they factored in the 2d players gave them the option to set everything to look like 2d from the start. I would of waited for the release if it took over a year or so If it meant a better UO

What a load of nonsense. They most certainly can stop people from running cheats it simply depends on how much they care. Yes it is a lot of work but analyze this. I have never had a virus. Why because i run a well updated virus program. Virii and the authors are way more prevalant than cheat creators. I am betting they would not have to update more than once a month to prevent or deter the creators.

yes i remember punkbuster, but they dont need punkbuster to catch players cheating look at all the banning of so call innocent players on uhall for explouts and dupes. Now one day the devs might say lets go after the pvp cheaters. lets make a guild on great lakes go start a champ spawn see who comes raids it, and see what they do see if the skip screens etc. next day the pvp cheat goes to log in cant cuz account is banned. So you see no punkbuster is required

I would love to see them drop the programs if it stopped the cheating. I log on to get stress free not get screwed over by some 10 year old kid. I have played Great Lakes for over 10 years and this is the worst it has ever been. From the duped items to super fast connections, its all bull$hit. I can't belive what kind of loser has to cheat at an online game. The kicker is EA don't care.

First off this game is not about the consumer... its about the money!
Most of the people cheating arnt just running 3rd party programs. They are running duel clients to do other things as well. I run 1 client that has all my chars on it while someone else who uses the programs runs 3 or 4 accounts that are doing things even while they are not really playing. Just in monthly dues its my $13 against random guys $52. Its all about the money. They proved this when they took 9 years to bann the gold scripters from the sweat shops of Taiwan. Look how easy those guys were to pick out... they couldnt even speak english. Just my rant

90% is high for this shard. This isnt atlantic. I assume you are base your claims off the 100% participation your guild has got going?

Even if you could i'm not sure how you would. I can see how you could disable app's such as uoam and uoa but how would you disable the ability to use 3rd party speed enhancements, bandwidth regulators, caching devices. it sounds like a wonderful idea but i don't see how it is doable unless they revert to using something like punkbuster which wouldn't allot UO to run if certain applications were running, which keeps a list of applications from a database.

Secondly, even if it was pulled off i agree with some of the other posters, i think the game would take a critical hit as more people would run off then expected. They couldn't speed hack/script so they suck now so they aren't playing uo so it sucks because they say it does, they cant farm skills/loot/gold with easyuo and scripts anymore so they quit cause they can't make money or characters now. People have just gotten too spoiled with the apps to deal with not having them.
