Please Reinstate the Bounty System of Old.
The Reason stated for it not being on is Not a very good one...

"The Bounty System was turned of Because Parents did not want
there kids to deal with body parts, The idea of carving up some one was
Evil"

This makes no sense, in the game now i can get body parts,Carve stuff up for parts
and make a creature Bleed all over the streets...4 Reasons that this should
be turned back on because it is overkill to have it turned off...

1. While fishing a basic skill that one would hope to find relaxing,Eww i fished up a head.
2. I find the parts on creatures all the time... Ew this dragon killed some one and there is a leg on it!
3. I feed Body parts to my bugs all the time for food and they enjoy eating all of them...
Eww my bug ate a head..
4. I can carve up a dead creature and make it bleed all over the spot i killed it.
Eww that guys draining that mongbat of blood...

Now to me, carving up a guy for his head for the bounty seems just like a basic day...
These other things well one would think that would offend some ones parents too, but they dont turn off these features...

Please consider reinstating the Bounty system, It is in there all ready to go and would not intail new devlopement..
Just turn it back on please... Maybe?
Thank you

I believe it was stated that some parents freaked out about the whole taking of heads thing.

That being said, one of the biggest mistakes ever was letting the under 18 crowd play. The game should be rated M and they should actively enforce age limits.

Yep - This is silly and typically 2-faced morale from - well nevermind
In Eve-Online I have a hangar in a station in a solarsystem full of frozen corpses I collect from my kills :)
Where the hell is the problem?

I believe at the time it was shut off the game was rated "M".. therefore shame on those "offended" parents for letting these children play a rated game!

Grand Theft Auto has long since pushed the boundries so far that the bounty system looks like a walk through candy land by comparison.

i totally agree with this statement but no one seems to mention the slight bug where a player could some how after getting the head make player jerky out of it or the corpse and eat it

Too funny, I missed that one. :)

Frankly, I think UO should be rated "M" and the age restriction enforced as much as possible. Sanitizing the game for eight year olds was and is not the solution to anything...

The old bounty system was a good one...

Pk's were wanted...you could see for how many murders they were reported.
The more murders they commited the more valueable their head was.

It added extra excitement to both sides.

And if kids can't take it to see some unrealistic pixel head being cut off...then they're so not ready for the real world.

Then they should stick to runescape instead of UO.

Wasn't UO +12

If you can't handle seeing blood at the age of 12...lol damn.
+ most kids playing Counter-Strike wich is much more violent then cutting off a head in UO.

It's a good idea in theory but if someone has a large bounty they can just have a friend kill them and get the money.

Maybe if the money went into some type of lottery system.

The main idea here is we need some kind of PvP ranking/dueling system to help revive Felucca.

I would really dig this, it would give all the trammies a fun reason for getting a posse together to hunt reds, A REWARD!!!!

Imma perma red, but I would still hunt other reds

The battles would be very fun im sure!!!!!!

It would be cool if the system allowed any player to put out a reward on a red or blue.

If they in Fel, they fair game

ya people will just exploit it. how about if whomever puts up the bounty gets like 10% damage increase or automatic enemy of one vs that player? :p

Exactly... the real reason the old bounty system was removed is that people were gaming the system.

The whole "cutting people's heads off" aspect was removed after that. I thought the reason they removed the ability to chop people's limbs up into jerky and bones was removed because of localization issues. Something about being able to chop people up being not allowed in a video game in some of UO's target market (countries)

Maybe I just heard wrong.

You get blown up from the harry now anyways.... your body blows up and your parts are everywhere, and yeah you "bleed" someone they run around like a stuck pig.... I am for the old bounty system being turned on again... it was a good system, and made for some fun.

It's a good idea in theory but if someone has a large bounty they can just have a friend kill them and get the money.
But most of the players with a big bounty did not wanna loose it ... they enjoyed seeing how long they could live, and that would exclude having someone kill them for it.

When I returned to uo pvp the first thing I missed was collecting heads. Back in the day I had bags of heads as trophies. So lame that they changed that. What special interest group or religious extremist group were they afraid of offending?

Who here said they cared? That's just the reason EA stated.

You really should get some anger management training, btw :danceb:

There are SO many games with better graphics and better blood etc etc out there that any 10 year old can find with thy internet.

Cutting off heads was fun! They should bring it back. But maybe someone at EA games just didnt like it. Shrugs.

Isn't their an 18+ rating on this game anyway? and warnings about in game violence?

UO is rated T because of Blood, use of Alcohol, Violence.

T= TEEN
Titles rated T (Teen) have content that may be suitable for ages 13 and older. Titles in this category may contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling, and/or infrequent use of strong language.

I think you should have to be 18 to play. I mean after all you do have to have a credit card to play the game so why not put a age restriction? I would love to see the old bounty system brought back but from what they said at San diego town hall it wont happen.

WoW is also rated T and theirs quest to go kill NPC's and take their heads and bring it back for items or gold and such. So why not UO? WoW has 11mil players and a ton of kids play it and their parents. the market in gaming has changed alot over the years. I still remember when Mortal Kombat came out and everyone was like OMG its to bloody ban the game ban ban ban. Now everyone is like oh Mortal combat is a joke... they complained about that?

heck lets go old school. Doom. Diablo. Heck thy arcade game where it was a game show were you had to shoot as many of the people coming out at you for gold and prizes.dang i wish I remember what that game was called. I did put ALOT of quarters into that game. If ya died your body blew up and your pixles body parts would fly up to thy top of the screen and then fall back into thy room you were in.

just like GTA is the NEW shocker of our time..in a few years it will be mild and there will be a newer and more shocking game than that.

I say again bring it back into thy game. On thy other hand thy devs are going to do what thy devs think best...

Think it was something like Smash TV, but I might be thinking of another game from back then.

But it is OK to cut the ears off NPC's for Quest in UO....
:coco:
Nobody said it made any sense, but then again half of what EA does makes any sense other than from the standpoint of their profits.

Same here.

I could swear they said they had to take out carving up player corpses to be able to have shelf presence in Europe.. or something very similar.

Actually, Drac said at not this town hall, but the one before this one that some countries in Europe have a law that "beheading" is illegal, and that from the company standpoint they were not going to promote anything that was illegal.

Now, at the same time, they did say they were going to introduce a "token" or statue that you could collect in the bounty for turn in. That apparantly never came to be either.

If they were concerned with profit their would be a lot more balance in the game

The money, as I recall, that was paid to whomever collected the bounty, came from the bank acounts of the victims.

Then, when the Murderer died, the bounty was paid.

So...get the bounty up nice and high, from the people killed, and have your buddy (or yourself) kill the Murderer (yourself), and collect all the gold.

Yeah...that sounds like something we need to bring back, alright.

Yep. Good Times.

Completely agree. Kids have no business playing a video game.

If they don't like heads being cut off as proof of the kill, how about we use paper and a grease pencil to take a rubbing of the deceased's face?

...

Okay, so.. not one of my better ideas. :sad4:

I think this was changed for a legality reason, cannibalism is illegal in like germany or some crap and osi or ea changed it a loooong time ago to where human jerky was no longer gettable for legal reasons.

I think it's a great idea but instead of money the head triggers and event where the next time that red logs in he is attacked by guards that become stronger in each wave. Basically the red and his buddies can fend off the weaker guards but each wave is bigger and stronger. Eventually they come and kill the person and take him to jail for 10 min for each mil bounty.

Yea....that would make it worth it. :D

The good reason was : it was stupidly useless. Play with body part all you want, the bounty system was not working. It was just another part of Garriott's delusional good vs evil world system.
